Body positioning is everything in climbing and I've made all of these mistakes too. What mistakes have you seen or have made yourself with body position?

I just get scared, lose my head and then the mistakes add up. Are there some tried methods to deal with the fear? I have no problem with people looking at me, just with... well, the height. Even when the height is not that high at all. I try to do some falling/jumping exercises to get used to it but it is so damn hard.

Second time watching this video, now that Im a beginner whose a bit less of a beginner and learning new tricks. I like the reframing of hips-in on overhang and vertical as simply an effort to get hips closer to feet, or the center of gravity closer to base of support to explain why the opposite is true on slab. Really makes it simple and widely applicable across a variety of terrains when presented this way.

My problem is... I don't even know what/how I'm climbing, because I'm often going alone climbing and feel shy to record myself with this clumsy skill.
I know there's no point to feel shy but it just happens...! But the video is very helpful, I'll try to keep this information in my head. Thank you!

I totally understand being shy about recording yourself - you should have seen me the first few times I pulled out my phone to record myself. It gets much easier the more you do it and you’ll even stew art to notice other ppl doing it too. I hope this helps and good luck!

I’d love to see a video on recovery. How long, heal the skin, care for those poor little toes, nutrition, etc

@@SendEdition went pretty good was able to static and dyno a dyno focused v4 and finally crushed my v5 project. Lot's of new problems, not all that i sent but still a very productive session.

Not only have I made these mistakes, but after once-per-week sessions for three months now, I've made and am continuing to make ALL of these mistakes. I'm 6'2", have long arms and legs and basically no "Movement IQ"...other than trying to keep my arms straight. I don't know how to use my legs, engage my core or twist with my hips to make climbs easier, and I leave the gym with my arms, elbows and shoulders on fire.

    1. restricting foot placement footholds.
    2. maintain a vertical position.
    3. hold position with arms.
    4. hips hang out for every moment
    5. hips are too close to wall.

The hip position on slabs advice may be Game changing for me. Im good on overhangs and slabs as the balance and technique seems more obvious there but totally vertical I really struggle and I think this may be my issue. I'm gonna practice!

There's this v5 slab that I've been struggling with and I had this eureka moment when you were talking about hips too close to the wall. There's the disk you have to stand on that I always feel super sketchy on, I wonder if adjusting my hip position will help. Only problem is that the only hand holds are also these sketchy tiny disk holds so it's sort of a balance of being scared of my foot slipping or my hands slipping. Gonna try tomorrow and adjust my hips, will report back! Haha :) thanks for your great videos, been watching a ton of them lately and loving them!

Where is you gym? i dont like wearing a mask on my mouth and nose. It seem that your gym also requires masks but its ok to have them on the chin, whats much more comfortable.

This gym has a rule where you can take the mask off when you’re actively climbing or working out - It’s in Utah, USA
