for gen z: being gay is chill, people are more accepting, men are more secure in showing their feminine sides. for millennials: alot of homophobic undertones in media and culture that made it harder to accept yourself in general. glad it's changed!
As a millennial “that’s so gay” was used as an insult. It seems to be used less now, used in an ironic way by gay people to reclaim, or when used insultingly is less acceptable to do. Millennials grew up with almost no representation. It started to slowly be available as young adults but Gen z has many shows and movies to choose from and podcast 😉 which means millennials have it now too just at an older age. The lgbtq issue that millennials grew up during was gay marriage and George W Bush trying to put it in the constitution that gay marriage would never be legalized. Gen Z is growing up with heightened transphobic laws and book bans (in the U.S.). Gen Z also has grown up with more legal protections in a lot of states as they enter the workforce whereas millennials had to watch famous gay people get fired publicly and lose their jobs for that.
@@isabel116 things have not changed 😂 people are still quiet about their sexuality, homophobic undertones within the media and tv/online personalities still exist, and the world is still overly homophobic and transphobic as it's ever been. GenZ is just delusional about it. That's the difference bwtn several generations.
I've followed Soph on tiktok for years but I have never really heard her talk at length like this before, she has so much insight to offer and seems like such a genuine person. happy pride :)

As someone born in 1967 my hope is that things just keep improving for all LGBTQ+ people. I just subscribed to Soph's channel. Soph Mosca is gentle, and insightful. It's lovely to hear Gen Z lesbian. She will grow, get to a different platform and find a partner there. Give it 3 years, she'll find the lady of her life.
I am 45 and came out as queer when I was 28. What a journey, omg! I love it when technology is put to good use. Very intelligent, respectful, and supportive interview 👏 🙌 Thank you both!
Just known about this podcast. It's so lovely to watch & know about different stories. Especially me being in the closet....... ❤Greetings from SOUTH AFRICA!🇿🇦
It's OK to not be OK all the time, True. Love this convo. Just being introduced to Soph as I'm not on TikTok. Interesting to see the GenZ perspective. Soph seems to have a good head on her shoulders.
I’m a straight married mom 😆 and I find soph so captivating & refreshing. Watching someone who I see as so young, starting her life, figuring out the normal life crap and being so vulnerable …is really so inspiring. Even tho she says things aren’t how she thought they should be, it all comes in time. Enjoy the moments, feel the heartbreak & the happiness. I hope she knows people do SEE her as a good human ❤
I remember watching her and her ex avery on TikTok living their best lives and being so happy and me in my twenties wishing I was like them with such happiness and being so carefree being lgbt+ they inspired me so much.
As the saying goes..it’s ok to not be ok. I love soph and it’s cool to hear her story more in depth. I forgot she lived in Delray Beach for a little, that’s where I live. Another great podcast. I do kinda wish it was a little longer, but still great and mal you’re great per usual too lol also apologies for that all over the place comment
U guys chose the right person to have on ur podcast cuz she’s so well spoken and mature ❤, love soph been following her for a while and a lot of people know what she’s gone through and how she handled them 😊 I connect with everything she says cuz I had similar experiences as Gen Z, for people who are commenting about the representation and that she should’ve known them and all well no, cuz I didn’t either, everyone has different experiences and only big name people like Ellen would be the only person u would know. I get it, especially if u never looked into it obviously u wouldn’t know. Love soph and I’m so glad she did this!
Wow! Duration of this podcast is 36:51. My love, twin flame, whom I haven’t talked to in a long time was born in ‘87. 36+51=87. I’m 3 years older. She’s 36. And 651 is the area code of where I’m from, St. Paul MN.
you have to remember that Gen Z goes all the way back to ‘96 so there are definitely differences in what people watched. As a ‘98 baby all the gays were watching them for me but I can’t say the same of my siblings who were born in ‘02
This was a really interesting episode, interesting to see the differences between the generations. “This isn’t one tree hill, leave them alone” 😂😂😂 Loved the episode ❤️
Really great interview! So glad how the times have changed and I've been able to help a little bit with that supporting the HRC I knew I was gay when I was 13 but that was 1973 I didn't come out till 1990 Your podcasts are so important I'm so glad you have so many young women you are so comfortable with who they are
An other amazing podcast, thank you ❤ It seems like we all at some point in our lives get to the point when we just have to stop what we are doing, almost reinvent ourselves to become a better version of ourselves. I always said life is a school....all good and bad stuff happen in it are, looking back, just lessons to learn from. Happy reinventing everyone🎉 it might be painful at times...but worth it❤
I love her, she's a good representation for Gen Z to be your guest and one of the only younger lesbians that I follow on social media. I just don't understand the Android hate? I have an Android that costs more than the newest iPhone, and an iPhone for work. Android is by far more superior, it works seamlessly with any of my ecosystems for work & play, highly customizable, has more useful apps (the majority of which is free), and has more varieties. With my iPhone I needed to set up a lot of things just to get it to work with my system, it's just such a hassle, and not highly customizable. The only thing on paper that iPhone does better is probably the CPU and it's not even noticeable. I know it's a game, but out of all red flags she'd ghost people with certain phone really Sorry for ranting about unimportant things, I'm on my period. That being said, I still love her and wish her the best!
Not a rant at all! This girl is so out of touch. I agree with everything you said but for the kids these days, looking and sounding trendy is more important than basic logic.

@@luciadrago949 I think she was joking in a sarcastic way, the whole iOS-android thing seems to be an inside joke or stereotype among some young people, not really serious.
Given that this is Pride month, it would be really nice if you gave some recognition to the Gays and Lesbians that paved the way for the younger generations. Just a few decades ago the LGBT community members could risk being arrested and jailed for expressing themselves. Do the young people today have any idea what there forebearers endured so your experience would be easier? Gays back then risked losing their children, their jobs, their families if they were outed. I'm so glad things are different today, but please don't forget those who suffered and demanded justice and freedom so your lives would be smoother today.
what's the thing against Androids I don't get it, I hate iphones, I finally tried one after all these years of people telling me how "amazing iphones are". Wanted to return it within 1 day, kept it for the full 2 weeks, gave people who asked me what I didn't like it massive detailed lists, one of the main things is I just couldn't do as much with the assistant when driving. Also the lack of customization, I currently have a custom launcher to minimize the visual clutter, can't do that on iphone.
