Welcome to the crazy adenium hobby. You have just scratched the surface, and the rabbit hole goes much, much deeper! There is enough to keep you busy for many years learning the crazy tricks of East Asians and Southeast Asians to grow these things into monster caudices and adapting them to bonsai. They graft different types together so they have 5 different colors of flower on the same plant, grow big organized radial root patterns, etc. There is enough material on TH-cam from growers in India that you can search for months. They teach you all the tricks, even if you can't understand the language. 😁
Dangggg thank you so much! I have no idea what I'm doing! And I have proof.... I lost many of the adenium this past winter 😭😭😭 it still hurts my heart to think of it. However it also freed up some space ....
@@cookiescacti this exactly what I mean! That sucks btw sorry for your loss hopefully you didn’t lose the one who brought you into the hobby. Learned quite a bit from you, thank you

That's so wonderful to hear that these caudex plants do well in the North too, Patti. That makes me love them all the more for their ability to thrive in all sorts of environments!
Adeniums are so beautiful! In my opinion, they're the hardest to keep alive. This coming winter I will put them in shade and ZERO WATERING from November-March. Gonna starve those B#### . U can say I have a love-hate relationship with them LOL
@@cookiescactii have only one surviving left True story: I watered it yesterday , and last night i had a dream/nightmare that it rotted, just sponge left 😢😢😢

@@cookiescactiI’m totally with you! I think that’s why i primarily stick with cactus. I have some tiny succulents i bought in California. They happily live inside my house.
@@ewamisztal6741 I forgot that my indoor water is softened (salt added), which is very bad for plants. Ever since I learned that lesson I use my outdoor hose water which bypasses the softener (it's just straight tap water).
@@cookiescacti huh thats interesting 🤔. I always filter my tap water and I water my plants with it or I additionaly boil it and use that too or mix of both. Do you think it might be the problem?
@@ewamisztal6741It should be okay... But I also have done very little experimenting on water so I would take anything I say or write with a grain of salt. I would avoid softened water completely if possible.

Hello from Arizona USA! If you're interested in growing from seed, here's a video I made on the materials I use: th-cam.com/video/joCWkDb-cYI/w-d-xo.html Are there other cactus growers or societies in Tanzania? If so, I strongly recommend to get to know those folks. That would be a great resource, especially if you're looking for equivalent materials in your locality.

Wow, thank you so much but it's an illusion 😂 it's a constant disaster in there
Beautiful plant family relatives! Your desert rose is brilliant. Thank you for sharing.

I've got a ton of adeniums and other caudiciforms. They all really want more water than people give them. Think I'm at around 15-20 adeniums atm? Lol.
Cool! They are addictive, aren't they?
@@cookiescacti truly lol
Definitely obesums. Almost all mine are obesums or obesum x arabicum. Only have one arabicum atm :( it is chunky and pretty tho lol.
I love them all! Obesum are a lot easier to find here, many big box stores carry them, which is awesome!
@@cookiescacti same. When I saw an arabicum, much less for 9.99, I had to snatch it.
I'd put your adeniums in wider, shorter pots. They thicken and grow better in shallow, wide pots. Edit. Especially the arabicum.
Thank you for the tip!
@cookiescacti no problem! If you have any nice stone and bark bonsai soil, you can use that, but you'll need to water more often etc.
Did I hear, right? Did you say that your Adenium taught you to salt water? I'm intrigued because I have little watering proplem myself.

Your adeniums could really use more water in summer/ spring months.
Yeah, I water them frequently in the hot months, usually every other day and sometimes every day.
