Some judges really suck. I have a appaloosa and at this one show I didn't place in any of my classes and then I asked the judge well what am I doing wrong, because then I can work on it to preform better. And he said that he can't judge me because my horse has to much color and he can't see the movement of my horse. So yeah, don't let judges get you down.

I just came back from a show and I had done a parcours without messing up and was going to place first but at the last jump I panicked and jumped the one next to it.... if that's not bad enough, I did it again the next time too😭😭😭

i remember for my first hunt show, i was really scared i wouldn’t be able to remember my pattern for equitation (when i’m nervous i’m a very slow learner). but when i got there, i learned it within ten minutes. 😂

I had a my first away show at chagrin valley yesterday, and I don't own a horse so I had to lease one from the barn I ride at. Luckily I got my favorite horse. I got there and my trainer said it's hurry and wait, just like you said. And it was, you had to hurry and tack them up and get to schooling, then wait 30 minutes to start showing. And it was my first time there and it's a pretty big barn, and I couldn't find anything. And I really could of used some of here tips.

omg so storytime: i have a belgain cross and i got hella points off just because she wasn’t purebred. how did i find this out? my mom was standing by the judges booth and heard them taking about how she was a cross and wasn’t purebred. yeah. i didn’t get any penalties however on my course and only got points taken off because my horse wasn’t the breed they liked.
My first show I did walk and trot but I could canter so when I was riding my horse that I was given to ride I cantered her on the schooling on the day of my show to get some energy or but I also walked her and trotted her I did 1 lap of walking 2 of trotting and 2 of cantering and she was calmer and she spazzes out at shows because of the commotion and she hardly did it I was so proud!!

What happens in a hunter jumper class? Is it like working hunter? Do you do eventing and dressage? (To me the majority of classes seem like english showing) Is brown tack most common? Are pony club rallies lessons or shows there? In England, we have like rallies multiple times a week like lessons with pony club mums 😂 Thanks! All of the shows we go to are overnight. Some schooling shows in our area are just one day. Most people use trailers, and for some bigger shows some people will use a shipping company, like if they’re going to WEF or HITS. Hunters and jumpers are separate, hunters is judged on the horses conformation and look, and jumpers is based on time and faults. Also, hunter jumps are natural looking. There is also equitation, which is judged on the rider. Equitation horses usually have a flatter jump. There is eventing here, it is not very popular in our area. Isa is part of Pony Club which is mainly eventing/show jumping. In hunters/jumpers, brown tack is most common. Pony Club rallies are like a show not lessons.
Thankfully I show a horse with two other people (it’s a lesson horse) so we tack up and I help them get ready then I can just wait till the class before me before I get ready for my class. It’s a good thing while also a bad thing, I don’t have as much time to warm up or hang out because the other people have classes that are different then mine. Not to mention the others are younger and want to be in control over everything even know I’m older and more experienced. Hey Rachel. This is my first show for IEA too. I am doing crossrails. As you might or might not know you draw a piece of paper with a horses name. You have to ride that horse and you get 2 practice jumps. They are looking for your ability to adjust from horse to horse. Just remember heels down, eyes up, and thighs against the saddle. I'm sure you'll do great. What region are you in? What class are you showing in. Your trainer will probably know a lot more than me so me sure to ask them before your first show. Good Luck!!

so my barn had grooms and we doent brush our horses off even if u want to because they do it for you. so my question is there another way to get ur horse streched before i warm uo

Even the owner of the horse got last place even though he had a FLAWLESS pattern! He also literally kicked me out of a class just because I was western. And no, it was not an english only class, it was an open pleasure class.
I'm kinda nervous about my first horse show is in may at Twin Rivers Ranch. It's a schooling competition and I don't know what schooling is, can someone explain to me?
think of it as practice show! it’s directed mainly to inexperienced riders to prepare for a more serious show. jumps are typically lower or if you do dressage the tests are simpler. the rules are way less strict.

I ride western and I just bought a POA who parks. my trainer thinks that he was a pony club horse. Could he have been a pony club horse? he came from a horse dealer and came from out of state so i don't know his history and I'm trying to figure it out.
6:59 yes this is so annoying though I have an arab and the judge placed all the arabs last even though they looked the best.... my friend was there too and she was the only one in her class on the right diagonal and she didn't even place in that class it's so annoying

Usually, at rated shows hunter horses get braided! Often, jumpers don't get braided, but it depends on the trainer/riders preferences!
