  • Easy salmon patties made from canned salmon. Great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
    PRINTABLE RECIPE: likingourlove....
    Ingredients:
    2 (14.75 oz) cans wild-caught pink salmon
1 medium white or yellow onion, diced
    1/2 cup crushed saltine crackers
    2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon paprika
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    2 teaspoons lemon juice
    5 Tablespoons mayonnaise
    2 eggs, lightly beaten
little olive oil for cooking onions & salmon patties
For serving (optional): hamburger buns, miracle whip/mayo, spinach/lettuce, tomato, hot sauce
    Instructions:
    1. In a small pan, sauté onions in a little olive oil over medium heat. Cook 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are softened and translucent. Remove from heat and set aside.
    2. Thoroughly drain the cans of salmon (reserving the liquid) and place the drained salmon in a large mixing bowl. Pick through the salmon and remove any skin and bones.
    3. Gently break up the salmon, then add the sautéed onion, crushed saltine crackers, parsley flakes, salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, lemon juice, mayonnaise and eggs to the bowl. Gently stir to combine ingredients (don’t overmix), then cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. Note: If your mixture seems too dry to shape into burgers, add a little of the reserved salmon liquid and stir in before refrigerating. If you don’t have this problem, you can discard the liquid.
    4. Once chilled, shape the mixture into 8-10 patties. Size will be smaller and flatter than a regular burger.
    5. Heat a little olive oil on a griddle set to 300F (or a large skillet over med-low heat) and add salmon patties. Leave room in between for flipping. Cook for 5-10 minutes per side until browned. Patties should flip easily. If patty is difficult to flip, let it cook a little longer until it easily releases. Otherwise, it may break while flipping.
    6. To serve, place cooked patty on a hamburger bun along with desired toppings. Or, serve along with grits and eggs for breakfast. Enjoy!

    Looks great.
As a child, my mother treated us with some great dishes made with canned salmon and I have no issues with the bones and skin. While my wife doesn't particularly care for canned salmon, she does love grilled fresh/frozen salmon. I think I'm going to try to sneak this past her 😉.

Thank you so much!! That's great, I heard canned salmon is actually heathier for you with the bones and skin! I never got used to that part though lol so I take it out. Hopefully the salmon patties will be an exception that your wife can enjoy😊

Lol no I didn't say to eat the bones. I'm not sure about fresh salmon, but the bones in canned salmon are edible and sometimes people like to leave them in. Personally, I don't care for them, so in the video I recommended removing them 🙂

I eat salmon bones all the time, and I live I Alaska. The rib bones are hardly noticeable after you cook them.

Glad you have a recipe that you enjoy! The taste of the parsley is pretty subtle, but it adds a little flavor and color to the recipe.
