My brother just installed a solid state drive onto my computer. All of my games kept downloading to C (which was full). It was driving me up the wall until I finally found this video. Everything works great now! Thank you so much!
Naooooo Go to settings - storage - change where new content is being saved - then apply to a different hard drive of you choice THIS IS EASIER If you don’t see your hard drive the make sure it is under This PC in the file explorer
Thats an easy option but not your best. 1. Only saves new content but does not move the old ones to free up space, 2. Does not have desktop or downoads, so any file you drag to your desktop will be stored on C drive 3. Windows sorts where to put those files by extension, if it finds one it cant determine, It goes to C drive downloads 4. Does not move existing files

You can also click on for example desktop,then properties,under location tab swap C: to D: Also you need to have the same user on the D drive,so just rename a new folder to your username on the C drive,but you have to make them identical Then windows will ask you if you want the files moved after you clicked apply
It works but also make sure if you downloading some stuff on browser like chrome. Go to settings /download and set your directory to the new download folder there. That way the files you downloaded goes there instead on the Default C:drive download.
Yes, it should go into the new drive, yes it might affect those programs that require a file location, if you go back to those programs and change the path to your new default, it should work fine.

@@dimzow7055 follow the steps again, go to A: drive and move all the folders to a new default location on the drive you want. You can delete the auto-created ones when done.

Does the download folder show the blue download icon instead of the default folder icon? If it's not the download icon then you're not on the default Download folder.
yeah i had to do this because i was installing a huge mod for gta v but my windows drive has 5 gb left and the mod is over 11gb, tysm for this bro. i am tired of just moving some places to a other drive for space to move it again man ty.

Try following the steps again, make sure your desktop and downloads folder are not pointing to the same path.
After moved the folder into D; , when i download it keep create new folder 'download' at C; . How to solve that?

TheOfficialRav not really. If you have a large C: drive and don't mind using it as your primary storage you don't have to change these folders.

You need to repeat the same steps to move the default to the original place, also check Chrome to make sure your downloads point to that new location.

Always backup your system before doing this. Make like Restore Point to restore things back from the beginning.

If there's too many files in it, the move might fail, this solution is great for new systems.
