My friend died last week because of this. 💔 He was hospitalised for three weeks. I remember he was given that heparin in the ICU. His abdomen was already bloated he said it's because of the accumulated air. They said he may be discharge next week during our visit then all of a sudden we received a text that he already died. 💔 His sister tell us that the doctor said it's because the accumulated blood clot reached his lungs. 😭

hey I think portal vein thrombosis doesn't cause ascites because it is presinusoidal

Excellent question...Remember, ascites could be due to hypoalbuminemia or increased hydrostatic pressure.
So, in portal vein thrombosis, the most important cause of ascites is increased hydrostatic pressure.

it cause splenic vein inflammation , thrombus formation .
Does it have a treatment?
Coz my father is suffering from it and really we are lost as we do not know what we should do?
It’s treatable...You need to talk to an internist and a surgeon to get advice, depending on the case...I wish you the best.
Get him checked for radiofrequency ablation as well.
