One thing that is very apparent is that he loves performing, and he loves his audience. And they love him back.
Jimmy Barnes is another great Australian artist, formerly a member of Cold Chisel; his performance of When Something is Wrong With My Baby from his Soul Deep concert with John Farnham and Johnny Diesel(Jimmy's brother-in-law) is stellar.

Hi, this was the second or third encore of the concert from 1989 when John was 40, everything he does live is amazing, try Bridge Over Troubled Waters from his appearance on the Don Lane show of 1979, you have entered a massive rabbit hole, John's first hit was in 1967, enjoy.
His cover of Georgia is astonishing!

For the recorded concert it was only his first encore. His second that night was Sadie and It's a Long Way to the Top. John did like to mix things up between nights.

A contrasting performance by JF, is a song he wrote for his wife, Burn For You. An acoustic version accompanied by Lindsey Fields on guitar is easily found.
It is beautifully restrained.

I recommend any of his live songs. Never gives less than 100%. Look for Amazing Grace with his backing singer Vanetta Field. Truly Beautiful. And that's after a 2 hour concert.

Always listen to John live as the audience brings out the best in him. Anything from this concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is amazing. This was the last song at a two hour concert, every bit as good as the first
3rd last song that particular night. There was another encore after Help where he came back on to sing Sadie and It's a Long Way to the Top. That high energy AC-DC classic was the real last song that night.

You mentioned Tom Jones … he is a fan of our John and they have performed together across the years. Check out Tom and John singing My Yiddish Mother acapella on a local Australian variety program. John is a phenomenal singer who has been performing like this for over 50 years. The man can saaang!
The TV show mentioned above was Hey Hey it's Saturday. It was on TV here in Australia for over 20 years. Tom Jones & John were separate guest singers on the same night. Tom Jones was being interviewed by Daryl Somers (host)when he asked John Farnham to sing with him, hence the joint acapella of Mama. Legendary moment in time! ❤️

I agree 100% to all the other comments here. I would suggest another performance by John Farnham was when he played Jesus in the concert arena version of Jesus Christ Superstar. This version of the show has THE best orchestration of any version ever performed before or since, but John Farnham is amazing. He brings that same gift for interpreting music, and for performing to the crowd to that performance that he does to all his live performances, and it is so good hearing that role performed by a true rock tenor, rather than musical theatre tenors singing in the rock genre which is how the role is normally performed.

It's interesting that you mentioned Tom Jones. John Farnham met Tom Jones on an Australian TV show and got to sing with him, briefly. John l think was a little star struck meeting him. It's on TH-cam.
He also sang on stage with Tom at the Australian Logie awards the sang Long way to the top
Then they did a spot together on our awards show the arias.
They actually did a tour together. Their mutual respect for each other was obvious.
