Apologies to everyone for the delay in sharing this, but better late than never, as they say!
Here is the extremely informative and insightful conversation I had on video with master Chen Zhonghua, in November, 2023 at the annual Chen Style Practical Method workshop in Bogor, Indonesia. He is a lifelong martial artist, a scholar and a true gentleman. Master Chen teaches the Chen Taichi Practical Method passed on to him by late GM Hong Junsheng and he is also a disciple of late GM Feng Zhiqiang who is famous for his Hunyuan Taijiquan and Qigong (influenced heavily by the legendary Hu Yaozhen himself). Both GM Hong Junsheng and GM Feng Zhiqiang were disciples of the great Chen Fake from the Chen village.
We chat about master Chen Zhonghua's Taichi journey, what it was like to learn from these great masters in China and we discuss the nature of Taichi classics where master Chen shares some excellent insights. We continue our conversation and master Chen shares the history and the background of the Traditional Chinese numerological basis for choosing the third hidden point, once the two obvious points are established, in generating unusual power that simultaneously issues and neutralizes (very technical part of the conversation). Grateful to master Chen for being so open and generous with the fruits of a lifetime of research and dedicated practice 🤗🙏
As an added bonus, I briefly get the opportunity to speak to master Chen's disciple, sifu Chen Xu from China, who is well known for his dedication to the art and his skills, not to mention his generous, calm and disciplined spirit. He is known to engage in free push hands with virtually every participant at the workshops he attends worldwide, taking on all comers, in his characteristic gentlemanly style, safe exchange of experience and skill.
Thank you master Chen Zhonghua and sifu Chen Xu, for making the time and also, master Chen's disciple Jojo Juarsa for being an excellent interpreter. Also I would like to thank Indonesian disciples Gora Nebulana and Yhossie Suananda for their amazing hospitality and for organizing this great event! It was a pleasure meeting and spending time with everyone at the workshop and the open push hands competition event. Look forward to next time!

Interesting discussion with Chen. I was especially intrigued by the details around the numbers and will have to look at the diagrams again. I worked a long time on the 9 but did not know about 10 and it is good to know 5 is unmoving. Of course, 15 is always 15. So... This gave me more clues on how to approach push hands with more focus. Thank you Joey for interviewing him. It also comes at a good time for me because I just discovered the third point in my own studies. ;)

That was awesome, such a great glimpse into a time that really no longer exists for training. Very few people around anymore that a person could learn that way. Patients, love it.

That was great Joey asked the right questions. I have seen so many videos of master Chen over the years but there were so many things in this interview I haven't heard before.
