    That woman was unbelievably rude to Shaun. It’s not okay to butt your nose into other people’s relationships and tell them they’re doing something wrong when you’ve only just met them.
    I also don’t think the question ‘Do you have a boyfriend?’ is particularly inflammatory. I wonder if the guy would’ve objected if Shaun had asked a straight man whether he had a girlfriend.

      That fat black lady was the worst , she is definitely an irritating snowflake feminist with too much of a tongue. Weirdly though u can hate will Hooper as much as u want but not only real life this show has shown us too the arrogant ppl often make the best surgeons and there can always be character growth . Morgan herself was quite an annoying character . The season 4 writing has really gone downhill just for forcing diversities and it's disappointing how bad the writing in the covid episodes are , some stupid wfh jokes and randon deaths without objectivity,they seriously messed up by not killing off Melendez actually by covid than by a stupid earthquake if they had to kill him in the first place.

    I understand why Claire doesn’t want and doesn’t like to talk about herself, she suffered a lot as a child, especially because her mother was an alcoholic just like Shaun’s father was an alcoholic and an abuser, so they both experienced such a fate that they lost their parents. Sometimes I wonder why they experienced the same fate during childhood?

    Well, new interns are jerks. Overly sensitive and take any requests for information as being overly offensive. If they havent already figured out, Shaun doesnt have that usual filter. While some would tactfully guide a conversation, Murphy cannot. They don’t know Shaun and judge as a result. Clearly blind individuals in more ways than one.

    Perhaps in hospitals you need to keep things professional (I don’t know). But I work in retail and 3 of my best friends are gay and we all have no problem talking about it and have the banter(joke) about it. I’d do anything for them; we often hang out together and people start to wonder if I’m gay even though I’m not because I hang out with them so much.

    • @jozefpecha3020
      @jozefpecha3020 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      The thing is that Shaun was right - can't get to know someone without asking personal questions. Plus, they weren't really working anymore, right? This was just a get-together... I'm gay and I don't think asking me any of those questions would be rude, offensive or insensitive. Those questions were completely alright, in my opinion.

    • @kpaxian6044
      @kpaxian6044 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jozefpecha3020 I agree. I also am on the spectrum and I like Asher's character He is one of my new favorites. While I do feel like it's better to wait for a person to organically bring up information relating to their private life themselves and then ask questions if you get the green light, I also feel like Asher gave Shaun little signs that Shaun took as encouraging to continue (such as a smile and sort of an amused grin.) But since most of the new interns probably have figured out that Shaun is autistic...if they know anything about autism they must realize that we generally do not ask questions to be rude but to learn more...to understand. And we typically would refrain if someone indicated that they did not like the question (many of us are not as blunt with our questions as Shaun is but this is also a TV show which is dramatized.)
      But the others answered for Asher, treating him like he could not even make his own decisions to ask Shaun to refrain or to even engage in the conversation if he so wished to do so. As many people discuss their relationships, friendships or aspects of their personal lives with colleagues and with friends I feel like Shaun was not treating Asher like his orientation was something that had to be kept hidden because Shaun does not see Asher's orientation as any more delicate unless all orientations are seen as equally delicate (and obviously most people don't treat heterosexuality as a "delicate" issue and readily discuss aspects of their life or their boyfriends or girlfriends etc. quite early on when meeting new colleagues.)
      So in some ways their immediate need to shut down the subject seems problematic because it could hint that *they* are not comfortable with it...whereas Shaun obviously did not see it as an issue because it is not a problem, just a variation or range in one area of expression.
      What the others inadvertently did instead was likely 'teach' Shaun that it is okay for people to ask new colleagues about their partners so long as the person is heterosexual but otherwise "be careful" reinforcing the idea that there is something inherently risky in treating someone who is not heterosexual the same as many others because we still live in a heteronormative society and even people who say they are okay with all orientations still often treat those who are not heterosexual as if this aspect of their being has to be hidden.
      Which is also negative because it seems to be born from the "don't ask, don't tell" era. Sure, some people don't want to discuss their relationships or even their religious beliefs right off the bat but I feel this is based more on the person's own reservations with just opening up more slowly in general and is irrespective of their orientation or religion. Shaun was being inclusive and the issue should have been reframed to indicate that the questions were just too personal because the group was new. Instead, they framed it more like the questions were inappropriate becauss Asher is gay...

    Will Hooper wasn’t that bad. He should have been given a chance (kept in the show)for character development, with more time he would have been a more like-able character and I thought they were overly unfair to him even thou he made some minor mistakes here and there. This show is becoming less interesting to me as it goes. They killed Melendez and now this.. Other than Board-shorts, the rest of the new residents are annoying & non -interesting. Arrgh!!. I think I won’t continue from where I left off i.e Season 4 ep 3

      I really felt that this episode had waaay too much virtue signaling in it. The minority characters were treated with a great deal of respect and the white and Asian characters were treated horribly. Not to mention use of blatantly sexist terms like mansplaining towards hooper, just goes to show Hollywood can’t keep its woke agenda out of the picture.
      I’ve got nothing against the four who were chosen, but I can’t help but feel like it was one big virtue signal to the SJWs of the world and had little to do with the characters skills/personalities. I’m hoping the rest of the season isn’t like this, cause this episode really ruined the series for me.

      You're so right.. it's so ironic that Claire didn't like Hooper because of his "arrogance" when Melendez was completely arrogant and it made him a GREAT surgeon. A lot of characters in the show said that.
      Like did Claire forget about Melendez? Even after he died and said she loved him? All these characters are pretty scarce, the writing is kinda all over the place at this point.
      I should've just ended in the season 3 finale.
