Supporting families affected by HIV through Comprehensive Case Management

  • Mai and Baba Moyo (Not real identity) from Mutare a U.S President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are HIV Positive caregivers of five children. Of the five children, one is HIV positive and four are HIV negative. The caregiver is participating in the SPACE for OVC interventions which include Income Savings and Lending Schemes, Intergrated Mother Baby-Pair Course, and adherence support.
    Tafadzwa is the second child living with HIV and with a disability receiving adherence and education support through the SPACE for OVC project. Tafadzwa also sits in the SPACE for OVC Child Advisory Board. Tafadzwa 's school attendance is progressing well and her viral load and that of her parents is suppressed.
    The household showcases an overlap between the DREAMS SMART Girls Program and the SPACE for OVC program. Ruramai (Not real name) is participating in the DREAMS project receiving education support through the mechanism. Her school attendance has not been disrupted and through DREAMS, a safety net has been created to reduce her risk of HIV and getting married.
