Pilot Custom 823 is my first fountain pen. I own it for a year now and i'm still insanely in love with it. The way it writes, the way it looks, just holding it in my hand is such a great feeling. I thank God for this pen. I just ordered the Lamy 2000 which was my 2nd choice last year. So let's see how i feel about that one! Amazing video guys, much love and God bless you all.

Perfect timing! My brother and his family are giving me a fountain pen for Christmas; I just have to decide which one! There is a price limit, of course, but it‘s extremely generous. I am quite sure I will be placing the order with you guys for a number of reasons. My choice will not necessarily be one of these pens. For one thing, demonstrator pens do not appeal to me. Perhaps I should try a less expensive one and it might surprise me, but the idea of a transparent pen leaves me cold. In any case, thanks for all the videos and the fun times in 2021! Look forward to more such times in 2022!
The 823 is probably the best pen I ever ordered. But I am very glad you picked up Sailor. This year was the first time I tried Sailor and I ended up getting 3 Sailor pens from Goulet. Very happy with them!
I purchased the Kaweco AL Sport in Vibrant Violet from Goulet Pens when it came out earlier in 2021. I love the color and the way it writes, but honestly it's the texture of the pen that is so appealing. It's a fidget for me because it's so comforting, starting out a little cool and warming in my hands. Definitely my favorite pen to hold of all the pens I own.
I have the pilot custom 823 amber and it is amazing to look at. Never thought I'd buy a brown pen or even a translucent pen since I'm not a huge fan of either but man this one is my favorite pen. That rich brown color when you look through while holding in daylight is something incredible.
What did I think? I loved it! You selected pens I didn't buy this year, so....yep, wishlist has now grown. :D I do love all the rainbow and all the abalone. Thanks for this and for your playfulness, which is always a joy to watch.

I confess I waded into the rainbow pool! I love my Conklin Duragraph Special Ed. Rainbow and Monteverde Innova with the black nib and the rainbow JoWo Omniflex nib. Beautiful pens but looking for the perfect inks. I also picked up the TWSBI Vac700R in Iris! As well as the Swipe in smoke. I really hope they come out with more colors. Inky Rocks mentioned there are two colors exclusive to the Japanese market. Still need to get my hands on the TWSBI navy. Thanks for a fun video as always!

I love my 823 so much. Plus, Pilots customer service is outstanding. On the very first day that I owned this pen, I went to grab it and bring it for work, and my sleeve got caught, causing me to rocket the pen onto the hard floor, breaking the cap. Bah! But Pilot fixed it for me without issue! Awesome!

I did purchase a Pilot Custom 823 in smoke this year and am enjoying every time that I use it. I wonder what vodka the Benu company recommends when someone purchases the Vodka on the Rocks fountain pen? I recommend Russian Standard, Beluga, and Reyka. I got the Savannah Safari because I think it matches fantastically with my brown Travelers' Notebook ( _"fantastically" is a word right? eh... probably_ ). I got the Conklin black/rainbow pen too because it looks so friggen' good! Not... a big fan of how it feels when actually using it, though. The pen I've been using the most this year is the purple Lamy Scala with a gold nib installed, though. Man! I love this pen. I _think_ I might want to try out a Sailor soon, though. _Maybe_ go nuts and get one with a 21K nib. Happy New Year's, Goulet Pens! I've been a customer for a long time buying notebook stuff but only got into actual fountain pens this year ( _I _*_pulled_*_ in some friends into the hobby too with some gifts, lol_ ).

😵But... But... Not even an Honorable Mention for the Pilot Custom 74 Blue Stone?! I will say that for many years my few fountain pens were primarily Sheaffer and Parker pens. I didn't own a Cross fountain pen until about two years ago. But I am so glad I discovered The Goulet Pen Company a couple of years ago, and I'm so grateful that Goulet basically introduced me to many WONDERFUL brands of fountain pens, such as Pilot (I am definitely a Pilot fanboy!), Platinum, TWSBI and Kaweco! So, thank you, thank you, thank you! I can hardly wait to see what new experiences in writing Goulet leads me to in 2022! I hope it's a great year for you guys and everybody!
The Blue Stone C74 did well, but it didn't feel like it was "hot" from our perspective. It still looks awesome, though! We definitely considered it! - Drew

