FACT- Zimbabwe has been implementing the Self-Help Group (SHG) and livelihood project. The project sites are Chimanimani Wards 21 and 22 and Buhera Wards 19, 21 and 24. The main thrust of the intervention has been to enhance household income for vulnerable communities. Project participants (rural women below 50 years and young people 15- 24 years) conduct varied economic strengthening activities such as horticultural initiatives, buying and selling, and keeping small livestock and chickens. FACT continues to support 59 SHGs (28 groups in Buhera and 31 Chimanimani). The SHG approach encourages a culture of savings among communities where members can then borrow money to initiate their income-generating activities.
