    Loved this video! I’d be very interested to see a follow up after a few weeks. I’ve imported from them (the Ecuador site) a few times now with mixed results.
    And I also love the blue on you 😊

    I ordered anthurium luxurians and philodendron Amazon sunset & el choko red. We have ecuagenera here in germany, so it took only a few days to arrive. I was so afraid, because AFTER i ordered, i looked a lot of unboxing videos and got scared 😱
    But my delivery was perfekt and as i could see, yours too. So beautiful!!

    I found soil ninja at my favourite garden center and I squeeked when I found worm poo. Its very expensive from amazon and wanted to try a small bag. I've not had it long but I have added to a lot of my pots and I am a huge fan of worms. I'm the crazy woman that picks them up and saves them. I have their slow release feed too. But only on one plant which had not done much but that is so the plant not the feed.
    I wanted thier cactus mix too but I could not lift the bag. I will have to do an order as those pots are lovely.
    The plants you picked are lovely. I normally don't like what people order. I have not ordered out of the UK due to fear. But I've had plants and cuttings from the UK turn up in way worse condition then yours. But had a steplia take 11 ish days yo arrive last December and it was fine.
    I ment a friend yesterday and saw what she had with her and was oh shit where rhe hell is that gonna go. Its a huge monstera hehe. So having the where is this one gonna live. Its a fun game. And makes my years playing tetras worthwhile hehe
    Great video. Have fun and good luck

    Love that coarse “pon” mix. I’ve been loving mixing large perlite/pumice with bark and coco chunk chips. With my helicopter care style more chunks/air = more success. I love the deeper pots too. It’s hard to find that size/depth clear locally for me. Last spring I went to ecuagenera in apopka FL and got queen anthurium, palliduflorum, philo luxurians and they are all thriving. I am waiting for the prices to come down to try some of their anthurium crosses. Thank you for sharing another great video!

    "We don't do heat packs" Uh, I ordered last month (January 2023) and they added a heat pack. Although, it didn't work as the plants came completely and utterly frozen. I probably shouldn't have ordered a Philodendron Luxurians living in Wisconsin in the dead of winter - but I digress. They're sending me another order for free though, which I find extremely generous. I love Ecuagenera.

    P. serpens is doing fine for me, but a month ago I found spider mites, near the leaf blades. It had slowed down. It seems more spider mite prone than other plants I have. Keep it in check and spray it often with soapy water. you got a very nice one.

    I hope you get some bird's nest anthuriums, like cardboard anthurium or some other type of Pachyneurium. You might like the very thick leaves and orchid-like thick robust roots. They can grow very tall and no janky support sticks needed at all that's how thick the petioles and leaves are.

    You sure got some cool plants. The Anthurium Villenaorum is a really hardy one. Totally easy going. Just do not overwater it. Myself, I struck again by the black friday sale and ordered from Ecuagenera Europe 2 lovely plants. Plus 3 from Ecuador which I am waiting for. I have hardly got loss by my former orders and I am a maniac and put them in my living room straight away. ( I love the risk) LOL. Funny enough they all survived.

    It is most unfortunate that you and the others from the UK who ordered experienced poor communication and delays from Ecuagenera. I'm sorry that you had that happen. I've done two import orders from them (Ecuador) to the U.S. and had great/quick communication with them both times from pre-order to post-order follow up emails. I'm not saying that to in any way diminish your experience but to say that I am surprised and disappointed on your behalf.
    The anthurium I ordered acclimated much easier and more quickly than the philos. In fact, I lost two philos over time while trying to rehab them. Despite that, I was pleased with the experience of importing from Ecuagenera. It's important to have realistic expectations (as you do) for any import orders and understand that the plants you receive are not going to be plant shop beautiful and may need time to acclimate if not rehab. I look forward to seeing an update video about these plants.
    Thank you for your channel and all the work you put into your videos.

  • @northliu1196
    @northliu1196 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    My experience with imports are pretty similar, my anthuriums are rehabbing much faster than my philodendrons. I think it’s because anthuriums have hardier roots. My anthuriums were able to branching new roots out of the older roots and they were able to keep their leaves. Whereas my philodendrons roots simply just die off and would need to regrow from newer nodes, they would also drop the leaves they had because of the root loss.

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think that is likely going to be the same with my experience, the Anthuriums so far seem like they haven't skipped a bear, I think the philodendrons based on the roots I saw, might be dropping most of their leaves, but glad I did it finally to see what it was like

    I'm always excited to see import plants unboxing video, please make the update vid after maybe a month or so. In my experience after I bought many plants from Ecuagenera, some of them are declining after a few weeks even they arrived with healthy leaves & good root system, maybe they're just more fussy than the others. I hope yours are strong enough & have a successful acclimatization.

  • @suerivest3651
    @suerivest3651 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh no, I have a serpens in chunks right now from them, it was only 2 leaves , it perked up in water but then had a meltdown , I really hope yours does better, killed the roots, leaves etc, I do have what looks like little nubs starting but wow it had a hissy. The 2 anthuriums are doing great though , first new leaf right now on both , provides some encouregement after the heartbreak with the other one .... that villenaorum is on my wishlist now, so interested to see how it does for you. The regulations about importing live plants are the same around the globe : NO SOIL and official phytosanitary document. I can imagine that Ecuagenera does not have growing facilities in Europe. Therefore, when you order from their "European" or other foreign site, your future plants already traveled from Ecuador to some kind of intermediate place and and will continue travel to your address either bone dry (without moss) or wet, rotten or frozen (with moss).
    The same sad story going on with POP UP orders. A big shipment is moving from state to state in US, and from one country to another in Europe. You are lucky if you live near the first stop !
    I have ordered from Ecuador many times. But only the most desirable plants, so rare and unique that I will cooperate with customer service to pay for the most upgrade shipping, correct number of heat packs, scheduled delivery, etc. For example, I cherish my Geogenanthus with FUZZY RED HAIRED LEAVES.
    We have Ecuagenera's greenhouses in US but the assortment and availability may differ.
    So, if you are after low price and shipping, go ahead and get a "wet stick" from nearest Etsy seller, that is how your "import" ends up in many cases, had enough of it from China, Indonesia, other places.
    I love and appreciate all my Ecuadorian plants, and I remember how hard I worked to pay for everything.

    Question: have you ever delt with stem rot on Alocasia and how do you treat it? I lost both my tiny dancer and my Micholitziana. It's weird because both plants were very healthy and the roots were fine, even as the stem rotted. The stem didn't go black like with root rot. The leaves and stem stayed green. Really fast the stems turned very mushy and whole petioles started falling off until the whole stem collapsed, without ever turning black. So it wasn't like I could scrape off the dark parts and spray with peroxide. I'm pretty sure it was caused by me overwatering. I'm a cronic under-waterer then I over compensated 😔 How do you treat that? Thanks so much for any thoughts!

    I ordered from Ecuagenera Europe this year and my experience wasn't great. Eventhough the shipping only took three days, the plants were bone dry. Some of the roots were already gone. Obviously they forgot to water the plants before shipping.
