Russian Roulette is, in my opinion, the best track Porter has ever written to this day. He has come a really long way, I've known him since Language and the quality of his tracks just keeps getting better and better. The happy sound of the synth contrasts to the sad nature of the lyrics, making the song more emotional. I feel nostalgic in some way because this song brings you back to the path you've past. I couldn't help crying when he said "I wanna kiss my cat one more time". Beautiful song, I can't image how masterpiece of an album Smile! :D would be.
This song somehow manages to includes so many refences... The monkey line was actually referring to a Pitchfork review on an album that was so bad the review only used a video of.. you guessed it...
If you are a fan of Porter Robinson's works then you really should check out Phantom Sage/Bloomer. He was once a big NCS artist that had a unique style, definitely reminiscent of Porter's, but he left NCS years ago to pursue his own way. I highly recommend Crystal Clouds, When I'm Gone and Kingdom by Sage himself
Dude you listened to the bridge and kept saying "It sounded samey" like yeah songs don't last 2 seconds... You can't listen to one section of the song that only lasts like 20 seconds and complain it sounds samey... lol
