"Pierogi" is a Polish dish that's often misunderstood in English. People sometimes call it "pierogies", but that's not quite accurate. In Polish, "pierogi" is already plural. The singular form is "pieróg". So, calling them "pierogies" is like saying "pizzas" instead of "pizza". Just like you wouldn't say "I want two pizzas" when you mean "I want two pieces of pizza", you shouldn't say "pierogies" when you mean multiple pieces of the dish. It's more accurate to say "I would like some pierogi".
In Poland when you say pierogi, everyone assumes it's the ruskie ones, you have to specify the filling if it's not ruskie. Once at a friend's, I was asked if I wanted pierogi, said yes and to my HORROR, they were filled with chicken LUNGS and heavily salted. I somehow ate one, then the friend left the room and I stuffed the rest into my bag.

Your American medicine with an artificial cherry flavor has nothing to do with an actual cheery or Polish cherry vodka. But I guess it's OK to misjudge stuff when you grew up in a different country and are stuck in a box. Man😅 cherry vodka is top of the top classic in Poland and around the world.
It was so much better than we expected! Flavored vodka definitely has a negative context in the US, but we were absolutely blown away by how good it was in Poland!! 👍
It is a bit insensitive to the locals to say that it is cheap here. It might be cheap for you, but many people in Poland are struggling financially, especially now with the high inflation.
We are more so referring to the value of the travel experience compared to other countries in Europe, but we apologize if it seems insensitive! Not our intention in any way.
@@MaxandSidney It's not insensitive, Kraków is known for let say hostile attitude towards spending money in general. I'm glad that you enjoy our cuisine :)
I’m sure you’re not one of low income people having internet or smartphone. Who doesn’t have it , doesn’t watch it. No hurt feelings.
@@MaxandSidney please, no apologies necessary. Over sensitive person. That’s all.
@@MaxandSidneyyou don't have to apologise for anything. Hope you had wonderful time!
Pierogi ruskie are very good. Name is from Russian Polish State. Yes some years ago Russia and Moscow was conquered by polish lords and Russia were just belongs to the Poland. Russian are never forget it and they are afraid more Poles than Americans, Germans or GB :-) Pierogi ruskie rules ;-)
Ahh, okay! We were wondering why they were called that! They were really tasty 😋
You need to pronounce the O in Pierogi phonetically
We'll try! 😂
@@MaxandSidney And don't add "s". Pierogi is arleady plural. One pieróg, Two pierogi.
👎No- vodka 👍Yes- wódka
Hahaha 🍸👍
Wódka tylko czysta, kolorowy to jest telewizor:)
The pure vodka I had at the end was pretty good, I have to say 😂👍
W polskiej tradycji jest mnostwo koiorowych wódek - oraz smakowych. Tym sie różnimy od ruskich, że potrafimy takie robić. Gdzie ty sie wychowywałeś?
@@alh6255 Serio?

Do not cut dumplings with a knife, only with a fork. Eating dumplings with a knife is rude and vulgar, Culture at the table is obligatory
So many rules 😂 they should have them listed at the table! How are we supposed to know?? 😅 thanks for checking out the video!
Please stop saying pierogies, no such word in my native language. Pierogi is already plural, no need to add “s” thank you
Hahaha, learned that the hard way 😂
FIRST DUMPLINGS !!!! "" pierogi''!! they are already in their pronunciation form!! (iiiiiiiiiiiii)in the end not (sssssss) damnnn destroyer my beautiful lang... but I forgive you
😆👍 we love pierogi! 😁
Polish Vodka - 40 Volt.
Slivovitz - 60 - 65 Volt !
Women Vodka - 18 - 38 %
Śliwowica, not some pathetic "slivovitz" (what language is that???)
😆🍸
Yeah - Poland is well known for vodka.
However I would say that even more Polish type of alkohol is "nalewka".
It's a strong alcohol beveradge (40-44%) created by macerating/infusing various ingredients in alcohol, like fruits, roots, herbs, honey etc.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nalewka
Poland is also known for its "Śliwowica" ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slivovitz ), hawever it's not an alcohol conected exclusevily with Poland, because it's known in all the Central Europe, epsecially in the Balkans.
Wow, that's so interesting! We have never heard of those before! Definitely have to add that to the list for next time, the nalewka sounds so unique!
Nie pierogis tylko pierogi.
1. pieróg
2.pierogi
3.pierogi
4.pierogi.
5.pierogów
6.pierogów
7.pierogów
8.pierogów
9.pierogów
10.pierogów.
Zapamiętajcie raz na zaswsze.
😊
W Polsce nie ma nic innego tylko pierogi i wódka.
There is so much more!! 🇵🇱❤️
Really?!
Then I must be living in some dugout between Bug and Odra rivers beside Poland.