My personal pens of the year are all your list: TWSBI Swipe has become a beloved EDC; I love BENU, not just for the sparkles and great colors, but also the beautifully tuned smooth nibs; and the Conklin Endura Abalone with Chrome, which is the best writing Conklin I’ve ever had. Now we just need an Endura in full white mother of pearl! (Hint hint) Happy New Year to all at the Goulet Pen Company!
Start saving if you have to…and consider buying the 845 as well, whenever you’re able to. It slightly edges out the 823 in my collection of Pilot’s classics.
When you do, just please buy all the Sailors you desire. I did. And I’m not done it. Despite the inflated prices here in the States, I still think Sailor pens are worth the dollars anywhere you find them. My favorite of the Japanese elite brands.
Watching this in 2022, I feel gratified that the Benu Euphoria Vodka on the Rocks is on there. Having coveted it from a local stationery store, I put off buying it... even adding it to my Christmas list... till fear of it selling out took hold and I got one before Christmas. No regrets, as a big glitter fan, I love the pen, I love the Schmidt nib in M (beautiful out of the box, even better over time). And I'm glad I did, because after sharing my purchase on my local FP community group, a couple more folks ran out to get the last ones. Phew!!
I love the ugliest sweater season :) happy new year team! my favorite for this year is Visconti Rembrandt black f nib. Great weight and length for me, smooth writer.
Have to agree with your #1. I have the Goulet exclusive Sailor with a music nib and it's just gorgeous. Perfectly weighted for me and glides like a dream.
Wasn’t impressed with the navy 580. I much preferred the Prussian blue. I also picked up the amber 823 and the vodka on the rocks and golden espresso kaweco! Love brown pens! I went through a sailor phase and I’m over it. The sailor is too much like a pencil but I do still love the minis and pro gear slims. Also done with Conklin. They are just not reliable writers in my opinion but I do have several with the Omni flex nibs. Taccia is a very boring writer. I was disappointed with the parchment covenant one I bought. Done with lamy too. I already have multiples and I don’t find these as collectible as the twsbis. I did pick up the swipe in smoke in a stub and I very much enjoy it! Great list! More brown pens please!
I'm enjoying your best X of 2021 series. One gentle suggestion which also came up in an earlier pencast; the volume of your background music, particularly near the end, is distracting. I may not be the only viewer who struggles to follow your spoken words while that's playing. So, I'd suggest keeping an eye on that and keeping background music in the background. Otherwise great job as always, and best wishes for 2022.

My 823 is easily the best pen I ever owned. I got it this year after wanting one for SEVERAL years. Mine is the smoke though which I prefer to the amber model but it's freaking incredible. It should top every list ever as far as I care but I am also completely biased toward pilot pens.
Happy seeing my favourite of this year on the list, Kaweco Golden Espresso. It’s a great writing experience and has an awesome tactile feel. Happy New Year to you both and I’d have to say that Drew wins the sweater competition with the moose!

I'm like the only one in my class who uses fountain pens and i have super and I mean super bad handwriting so I'm kinda "the kid with terrible handwriting who overcompensate with fancy pens" kinda ironic.

Dear Brian, I do write about 'real world' stuff with pens I got from you! But yes, I got the 823 this year for my birthday and I love it!
Start saving if you have to…and consider buying the 845 as well, whenever you’re able to. It slightly edges out the 823 in my collection of Pilot’s classics.
Sailor! They are why I wish I had more money.
When you do, just please buy all the Sailors you desire. I did. And I’m not done it. Despite the inflated prices here in the States, I still think Sailor pens are worth the dollars anywhere you find them. My favorite of the Japanese elite brands.
Watching this in 2022, I feel gratified that the Benu Euphoria Vodka on the Rocks is on there. Having coveted it from a local stationery store, I put off buying it... even adding it to my Christmas list... till fear of it selling out took hold and I got one before Christmas. No regrets, as a big glitter fan, I love the pen, I love the Schmidt nib in M (beautiful out of the box, even better over time). And I'm glad I did, because after sharing my purchase on my local FP community group, a couple more folks ran out to get the last ones. Phew!!

Have to agree with your #1. I have the Goulet exclusive Sailor with a music nib and it's just gorgeous. Perfectly weighted for me and glides like a dream.

Wasn’t impressed with the navy 580. I much preferred the Prussian blue. I also picked up the amber 823 and the vodka on the rocks and golden espresso kaweco! Love brown pens! I went through a sailor phase and I’m over it. The sailor is too much like a pencil but I do still love the minis and pro gear slims. Also done with Conklin. They are just not reliable writers in my opinion but I do have several with the Omni flex nibs. Taccia is a very boring writer. I was disappointed with the parchment covenant one I bought. Done with lamy too. I already have multiples and I don’t find these as collectible as the twsbis. I did pick up the swipe in smoke in a stub and I very much enjoy it! Great list! More brown pens please!
I'm enjoying your best X of 2021 series. One gentle suggestion which also came up in an earlier pencast; the volume of your background music, particularly near the end, is distracting. I may not be the only viewer who struggles to follow your spoken words while that's playing. So, I'd suggest keeping an eye on that and keeping background music in the background. Otherwise great job as always, and best wishes for 2022.

My 823 is easily the best pen I ever owned. I got it this year after wanting one for SEVERAL years. Mine is the smoke though which I prefer to the amber model but it's freaking incredible. It should top every list ever as far as I care but I am also completely biased toward pilot pens.

Happy seeing my favourite of this year on the list, Kaweco Golden Espresso. It’s a great writing experience and has an awesome tactile feel. Happy New Year to you both and I’d have to say that Drew wins the sweater competition with the moose!

I'm like the only one in my class who uses fountain pens and i have super and I mean super bad handwriting so I'm kinda "the kid with terrible handwriting who overcompensate with fancy pens" kinda ironic.
