oh.... the last episode... Possibly the greatest ending to a sitcom ever recorded! Hopefully you are familiar with poem by Canadian Lieutenant Colenel John McCrae referencing the poppies that grew in the fields of Flanders after the War.
If you want to see Hugh Laurie and Steven Fry (the guy playing General Melchitt) in an earlier English comedy you should look up "Jeeves and Wooster." It's set in the 1920's in upper class English society. Laurie plays Bertie Wooster, a fairly dim upper class English twit and Fry plays his almost supernaturally talented valet, Jeeves. The comedy is pure English and based on the novels of the English writer P. G. Wodehouse. The upper class are presented as pretty much stuck up morons most of the time and Jeeves spends most of his time getting Bertie Wooster out of one jam after another. The series had 23 episodes, each about 50 minutes long and are just hilarious.

Initially they had an act called the Dangerous Brothers. They then went off and did Channel 4's "The Comic Strip Presents..." with loads of other guys on the scene at the same time (Nigel Planer, Peter Richardson, Alexei Sayle, Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Lenny Henry, Robbie Coltrane to name a few). They subsequently went on to do their masterpiece of "The Young Ones" as well as "Filthy Rich and Catflap" and "Bottom". All massively hilarious and definitely worth checking out. Also check out Rik Mayall in "The New Statesman". He plays a corrupt Tory MP, by the name of Alan B'Stard in the late 80s/early 90s. Absolutely brilliant
When Captain Blackadder says ‘It’s like Crufts in here’, the line was supposed to be ’Its like the Battersea Dog’s Home in here’ but Rowan Atkinson couldn’t say it because of his stammer, so Rowan and the writers agreed to change the line.
yes it is rik myall who was the long haired blonde pirate and took blackadders wife or potential wife at the end. yes bob his wife in a previous series was also in this one.
It's brilliant so many good actors appeared in one episode it's why series 4 is my favourite but sadly it also has the saddest finale out of every British comedy in history

Black adder last one is very emotional, the more repeats i watch it doesn't get any easier, black adder & del boy,only top quality comedy with pathos,how dare they make us raw with laughter one minute then get us blubbering the next.i just say these are happy tears..

Lord Flashheart was Rik's best character apart from Richie in Bottom....He was in Season 1 of Blackadder, 2 and 4 and also Blackadder back and forth as robin hood....RIP Rik....Legend
