    Man the only issue I have with the video is how Leyland is pronounced one of my college bros works at the main factory of Leyland trucks UK. It's also pronounced LAY land.

    I lived in Limehouse around the corner from the London Docklands, between 1980 and 1985 (ages 8-13). I grew to love trucks back then because I saw so many passing on the road down below by my bedroom window in the 2nd floor flat I lived in, or on the nearby busy roads when I was out playing. I think they were coming from or going to Blackwall Tunnel, or Rotherhythe Tunnel which were both not too far from where I lived, which both pass under the nearby Thames river, one tunnel to the east and the other to the west of Limehouse; I loved the look of the Scammel trucks I saw.
    Over the last couple of years I've watched a lot of TH-cam truck content and often thought about Scammel; I honestly assumed they were a European company. For some reason this evening Scammel came to mind so I decided to do a search; I had no idea they were British made.

    My father was one of the test drivers at Scammell's. The eight wheeler was the routeman starting as a press steel cab and then the fiber glass(known as crinkly). Only leyland produced the landtrain for export markets as Watford was building the Commando in the new K block. Also there was a heavy haulage variant of the crusader the CR100. And one eight wheel variant known as the samson.

    Great photos, but the very annoying commentary bears no resemblance to the photos, and you would think he would at least try to put a bit of effort into his voice, and try to get the correct pronunciation of the English names.

      I think it's a synthesised voice, the phrasing is also a bit odd.

    One of the worst films I have seen, nearly all the pictures were not what the commentator was talking about at the time. Whoever edited it knew nothing of what was showing. If you can't do propper research, don't make the films.

    But isn't S24 a coventional cab and the S26 the cabover?

    • @robertrich663
      @robertrich663 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Correct. Why cannot the pictures supporting this video appear in the same order as the voice over? They are all over the place! What's a "Rowtman"? Surely you mean "Routeman"?

      Scammells were everywhere in the 1970s literally thousands of them ... especially the handyman and trunker artic models virtually every oil company and brewery ran them and loads of hauliers across the country also the routeman 8 wheel rigid which was especially popular with tipper and tanker operators. Later in the 70s came the Crusader artic which sold relatively well but was no where near as popular as the earlier models.

    It’s Leyland pronounced Layland. Not Leeland. And whilst I’m at it, it’s Jag U Are, Jaguar. Not Jag wah. 😂

    The awful narration and seemingly random presentation of images with no regard to the specifics being discussed finally got to me... I couldn't even finish watching. A shame, since I was genuinely interested in the topic! Not every sentence has to end on a high note... Please get a better narrator and video editor!

    Somebody please re dub this who actually understands how to read. The pausing and intonation are absolutely horrible... Its like bad text to speech!
    In fact this whole video is lifted of the scammell register website.. POOR SHOW.
