    Lucid is backed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund. There is no way it is going under. People also forget it took 20 years for Tesla to become profitable. Tesla is a Kia and Lucid is a Mercedes. They are different vehicles with vastly different technology and quality.

      Look, most people can't be bothered to look even basic information, let alone business details. Few of these youtube experts or online news headline writers have any idea how the automotive industry works. I have gotten so tired of the EV haters, Lucid haters, and self appointed financial experts, that I no longer even bother correcting the most egregious errors. It' not like what they say matters anyway. Love my Lucid, not at all worried about the future of the company.

      So why isn't Lucid selling their cars? Why are the people who pre ordered not buying?

    • @AlbertoCadeddu
      @AlbertoCadeddu 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A bit exaggerated. Tesla is not a Mercedes and is overpriced due to its amazing marketing strategy and Elon himself behind the brand (guess who gain sales) On the other hand, Lucid, while not comparable to Mercedes either, offers a decent quality product but suffers from poor marketing and consequently low sales

    I live in Southern California, where one sees a lot of EVs. We even have a large Lucid dealership not too far from us. Yet, we rarely see this vehicle driving on the streets. My gut feeling is that it is too expensive for most people to become popular. Personally, I am also no fan of the design lines of it's trunk area.

    I am a HUGE fan of Lucid, enough to invest in them. I, however, think their prices are too expensive and they'd profit more if they lowered them but kept the quality of what they currently are. I believe Lucid has HUGE potential and will go far if they lower the costs. I've only seen a handful of Lucids and test drove one once. Between test driving a Lucid and a Tesla, I'd go Lucid any day. I hope they explode in popularity one day and lower their prices. Dream car for sure.
    Also don't say "everyone hates Sedans". Sedans are still really popular.
    Lucid, however, is going to start with an electric SUV soon called The Gravity and there's not many, if any, cars that are fully electric and are of the SUV body type other than MAYBE a Rivian. Lucid could get a big start on that front and gain a lot of attention, but again, prices NEED to be lowered, in my eyes at least, in order for them to really explode.
    also this video is only one side audio which is weird.

    • @Brisou394
      @Brisou394 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well that is not really how things work. Depending on the number of sales, you can set a suited price for the company to sustain. If they did every thing to cut down on cost (even salaries 0:28) 2 options is presented (no magic trick) - either they produce more or - raise prices much higher
      -> going premium was a strategy to get investors but also to raise enough money for tooling. Since they deliver cars, I assume they now have tooling. With that manufacture they now have to know the maximum number of car they can produce (because it is when you produce the most that you have the highest margin). Having product diversity (very different product in the lineup Air & Gravity) helps in order to optimise a maximum of sell/produced vehicle (just like hyperthreading in a processor core).
      -> there idea of bringing innovations to cheaper models can work only if you can mass produce them. But they ain't got the tooling to compete with Tesla or VW numbers...
      So they have to raise prices way up with there Bugatti killer. Sapphire shouldn't be considered as a "special edition" but more like a phase 3 of an awesome vehicule. Then do expensive customisations & or exclusive editions on top of that ! (to get as much money as they could of) But they should of stopped the Air if they arn't profitable enough, just like automotive industries stop phase1 or 2 once a newer version is released.

    What I think will happen. Elon will try to price into the more budget brands. While still trying to market to the higher end people with the S.
    But to people with money, why buy a Tesla when you can have a Porshe that doesn't cater to peasants? I call it the walmart effect. The more Tesla markets itself to the masses. The more the brand will lose its luxury appeal. This is where Lucid will come in and take market share with higher-income individuals.

    Great video. Accurate reconstruction. Elon is just smarter , he did everything perfectly in terms of marketing. I remember back in UCLA I did a project where I had to analyze the story-case of the first Roadster; made for rich people at high price in LA. Back then nobody, literally nobody was aware that the car industry was going to change dramatically in couple of years. Here we go, if it was a chess game, Elon would win in check mate. As you accurately described model 3 is now affordable, model S cheaper and even the new cyber truck is not crazy price. Big win for Elon and Tesla

  • @disciprine
    @disciprine 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    you're wrong. Elon has stated many times that getting to the scale of building the model 3 couldnt have happened without the model S and X, and the roadster before it. This is not unique to EVs either as it is harder to make a mass vehicle at that price point because margin is so slim. What lucid should have done was build a vehicle that did not directly compete with something Tesla made like rivian has done with the trucks

    yadda, yadda... Learn a thing if you want to tell us about cars.
    Rawlinson was chief engineer at Tesla. Musk only recently took down the Tesla videos where Peter, introduced as chief engineer, shows and discusses the design of the Model S battery.
    Rawlinson's big payday was stock options he was granted over his years developing the Lucid car and company, and only became vested after the company went public.
    Times are tough all over right now, and it's not just EVs. Go by any Ford/GM/Ram dealer and look at the lots full of unsold m.y. 2023 $90k pickups.
    Lucid is funded and majority owned by the trillion dollar Saudi PIF sovereign wealth fund as part of their Vision 2030 national priority to establish a 'green economy' footprint.

    An amazing vehicle, but a bit of a niche market and a higher end luxury product won't sell as well in a recession. The new Lucid Gravity looks like a minivan which is going to be a problem. Also having to compete with brand names like Audi, Porsche, Mercedes Benz etc. They are probably going out of business. If I had to choose between Lucid and Rivian stock, I would choose Rivian.
