I’m another dead head who is now obsessed with bluegrass and country because of Sturgill and Billy Strings. This whole western, red dirt bluegrass-y revival thing that has been going on is extraordinarily groovy Sturgill rips
Well , you better don't go to a performance now from Sturgill because what you here see is the real deal , with that drummer and the bass player ( his brother? ) ; This whole band is super cool , honnest and full of power and enthiuosasm. I saw him a year ago and he killed this sound with an huge big band with a horn section and a Hammond ; He killed this fabulous sound all in order he thought he would score in Europe commercially with that ridiculous big band he had with him . After hearing 3 songs I went home , very dissapointed .
@@Jef-sj6zcSturgills hasn’t toured since before Covid so you saw him a year ago? While prefer this sound that horn stuff album won him a Grammy and got him about as famous as he’s been so I think he made the right choice as he never made it with this band.
@@ICKYSZN Well , it could be longer than a year ago but that doesn't matter. It was in the Netherlands in a place called "Doornroosje ' . Yeah , he scored commerial but not musical. The experience and the soul is out of his music. I keep enjoying looking at the recordings on TH-cam ' live in a Barn ' ; that's the real thing!
I got $8.95 left in my bank account till pay day Friday. A 12 pack in the fridge. & I could give a fuck less, so long as I got great music like this to listen to. God Bless you Sturgill. You do this hillbillies heart good. Your biggest fan in South Carolina.
This stuff is like hillbilly Punk rock. The best thing about Sturg is he does whatever the fuck he wants to do. Anime Rock (?) Album Sound and Fury and possibly a Broadway play for The Ballad of Dood and Juanita.
@@richardrussel4567Billy can’t chicken pick a Tele like Sturgill. If we’re talking Bluegrass then Billy’s getting the nod all day, but in the hybrid country/Rockabilly/electric punk grass genre Sunday Valley was in Billy ain’t it.

Well, the Osborne Brothers would still recognize their song, hearing this. Sturgill does this in his live shows and plays his Martin. The crowds still love this old song. I like this electric version.
Being from Kentucky myself! I have got to.think there is something about the people from the eastrn spallations of Kentucky! there some of the poorest but the hardest Workin and nises people in the world! and there's.a talent born in each one of them and thay friend is cald mountain soul music and bluegrass
At first, I wasn't particularly fond of this version, I guess I was just so used to the original style but the as time goes on I have been able to come to grasp the genius that is Sturgill Simpson. And with that understanding this version as become one of my favorite songs period.
+MattD Heaney Colter Wall, Whitey Morgan and the 78's, Jamey Johnson, Shooter Jennings, Randy Rogers Band, Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Pat Green are some good ones.
+Johnny Noble, I think its only a matter of time. From the interviews I've heard with Sturgil, he seems like a guy true to his art, not likely to sell out playing pop country hits. He's got to be turning contracts down left and right, afterall, he's got the look, talent, and attitude. Far too raw for main stream country, but people change for money, hope he doesn't.
Who the hells producing this guy...And why can't I hear a lot more of him...It sure is nice to hear country for a change... .WTF.....Somebody better get there head out of there butt down in nashville
Nashville has no interest in real musicians. They want pretty faces who will go out and sing their mindless pop country bullshit so they can sell 60 dollar concert tickets to kids with disposable income. As for finding more of Sturgill Simpson, check out his website, sturgillsimpson.com, he has a new album coming out soon here and you can check tour dates as well as buy his music.
I'm here in 2024 and still rocking this shit!!!!!!!

Sturgill can shred! I've been waiting for this kind of a come back to country. Like breathing fresh air!

This guy destroys fast country solos! Incredible!
Im a dead head that loves Sturgill...he could easily play the festivals and gather more of a hippie fan base. SS is as pure as it gets.
Hippies playing country is as good as it gets✌️
I could dig it but he’s doing just fine in his own lane 👏👏
I'm a metal head... Still love Sturgill
I think there are a lot of dead heads that dig sturgill. Same recognizes same.

This sturgill is definitely the best sturgill.
A True Country Artist whose' guitar abilities are second to none.
I’d say he’s second to Jason Isbell which is no insult. Jason can tear it up
His guitar work in the studio is usually pretty tame, then he shows up live to remind everyone he's the better than anyone else in the room.
Billy strings blocks your path
ever heard of roy clark? Ricky Skaggs?? i love sturg but let’s not get stupid here lol.

Yeereeehawwwwww
I wonder if Sturgill knows how to play banjo ? Cause he sure picks the hell out of that guitar,........
Johnny Noble he’s from eastern Kentucky. He was born with a banjo in his crib.
Why can’t I find the version of sometimes wine that they did in this barn? I’m freaking out...
You can thank Downtown Music Publishing for that, they're on a rampage filing claims and removing Sturgill videos. Very unfortunate.
LiveandBreathing thanks for the reply. A damn shame. What is they’re reasoning?
