Being English but having lived in Edinburgh for over 10 years, the route you took from where you started, to your destination is akin to the most direct route a taxi drive will take me, in August, when they hear I have an English accent.

I'm from Edinburgh, and I'm still alive.
I'm also one of the miserable sods that seldom goes to a show ( though if you hang about at the pleasance, you sometimes get free tickets)
most of the luvies stick to the centre of town, so not hard to avoid.
