    I consulted a hair salon and they never even mentioned a high lift color. They wanted to just bleach my black hair. I have quite a bit of color experience (though I'm also not a professional) and it was definitely my gut to go with the color remover and high lift before the bleach. Watching this video made me feel a lot more confident about trusting myself on this one. Thanks so much for talking about this! Your hair looks great.

    Lol I keep having nightmares where I go to a salon to get my roots touched up, and they accidentally dye my hair black again somehow and I start screaming and crying. I guess my subconscious really wants me to keep this color for a while.

And my hair are still healthy ( touch wood). After enjoying this beautiful brown shade now I believe I am gonna try blonde. Hope it goes right as well. This video was SOOO helpful! I am headed to Sally's right now. I have wanted to go blonde for a long time, but every time I try I always just use bleach, but you are right it is so much smarter to use the hi lift color and have natural hair colors during the in between stages. Thanks :)

    Thank you for posting this video! I'm thinking about going from blue black to a deep warm brown for the summer, since I have a tan. I had bought some of the Hi Color Hi Lites in Honey Blonde and then saw a ton of videos on YT that swore up and down those will not lift any color, and will not color at all. That it only works lightening up virgin black hair. It was so discouraging, but I love the color your hair was after the first treatment. Close to what I'm going for. I just want to get this black lightened up, so this video made me feel a lot better.

    I just did step 1 last night. I used ColorFix from Sally's and i cannot believe how many shades lighter my hair went. I'm at about the stage your hair got from the second round of the HiColor. Completely suprising to me as i've been dying my hair black for about 5 years. However, I am a natural blonde so perhaps thats why it lightened up so much. Excited to throw on the HiColor tonight. Somewhat scared at keeping it away from my roots but hopefully it turns out alright! SUCH an awesome tutorial thanks so much!

    If I am just trying to go from dyed black hair to a dark/medium brown do you think I'd have to use the color remover? I'm trying to have the least amount of damage as I can. I've tried color remover in the past but it damaged my hair a lot and didn't even work, so just curious if I could skip the color remover and get the same results ! This hair color also looks great on you!!

  • @KATSUvo

    Okay! I've always tried to do this on my own but I always ended up with brassy/orange. (Sally's employees always encouraged just straight bleach on the hair) which ended up frying it! I AM GOING TO TRY THIS :D I hope to get my natural dirty blonde back.

  • @andreabarnfather8972

    I love the colour you have on this video. I've gone basically black and want to go back without having hair like straw - I've got layers and layers of different colours to remove. I am building myself to stripping out the dye but really worried that it will go wrong. Hair salons are currently out of the equation because I'd need to pay for childcare and for all the necessary hair treatment processes - that isn't cheap.
    I found your video really informative. Thank you.

    So, I basically ordered everything from Amazon that you mentioned in the video and was so excited to start the process. Yesterday I applied the color remover and I was so confused as to why my hair was still black… (blonde moment without being blonde yet). I had forgotten that the first time I died my hair with a dark brown hair dye (about a year ago) - was a semi permanent… so the color remover did what it was supposed to, but that first layer of hair dye didn't come off. I thought that i'd just go ahead and use the first box of high lift color to maybe lighten it to brown (I avoided my roots because I like dark roots also, my natural color is light brown) and some parts of my hair (luckily parts that I can hide with my hair down lol) turned blonde!! Imagine if I would've put it on my roots, omg. So I just ordered the color oops and that one box of high lift color that I wasted, and HOPEFULLY it'll work this time. By the way, the my hd color remover smells like shit. (:

    your video helped me so much on lightning my hair. last yr I tried to go blond I had no idea how. I messed up my hair sooooo bad. n have been cutting all that dead hair since. since my hair was all virgin hair again I decided to try to any least lighten my hair to light brown. and your video helped me decide on the highcolor highlight to lighten it. it is true this option did not feel damaging at all. and now I will try to follow the other 2 steps to lighten my hair even more. thank you! :D

    Sooo helpful!!! I asked a salon to dye my hair medium brown but then they ended up screwing everything up (even the cut, so choppy looking). It's now black. I'm not happy at all!! I spent $160 at a salon just to look like I went out and bought some cheap box dye. Never again will I go to that salon!

  • @EuropasOcean
    @EuropasOcean 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is a nice video, although I don't completely agree that it is less damaging. It's less damaging to use Vol 20 developer with a professional high quality bleach + Olaplex. That would safely give 7 - 8 levels of lift. Applied only once and toned with a demi-permanent would be quite gentle on hair.

    • @styledbysamvay
      @styledbysamvay  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maria Hernandez Hmm.. I'm not sure what a professional would suggest. But if it were me.. I would wash it a few times in hot water with a clarifying shampoo, and really scrub it to wash out the color as much as possible. You could also use a color remover in addition to that if you want to. Then I would use the highlift color and an ashy toner. Hopefully that will cancel the red out. You may still be left with a strawberry blonde, but from there you can just keep toning it or coloring it and using purple shampoo. Good luck!

    How much 30 volume do you mix with the hi lighter? Sorry I'm trying to go blond but no nothing about what I need to mix lol. Thanks for your help! Love you hair! Oh and what color blond dye did you use at the end?

      The directions for the L'oreal hicolor hilights is actually printed inside the box, so you have to take it apart to see them. But you're supposed to mix a 1:2 ratio - so twice the amount of developer as color. And the color that I used is called "lightest golden blonde" by Ion. I just added the link to the exact color in the description of the video to make it easier!

      +Samantha Vay some barber shops know nothing about hair dye the last barber shop just used the blue dye not loreal brand ,and it burned my hair like total oxydation,I try to go for advice in a women's hair salon,he refused to fix it so I had to cut it littarly too short until it grew back It was a nightmare I'm the type of guy who loves long length hair! as my hair is very dark brown.

I was just wondering exactly what purple shampoo & blue conditioner were you applying to your hair and from what store?

    I have ombré hair. I wanted to go red but it's a lot of work and I honestly don't have the money to keep retouching it. So I was considering going a blondish color. My only problem is that how can I get it one color if I have ombré hair ? Any suggestions? Please !? Thanks !!!

    Were you able to keep this color for a long period or would the damage be too much to keep?

    your hair looks gorgeous! i was just wondering about how much it damaged your hair doing this process and how you stopped it from getting damaged, in the video it looks very healthy :)

    • @styledbysamvay
      @styledbysamvay  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is very healthy! It didn't get very damaged because I did the entire process over a span of 3 months. Giving my hair that rest in between each step allowed it to kind of repair itself. Plus I also trimmed my ends in between. Also, the bleach is really the most damaging part of the entire process, but since I slowly lightened my hair with the hilift color first, the bleach only had to be on my hair for less than 20 minutes, so it didn't really do too much damage. So if you're trying to do this to your hair and you want your hair to stay as healthy as possible, I really suggest doing it over a longer period of time.
