I just picked up the 301HG. Considering starting up a channel and doing this sort of stuff. Check it out! Those older green machines are sick too, workhorses of reels that’s for sure!!
2-5 OZ hard baits which rod would you choose? I’m leaning towards either the 795, 806, 836 I see a lot of “the 795 is over powered over 3oz” then I also read a lot of “806 & 836 throw down to 2 oz” I’ve been doing research for the past week & I can’t decide, any advice?
I just watched a few of your videos on the different swimbait rods, so I know you've been down this road. I'm putting together my first swimbait setup... I have a Tranx 300 and was going between the Fury 795 1-5oz and 806 2-8oz. Leaning towards the 806 to somewhat "future-proof" myself for bigger baits and some inshore use, but I have a few S-Waver 168s and other lures in the 1-2oz range. Any thoughts/advice?
Yeah I’d say go with the 806 if you’re thinking you’ll throw some bigger baits in the future! The 795 is great for the smaller baits like the 168 s wavers and some up to around 3.5-4oz but if you plan on going bigger than that I’d definitely go with the 806!
Just ordered the Dobyns Bull Shad Mike Bucca rod. Gonna pair it with Daiwa Lexa Winn 300HS. Have you ever tried that reel? I mounted it on my Mojo Musky so I could try it while I wait for the Dobyns and that reel is amazing 👏. 7:4:1 and choice of Winn double or power handle. 25lb drag. I love it.
@@jamiehegarty_ It's awesome. I have the tatula sv, the CT which are just as nice. Shimano's are badass also got 5 DC's which are pretty expensive the Lexa is just as good if not better. I never have to thumb the reel from 2oz baits to 6oz. I got it for 170 and may get another one thinking about scoring a Champion xp good to 10oz. If not the lexa probably the tranx 300.
Nice man i stumbled across your channel and i live where you are fishing. I have fished that place for a long time. Ive been getting into the big baits and i fish Dobyns and Megabass primarly. Was nice when that hot ditch was open. The plant has a pump in that they open that pumps cool water in from the river. I have seen someone catch a flounder out there.
I am more of a budget fisherman .. I was looking for something similar but not in the top tier price range. I was thinking abu Garcia sx or revo beast x (both $120 right now) or Cardiff 300 and wondering if you had any advice. 168s waver. Deep divers. 3/4oz cranks. 4-6inch soft baits. Looking to pair with Dobyns 795sb. Any advice?
For your next reel it would be cool to see the new Curado 300K. I picked up the 301HG on Black Friday, just waiting for it to come in. I can definitely let you know what I think if you’re considering that reel. This new setup of yours is sick though!! Love all the swimbait videos man, keep it up Jamie!
Yeah i was trying to decide between the curado and the tranx but had to go with the tranx first. They seem to be reliable! But I definitely want to try the curado soon so that’s definitely on my list! Definitely let me know how you like yours! Thanks for the support bro!
Good choice on the Shimano TranX. I'm eyeing the new Curado 300K. My old faithful 300E has been problem free for 7 years.

Thats awesome bro! The new curado is definitely on my list! Let my know how you like it if you end up getting it!

That’s awesome dude and nah I’ve only tried the daiwa tatula 200 but i love that one so far so i might have to give the lexa a try!

I love my 20221 Curado 200. However if I’m looking for a 300 Tranx is definitely built better with components. 😁 awesome video man!
Hey nice vid man & Is the rod 1or 2 piece?
Thanks bro! And its a one piece!
Combo looks sweet!! 🔥🔥🤟
Thanks bro I’m pretty stoked on it!
Love the videos bro, keep up the big work, big fan!
Thank bro!! Really appreciate the support!!
Only complaint I heard about tranx is that the side plate comes off sometimes but mine hasn’t done it yet
Yeah I’ve heard that too. My hasn’t came off yet ether!
SWEET COMBO love the videos keep up the good work
Thanks bro!
🔥!
Love that lake full of studs
Oh yeah!
Should I get a tranx
I would recommend it for sure!
Hell yes man ! 🤙🙏
Thanks dude!
Try the Calcutta D series. You won’t be disappointed
I’ll definitely look into it bro thanks!!
How did you catch a needle fish out of Sutton lake🤣🤣
Dude i was wondering the same thing 😂😂
Super dope content
Thanks bro!
Your mystery fish is a needle fish. I have a Tranx as well (400AHG), figured it was pronounced "tranks"
It’s a needle nose
😳
once you use Shimano, there is no way back. all my set ups are Shimano, except few Abu that I bought by mistake at start of my fishing
Yeah i want to convert my entire arsenal to shimano reels eventually
Diawa does pretty good as well.
@@craigholland2274 I am sure it does no doubt , I am just saying Shimano does better.
@@ata1421
I got some shimano stuff too.
@@craigholland2274 I have Daiwa BG also and MQ is best in their class.
Yooo what’s good seen ya comment on Jon B upload nice to meet ya god bless
That weird saltwater fish you caught was a needle fish
Yeah I looked it up after i got home. Pretty strange but that lake isn’t far from a river that is brackish water so he must have found a way in lol
@@jamiehegarty_ Lol somehow caught a "needle fish"
@@jamiehegarty_ yeah or someone decided to transfer it from there
Thats true!
Needlefish
Bro got a needle fish
😂😂 yeah that’s what I thought it was but wasn’t exactly sure
Looks like a needle fish
Ballyhoo
catches a needlefish on an A rig lolll
🤷♂️🤦♂️😂
