Both Halep and Sloane have very similar games. They're defensive, counter-punchers that can be very aggressive when need be. The difference is that Halep does it all just a little bit better than Sloane which is why I think she will win, but to be honest Sloane has been playing phenomenally so anything can happen. Madison made SO MANY ERRORS. She keeps pulling the trigger way too early in the rally and was just not patient enough. If she slowed down and relaxed, she would be the winner. Congrats to Stephens though, she just put everything in play and that seemed to bother Madison.
I understand that, but it's impossible to hit outright winners all the time, especially on clay. I don't think she had to hit her shots with a 100% pace all the time because she has so much innate power already and that automatically got Sloane in a defensive position. Madison's lack of patience led to a lot of second and third shot errors, when a slightly longer rally could've led to an opportunity to hit a winner on the right ball. If you watched the match, you'd see that her hitting 41 unforced errors compared to Sloane's 11 is just way too much of a dichotomy... she needed to bring that number down just a bit to come close to her 25 winners.
Sloane is smart, but I doubt Halep will lose by making too many errors. If anything, I think she's probably a better defender than Sloane and it will be Sloane making more errors. Even in the grand slam finals where Halep "choked" she never really has beaten herself. Sharapova, Ostapenko, and Wozniacki all had to earn those victories.

Another day at the office it would seem. Ms.Stephens is an example of efficiency in tennis. She seems to have not returned to competition after injury with an air of urgency. Simply hitting balls that come within HER hitting zone. If an opponent makes a winner, no sweat. What is perhaps beguiling is the ease in which she hits balls, albeit practised to land deep. She is a powerfully built woman and her easygoing demeanour perhaps lulls opponents into assuming balls are coming without wrist-jarring pace. It's a nice clean clear-thinking strategy. I like Ms.Keys and again she may have been forced into that syndrome of one having to MAKE the openers and winners and the other returning. With high stakes on the line, there could be mental cracks not easily seen by spectators. She did play better than in USO final though.

Sloane will match her power for power with a greater mental and emotional stability. My Prediction: a tight first set with Simona faltering in the second set.

Looking at this match one of the biggest weakness in Madison Keys game is her MOVEMENT. Keys is not slow but she is not fast and Sloane exposes Keys movement over and over in this match. Sloane also is more patient and she has the speed to track down Madison hard hit shots. Madison really needs to learn more about patience and constructing points. It is a shame Keys lacks variety in her game.

I TOTALLY agree with you on this! Sloane has a Kim Clijsters type of game which features both defense and offense. Keys is jus offense. But SLoane is more versatile. SHe will struggle against Halep who has beaten her 5 out of 7 times but I think that Sloane is going to win the FO because Halep is not good in GS finals. That being said, I think that SLoane can get to #1 in the world and will get there soon

Nice win for Sloane. Congrats to her and Madison showing up as consistent slam contenders. I hope that after this tournament, Sloane can be consistent though:m. I think the pressure of being the targeted player after your first grand slam can be daunting. Then, when you lose a matches, everyone thinks those titles were a fluke and now you can play freely. Hopefully Sloane gets used to winning consistently. Same with Naomi.
Both Sloane and Halep have "mood swings" so it will be interesting to see which of the two brings more fire to the game. I like them both but think Halep needs this win more.
Looking at this match one of the biggest weakness in Madison Keys game is her MOVEMENT. Keys is not slow but she is not fast and Sloane exposes Keys movement over and over in this match. Sloane also is more patient and she has the speed to track down Madison hard hit shots. Madison really needs to learn more about patience and constructing points. It is a shame Keys lacks variety in her game.

The truth of the matter is Sloane Stephens won this match due to Madison Keys mistakes but I will say this this match is a lot closer than the one that they played at the US Open and the previous one. I think that Madison Keys and slowly but surely starting to figure out Sloane Stephens.

She likes playing players that hit hard because she doesn't have to make any real decisions. That being said I still think that she will win the french open on Saturday. Bud Morries not even athletic she had defense and power. Keys can't hit her out of the court at same time she can counterpunch u. And she had superb net play. So she defending and same time explosive. What I like about her the most she loves the big stage. There a reason she's 6-0 in finals. Once she's gets there it's on.
I TOTALLY agree with you on this! Sloane has a Kim Clijsters type of game which features both defense and offense. Keys is jus offense. But SLoane is more versatile. SHe will struggle against Halep who has beaten her 5 out of 7 times but I think that Sloane is going to win the FO because Halep is not good in GS finals. That being said, I think that SLoane can get to #1 in the world and will get there soon

Humm, unexpexted final! Personnally I prefer Halep wins. 1, and especially because she deserves that finally after more finals lost. 2, because as a French, my feelling is closer with a Latina (and francophile) Romania than an Anglo-Saxon USA. After if Stephens wins the final, I will not cry either, and I will be happy for her. But in spite of everything I'll be happier if it's Halep who wins RG2018. ^^
