I am a young teen and I just lost my Mama. She was an opera singer, and sang for 20 years with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. As a child, I vividly remember sitting in the car listening to Mama singing. She sang every time we were in the car. She sang this most often. I still remember her beautiful voice singing these words of praise to the Lord. As a result, I have most of this work memorized. Every time I hear it, it brings back such wonderful memories that I can't stop crying. I think I cried straight through this. I am following in Mama's footsteps by becoming a violinist. I hope to honor her by gaining entrance into the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in time. Thank you for this truly heartfelt performance of one of Vivaldi's greatest works.

There's something wild about this performance. Proof that classical music doesn't need to be, shouldn't be, stodgy.
Sometimes we forget just how good Vivaldi was. The Gloria is an excellent reminder that the man was a genius.

Fine performance of Vivaldi's entire RV 589 work. The soprano solo (M. Galoyan) with oboe and organ accompaniment beginning at 10:30 was especially moving. The applause of the audience most certainly was well deserved.
Vivaldi’s music are unrivaled in joviality and elegance. This Gloria is a masterpiece of sublime harmony and amazing musicality. His music is unparalleled and fabulous. Viva Vivaldi and its incredible and extraordinary music.The direction, the choir, the soloists and interpretation of the orchestra are superb. Thanks for this remarkable recording.

Absolutely, Vivaldi was also a Catholic priest so, in addition to his fabulous talent, he put a great spiritual and mystical sense to his music.

I've performed this (as a member of the bass section) and heard it performed a dozen times, and this is one of the best performances, if not THE best, I've ever seen. The PRECISION and accuracy, the aggressiveness of the attacks and cut-offs, the lovely dynamic shadings, are all simply magnificent. This is a world-class ensemble that I would put up against the Atlanta Symphony under the baton of Robert Shaw without any fear of it being put in even a square inch of shade. Simply outstanding.
Gents, I really do not mind the "Tempo", it seemed correct for me, for my taste. But the beauty of this Vivaldi work is really blatant. For my opinion the Orch., the Choir did very well as well as the soloists and the Conductor, Maestro Mlkeyan. Only one word: Bravissimo ! JAL, from Brazil, South America
For my opinion, this is a fine example of hard rock and heavy metal BEFORE there was either. Sebastian , Ludwig , and Amadeus were on board. God gives us good stuff.

I agree ! I'm glad they didn't replace the oboe by a violin for this solo part, like many orchester do.
What a great performance! I am stunned by the sound of the choir, the crispness of the orchestra. It is a beautifull experience through and through. The conducter makes it all vibrate with vitality and panache... it was marvellous!!!

Apart from Christmas Choral Music, Vivaldi's Gloria is my favourite Choral piece of music, in this video it is performed very well.
If it were posible to press the like button a thousand times it still wouldn’t be enough to show how much this performance boosts my state of mind.

I performed this. It is not too fast the tempo is correct. The female vocalists who sang the first duet, have the beautiful, bright and crystal clear voices, full of metal, found in singers of Eastern Europe. (The preference for this type of voice is a matter of personal taste of course.) Vivaldi should not drag. This is a very good performance. The chorus is top notch.

tarik solangi mother Phyllis I loved the soprano duet. I prefer the - as you say - "beautiful, bright and crystal clear voices" when it comes to choral music, as opposed to heavier, operatic voices you sometimes hear.

Excuse my ignorance but didn’t know this piece existed until today. Loved the four seasons but 300 years later and Vilvaldi is still capable of touching people beyond his lifetime!!! Genius
People who like this will also like Bach's Magnificat. I have both on the same recording. Also one Christmas I went to a concert where both were performed. We all need to make a special effort to go see live music after this Covid thing is over.

wasn't that such a rich and warm sound from the contralto? really wonderful to listen to, and such a great blend with the soprano. i love the courageous tempo, really brings out the Vivaldi. melodic, lyrical; you don't need enunciation when you are singing a wholly familiar text in Latin, what difference does it make. bold, brassy from the first measure. really had me sitting bolt upright. very bright sound. when i've sung this it always seemed to drag, though of course i love the piece. this reading brought it to life alright. thanks for the post. I've sung this a couple of times with my choir, and heard it performed several more times by others, but this is by far the crispest, most energetic and exciting rendition I've heard. It's exactly how this work should be performed. All power to the conductor for keeping the singers and instrumentalists up to speed in the faster passages - a surprising tempo at first, but then you realise just how right it is. It would have been thrilling to hear live.

This unheralded little chamber group deserves much wider exposure! Every player, every member of the chorus, and every soloist (who a marvelous always) is in dead earnest. The unpretentious conductor is clearly a man who knows his business and is a consummate and very precise musician. Well done, Armenia! Keep the Faith and keep your great cultural power. (USA)

This is an absolutely wonderful performance of Gloria! The tempo is absolutely correct. That's the fab job of the Armenian musicians, their country is so unbelievably reach in talented musicians and performers.

Splendida scelta delle voci femminili che cantano senza usare portamenti lirici...ma scolpendo le parole come insegna il canto gregoriano e legando in maniera nobile. Il prete Rosso conosceva benissimo il canto Gregoriano e Monteverdiano......orchestra e Coro perfetti....una vera sorpresa...e il direttore che si capisce Ama questo capolavoro assoluto. Affascinanti i rubati quando il canto si fa dolente....e certi preziosi rallentamenti...degni del magnifico testo.....Chapeau!

This concert would be inappropriate during Holy Mass but a portion of the Gloria is easily arranged so that its length does not keep the celebrant waiting and delaying the Mass. As for the fast tempo of this production, I'd say it moves along joyfully just fine.

I have chills listening. Vivaldi is an otherworldly experience, as is Bach.
Cuando en mi infancia descubrí Vivaldi en las Cuatro estaciones, al lado de otros clásicos fue quien con su mágica vibrante armonía me condujo a otros en una especie de enamoramiento que se convirtió en una pasión. Corelli, Handel, Bach y otros completaron este complejo y maravilloso mosaico de mi gusto por la mas hermosa creación de la humanidad.

Bravo Ladies and gentlemen of the,choir and orchestra, for a superb performance of a tricky piece of music. You're Maestro is one who could do wonders for some of the Weatern choirs who very often never keep together, lack fire and enthusiasm, and more to the point either have NEVER been told about interpretation,or dynamics or simply are unable to produce a crisp clean, and beautiful sound/ tone.
This Armenian choir are absolutely the goods. No doubt about it.

Gorgeous!!! The Vivaldi Gloria is one of my favorite choral pieces. I've sung it several times, done both mezzo-soprano solo pieces. This choir & orchestra were wonderful!

Some classical music is so awesome you nearly want to cry... This is one of those pieces. I love 10:28 forward (and 15:22 forward), but it's all really awesome. I played this piece in my high school orchestra... Awesome memories!
