Sprint cars and midgets are meant to break off very easily in front of the Radiator to dissipate energy. Down tube bending like that is more of a concern, but the parts breaking off like that is perfectly fine.
Way to go CJ! Glad you won after the previous nights disaster. I wondered why the shop lights were on so late. Great teamwork to get this car done and competitive in its first race.
It’s steel mesh reinforced by 3-5 braided steel wires that are an inch and half going post to post parallel to the wall up the fence, it did a great job actually, the tire or rf shock caught the post and actually cracked the cement, considering the circumstance fence did great, happened right in front of us, the no smoking sign ziptide to the fence actually was ripped off and landed in the guy in front of us lap, I said it tn and I’ll say it again kokomo is a top 3 track in the Midwest in every aspect and the safety crews and track workers are literally second to none.
@@natehuts8779 Australian Sprintcar Fan here. With all the detail you put into describing that catch fence, anyone would think you'd have been there (Kokomo) before, am I right?
It was repaired with some zip ties and barbecue grills. That was a violent stop, the sign was the only thing in the crowd. (AFAIK...) (I was there. Saw the sign. Didn't know what that was flying though at the time)😊

Is it just me of is the female interviewer for Floracing is hard to watch with her facial expressions. She's just busting at the seams to hear herself say more fill in bullshit that she doesn't even know about. I'm just so sick of the exaggerated interview style that has taken over since social media. Not unnatural and forced story lines, not a fan. Great driving by the drivers awesome show.
duuuude you do realize that the interviewer is cj learys girlfriend or wife dont you, I think she knows racing , but has to keep some hype for the viewers, she does this soo many nights a year, and this is indiana sprint week for non wing its kind of a huge deal for those that like these kind of cars, second only to maybe kokomo's sprintcar smackdown maybe, as for me I like the winged better they are faster and the wing gives a bit more margin of safety from top impacts and in flips, but this isn't pennsy with the wings and they longer 1/2 miles, this is indiana home of high banked tracks and wicked bull ring tracks, and non wing and midgets, wish we did have one more dirt half beside terre haute, we did but the state fair took care of that and thought horse racing and gambling were more importent and burried the track in limestone.
Those sudden stops hurt....
Hospital hops you mean??
Lucky to walk away from that one
1:12 His frame just shredded into pieces, he's lucky no one hit him after that.
That was a bad one for sure. Glad he came okay.

Thank god he is okay those 100mph to 0mph in a blink of an eye crashes are deadly.
Damn bacon was killin it go Macho Man!
I saw that in my own eyes after that horrible crash 1:13
Congratulations C J on your Victory !!! 🏁
The insanity of building a new car and not using it for 3 years is wild. My wallet hurts.
man idk, it looked like Swanson came up on purpose.🤔😏😕
👍
Is the fence there some kind of plastic netting and not steel chain link? Whatever it was didnt deflect that car at all

I'd say it did not do a great job because it could not deflect a glancing blow from a small car away from that post.

She's the best of the bunch IMO. The GrandPa Jones rip off Chet and his idiot sidekick have me hitting mute more than often.
