Fabulous lady, one of my favourite actresses, a little eerie and puckishly beautiful, Hitchcock had real depth and perception when he cast his leading ladies always.
It nearly got out of control but just teetering on the margins this episode, really enjoyable.

So many excitable reactions from Janet Leigh , her daughter Jamie Lee resembles .To add , Both Janet and Peter starred together in MGM"s version of Little Women, thoughhis characters love interest was not Meg (Janet's character) but, Jo played by wonderfulJune Allyson....My favorite version.

At this time period, she and Tony split over Tony's affair with a teenage co-star on one of his films. She was pretty burnt out, this was probably a much needed bit of comic relief.
My favorite show of Password is Peter Lawford Janet Leigh Sammy Davis Jr and Polly Bergen when Polly sings Beatiful for dreamer. I think Peter Lawford waa about to kiss her. That. show was very funny

And she had starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s "Psycho"just three years earlier in 1960.
I had a terrible crush on her husband when at 13 I saw him in a film called, “The prince who was a thief”! And I saw and touched him when they both were in London for a charity show. Got his autograph. Janet was very sweet to us little kids!!

For sure. My 90-year-old mother tells me that back in the day in Las Vegas they dressed to the nines just to go down and pull the one armed bandit. I can’t imagine as I’m there in shorts T-shirt and flip-flops. It’s so dang hot outside.
Same thing happens over the stretch of any period of decades - guarantee you the folks who were living in the 1910's thought the folks in this audience has no class compared to their era; and what's even more frightening is the folks in 2072 are going to look back on 2022 as a time when things were so much classier.

These are so fun to watch, thanks for sharing! Janet Leigh is overacting her adorable butt off. I had to look up Peter Lawford to see who he was and I am impressed (married to a Kennedy at the time of this taping, destined for divorce and the Rat Pack). I love how the host asks the men what they do, and the women if they're married.
The contestants are vetted before the show. If the woman is a "working girl", she is asked what she does. If she is married and has children she is asked what keeps her busy. If she is neither, Allen Ludden asks what her husband does.

Actually Allen was tipped off in advance if female contestants were housewives or career women. He would either say " Are you a working girl" or "What does your husband do?" My mom started working in 1965, there were plenty of women in that office.
Peter really does not like to lose....but you have to love him!
Why do we have to love him? He was a drunken skirt chaser. I thought he was a boring untalented actor too. But that's strictly my opinion. I suppose the women fell for his totally fake persona. RIP Pete

Check out the Lucille Ball and Gary Morton episode. Total cheating with gestures the entire show. But it was for charity so Allen was very lenient.

Did anybody see Janet in the movie made in 1955. It's about Houdin Tony Curtis plays her husband. She is so skinny. She played his wife she Catholic. He is Jewish.
They have some real dimwits on this show, but I still love it! If you can't guess "pizza" from...."Food, Italian, and PIE," then you are not very smart.
There are often other clues in between (such as 'pasta') that throw the contestants off.

@Heinkle: The ad was intended to give the message that Dove wasn’t a soap but more a ‘beauty bar’ and mild on the skin like a jar of cleansing cream. A popular product at that time was Pond’s Cleansing Cream. I worked for the manufacturer of Dove when was it was first released.

Janet Leigh cheated with the clue "Pucker". Allen Ludden should have been able in ALL shows to see ALL the contestants faces as well as their hands. But then again,Janet Leigh was Not the only contestant to ever discard or ignore the game rules.Cheating is Cheating,no matter who is doing it.
