Good stuff my man!
Been following your channel since you were push mowing. Love that hustler surfer pro. it will be my back-up mower for my Ferris Z1 36". Some of the gates here in Houston are less than 3 feet for some reason and beats push mowing. Also love that it's only barely 450-500 lbs. vs a regular sized stander at 800 lbs.
A few pointers and hope you don't take this the wrong way - just trying to improve your process...
- Mow first, trim second on maintained lawns. This way you're not trimming unnecessary grass and you match the height with the grass as well. I even do this for overgrown / clean up yards. It's much faster...all you have to do at the end is do a perimeter run to clean up the overgrown grass clippings.
- The speed feed is meant to load without popping off the cap. Just line up the arrows to the holes, then feed the string through. Looks like there was a reason why you popped the cap off though I'm sure.
- Always keep a line of string rolled up in your back pocket before you start your day, that way you're not doing the walk of shame back to the truck.
- Same with your trimmer / blower...make sure you top it off after every other mow before / after every yard.
- When a lawn is saturated, forget going back and forth. Just mow in a circle to avoid potential ruts. Once it's dried up, you can go back to going back and forth. I just mow in circles with St. Augustine grass unless I see that it needs a pattern change. Much faster and avoids ruts. Especially with skinny tires. St. Augustine does not stay striped after a few hours.
- Don't smush your edges after you edged with the mower. Keep the tires in between the sidewalk and grass. If you mow it taller than 4", drop the deck half an inches on the edges to bevel it out evenly vs. doing it with the trimmer to save time and energy.
