Just like there's ultrasound IE sound moving very very fast, there's also sound that moves very very slow. It's so slow we can't hear it, instead it vibrates things. You feel infrasound. It's part of why good bass speakers make you well feel like you are feeling your music. Because you are.
Infrasound is something we humans evolved to use for survival. Certain tones within the range are present in the roar of large animals (especially lions and tigers). Our brains evolved to automatically associate those tones with "You are in danger!" and will make you panic if you hear them. This has been confirmed via lab testing. If you got a big enough speaker and a system capable of playing infrasound, you could push a button and terrify people for miles and miles who wouldn't have any idea why they were suddenly terrified as they wouldn't hear a damn thing.
Additionaly, there are a few specific frequencies within the infrasonic range which match the ressonate frequency of your eyeballs and eardrums. If this happens your brain panics, not sure what to do about these seemingly random inputs its getting. It tries to piece things together as best it can, creating images of things its most familure with as it tries to see a pattern in the noise. This causes you to see faces, people, objects, but not perfectly. They are distorted, fuzzy, because it's your brain trying to reconstruct memories to cover up nothing more than your meat being jiggled about. Again, this has been confirmed via laboratory testing.
Lastly, infrasound containing these frequencies occurs in nature quite often. A cave in deep underground rumbling up to the surface, a large tree falling in the extreme distance. A freight train rumbling past and having some odd ossilation of the wheels.
80% of ghost sitings are litterly you being slapped with sound too low in frequency for you to hear, but your adapted to use for survival anyways.

Not the creepiest but still weird, I was in the kitchen with my parents sitting all together on the couch, in the corner of the room, next to the couch itself there is one of those big houseplants with big leaves and long stems, at some point with the corner of my eye I see it starting to move and shifting position but I didn’t give it too much attention because sometimes leaves move because they grow so I ignored it. But the plant didn’t stop moving and it weirded me out because it was fifteen seconds of movement, so I called my cat because I thought it was her playing with the table where the plant was on and as soon as I called her I see her going out of my room and she appear at the kitchen door, in the opposite direction of the plant, wtf. The plant literally shifted position, it did like a full 180° shifting and both my parents, the cat, and I were just looking at it questioning our sanity. After twenty seconds it stops and I look down at the table and it has literally moved place. We didn’t have rats nor any other animals in the house (the cat would’ve gotten crazy and chase them), so yeah the plant was basically possessed for half a minute and we don’t know why hahaha
I was house sitting for a friend. It was a really nice house in Lake Tahoe. Despite having a quality security system, the owner wanted an eye kept on it. One night I’m playing video games in the entertainment room when I feel what seemed like two or three fingers touching the back of my neck. There were motion detectors everywhere and I never once left the house while I was there, as requested by the owner. Basically, there’s no way anyone could’ve entered the home. No food was missing the entire time I was there. Nothing was out of place. I really can’t explain it. I had to keep telling myself that there’s no way there could be anyone else in the house for the remainder of the period that I was there.

1967. Before I started school. Our house was an old partly remodeled 2 story, with an attached back shed with outer screen door and solid panel wood door. Past that . A hollow core door that was the house door with a step up to step in at the jamb. Everything made noise, especially the stairs going up. To the right as you got to the top of the stairs was a short hallway with two bedroom doors, one fit tightly and made a particular sound when opened or closed and took some force to do so. To the left was two doors to the other two bedrooms, one partially offset to the left. The other was in a short angled wall that wasn’t at right angles. Remodeling had white baseboards and vertical trim boards outlining the stairs opening. It was hot summer and we had a friend staying in the bedroom with the tight door. It was after 10 pm and everything was dark. A street light would make it less than pitch black but it was dark in there. Parents and my doors were open for ventilation and windows were open. From my bed about half of the stairs opening could be seen as well as one of the white vertical molding pieces that framed the stairs opening. Now. My mother was also awake. We heard back screen, back outer shed door open and close. Back house door open and close. Kitchen closed, dining room traversed. Someone came up the stairs. At the top, I seen something about person tall occlude the white trim board. We both heard the bedroom door get pulled open, then closed. Next morning something was going on early morning so mom went to wake up the guest. There was no one in the room, the bed was still made. Mom and I had the same story from the night before. No way that anyone could have left by the window. To leave that room would have made a sound that would have been heard. Friend showed up about 45 minutes later, they had stayed at someone else’s house that night. No sign that anyone had been in anywhere else in the house. What really happened? Two identical stories, one by a child who had no motivation to lie… there is a long word that starts with a P and not poultregeist, that describes something like this, but. What really happened?
I lived in this REALLY nice house when I was in middle school. The drawback was that I always felt like there was something with me in the upstairs part of the house as soon as the sun went down.
Never felt it downstairs, I was fine in the day; it was only at night upstairs.
When my parents started fighting before seperating/divorcing, my mom moved upstairs in the room next to mine. She said she'd hear an old fashioned sounding phone ringing (early 00s before cellphones had that kinda ringer and our landlines had an electronic ring). I didn't believe her till I heard it myself one night watching a movie in her room with her one night. It was REALLY creepy.
