I miss movies like this. Not supernatural comedies, but wild original movies. Nobody pitching this could say anything like, "It's like Lethal Weapon but he's a ninja." Total original crazy stuff.
That's the same complaint that I have about LEGO, they don't do any of their own original series anymore, really. Movie studios don't want to try anything that has nothing to do with comics or ruining a classic for the 40th time.
@tperson8347 It's with everything. The well has ran dry. There's a thing now in music called interpolation, lifting melodies from hit songs & changing the words. You might've seen vids of people comparing new songs to old songs. It's not accidental. We are a species in decline.
That was always kenner problem. Like the real Ghostbusters a bunch of variants of the main character. No lydia ruined it. And i seen no info saying there was ever a lydia planned.
These always looked like they would fit in with Ghostbusters' fright features. I agree they should have made other characters. I think it would be hilarious to throw Otho in with some demolition man figures 🤣 I'd like to see the new movie, but I'm not drinking any Beetlejuice 🤢🤮😂
I agree! I can see that! :) It would be cool to have the Ghostbusters bust Beetlejuice, then take the regular head off to reveal the small head to signify that Beetlejuice is being vanquished. :) Beetlejuice: "Hey! Woah! Woah!! You're messin' up my hair! Woah! WOOOOAH!!" Possessed Dana: "Are you the Key Master?" Beetlejuice: "Hey, baby, how 'bout little head?"
Agreed! And I've had a theory for awhile that one of the Gbs figures might have been planned for the Beetlejuice line. There's that football player whose back opens up like a monster mouth, but his uniform is the same color scheme as the football team in Beetlejuice (the movie).
Beetlejuice is awesome, love the original movie and the cartoon series, hopefully the sequel is good. I never owned any of the toys except maybe a small PVC figure of him, but it was years ago, don’t know what happened to it. Also, if anyone has the MeTV Toons channel, they’re doing a marathon of the cartoon series from Noon-5pm tomorrow.
Boy's toy lines rarely did female figures back then. They figured that boys didn't want them. I did when I was a kid because having nothing but dudes struck me as ..... you know that word.
Thanks a lot for doing this. Thanks for the video
I some how had the vault one years ago, I think from a rummage sale or something because for years I had the little Beetlejuice figure that came with it even after I had gotten rid of the main pieces, but I lost it when I moved years ago, could still be in some box that I haven't looked in, in awhile, but I think it was lost in transit. But it was a very cool mini Beetlejuice figure. 👍👍👍
I had the S.B. and the Spinhead, exploding and vanishing vault. My younger bro wanted the shipwreck one cuz it reminded him of Marty McFly😂 these figurines were awesome 😎
Not having a figure of Lydia (Winona Ryder) was a miss. (No figure of the Geena Davis character (Barbara) or the Catharine O'Hara character (Delia) either). Kenner wanting to move onto the cartoon is no excuse for not having a figure of Lydia since she was in the cartoon. However, we did get a figure of Winona Ryder in the Alien Resurrection line.
I loved the beetle juice cartoon 😁it was better than film👍I had the spin head figure and creepy cruiser 👍they were cool 👍😁I had the volt tomb as well 😁
Good video can't wait till the next movie toys to come out gonna be crazy with the tech we have these days in the 90's they threw everything on the table lol when we had big toy stores
Nana and Papa bought me the Shish Kebab Beetlejuice, vanishing vault and the creepy cruiser for Christmas. They were all inside a WW2 foot locker my Papa refinished for me. At the time I thought, "a wooden box?", but now it's far more cherished than the long-gone Beetlejuice toys.
The one with the Skull n Crossbones hat looks like it's taking a good dump. This was the period I thought figures had gone in the wrong direction. Squatting like He-Man and out of proportion and cartooney.
I think Kenner really missed the mark with these toys. I mean look what they did with the Ghostbusters toy line and all the cool ghost characters and also the ghostbusters themselves. The whole Beetlejuice line felt like they just weren’t trying. The figures proportions were just off. I mean, I get it. They had to make it look a little bit more cartoonish but just the proportions were wrong. I just look at the Adam sculpt, it looks like they just took an existing figures head with that back-turned hat and threw it on there just to save money. Also, why no Barbara figure with a face that could come off showing a skeletons face or one with a detachable head she could replace with the with the huge jaws open? Like I said, it just felt half assed. With the new movie out, I could only hope and pray that someone like McFarlane toys or someone of that caliber would do a line for the new movie and the original movie. Middle-aged folk who have huge nostalgia over the original would buy those up in a heartbeat. Hacking those did well do a line for the cartoon.
NECA recently reissued a couple of their old Beetlejuice figures & showed a new one off at SDCC. I think there's some sort of shared DNA thing going on with the Kenner Beetlejuice & Real Ghostbusters lines. There's a football player in the Real Gbs line that wears a uniform very similar to the ones worn by the team of football players in the Beetlejuice film. And then there's that Granny figure with the opening jaw that a Barbara figure could have potentially used. I really think that football player might have been planned for the Beetlejuice line though.
@@jediknightjairinaiki560 This new one looks like crap, but the first one's awsome. I wish they would leave movies alone, not everything needs a sequel, reboot, or spin off
@tperson8347 I wouldn't say the new one looks like crap, but it's never going to fully live up to the original. That's one of my favorite movies ever. Going to see #2 tomorrow, wish me luck!

The small pvc figure, are you talking about the ones in the Burger King kid's meals based on the cartoon?
The sequel was a smash, I loved it.
Lydia was in the cartoon, too.
Boy's toy lines rarely did female figures back then. They figured that boys didn't want them. I did when I was a kid because having nothing but dudes struck me as ..... you know that word.

Wow. If I would have been a lilttle bit younger back then, I probabaly would have got into these. So many cool things you could do with this line.
I hated you needed to get the stripe suit figure and the red suit figures head to have a movie look beetlejuice.
Just saw the sequel, and it was great. Thanks for this, Junkman!
I had these growing up super fun my all time favorite

I've actually collected most of these figures. Otho and the Hunter are the two from the first series I'm missing. I even have the two vehicles
I have a few of these. Always wanted that vanishing vault, but I don’t think I ever got it.
The prototype for dr beetle juice was recently up on eBay.
Kinda want that Creepy Cruiser.

I’m guess she was for a new series. As they need someone that’s a key character for a second full series
no figure of the father either. But he wanted to play with little kids more than little kids wanted to play with him.

Did the cartoon series get any figures?
They made toys, but not action figures, unfortunately.
There are modern cartoon Beetlejuice figures, though
I kind of think Kenner didn’t have the rights to the cartoon.
