Question: My friends and I were wondering if you can use talents during a duel? This is was brought up when my friend and I were dueling. They played an action that gave his minion a talent which buffed his power, winning them the duel. Does the duel have to be resolved before talents can be played, or did I just get outplayed?
No. You can't use a talent during a duel. You resolve the actions revealed during a duel and any cards immediate played as a result. (Like a minion played via the Summon action.)
You might want to add a note that mentions that you can unbury a mummy card for free once per turn. It's a common misunderstanding considering that you have to read the rulebook to find out.
Samurai are pretty cool, especially the Bushi. Pair them with the Star Roamers (the knock-off "Star Trek" faction from Cease and Desist) and you have the Smash Up equivalent of Klingons. I like the new mechanics for the Vikings (my high school mascot, by the way) and for the Ancient Egyptians.
All of the dividers feature art from one of the cards in the factions, not necessarily the "boss" minion. If you play with a faction that has a Titan - either one of the Big in Japan factions or one that retroactively received a Titan from this summer's Titans event kit - the Titan occupies one side of the divider, and the other side is the faction divider featuring faction art.
These factions looks really cool. Both Gameplay wise, but also Art-wise. I really like that they look awesome instead of too silly. This set also introduces a few new Keywords, so not a beginner-friendly set, but it has cool factions, whith a more specified and unique plan than usual. I really like it :)
I like the Samurai and Cowboys best. I was really excited for the Vikings but when I saw the result I was disappointed. I don't like the mix of themes here. Berserk mode? Fine. Pillaging? Even better. But both together? I'm not sure about it, especially as I find the pillaging mechanic poorly executed and Valkyrie doesn't make any sense in the deck. She has more to do with Nordic mythology. The Valkyrs chose the warriors who may live and may die in battle, bringing the chosen dying warriors to Valhalla. Also not that big of a fan of the Burying mechanic. But the Cowboys and Samurai are really well designed.
They need to make Skeletons as a faction!
Just announced skeletons not long ago.
Valkyrie makes thematic sense. Are they responsible for transporting dead warriors (in this case, discarded)?
This is a great expansion. Samurai are really fun and powerful!
hmmmm...Ghost Vikings!!! ;)
I like all of these faction. I usually cant say that.
my bets on the next one:
Super Villains , Gangsters , Mayans , GI Moe

Do the dividers come with the "boss" of the faction?
