@Commenter "Well-regulated in the 18th century tended to be something like well-organized, well-armed, well-disciplined," says Rakove. "It didn't mean 'regulation' in the sense that we use it now, in that it's not about the regulatory state. There's been nuance there. It means the militia was in an effective shape to fight." Lol it's impossible. The Supreme Court ruled Marbury vs Madison: Any law Repugnant to the Constitution is null and void. Nobody has to comply with Unconstitutional laws.
Ah, but the devil is in the details. When the SCOTUS wrote “repugnant to the Constitution”, they meant “repugnant in the eyes of the judiciary-especially the SCOTUS”. They did not mean that Joe Sixpack was authorized to decide on his own recognizance which laws are repugnant and which are not as a legal basis for his conduct.
I just heard Juan Williams ask the question, "Did our Founding Fathers really intend for the citezins to have weapons intended for war"? Yes Juan, they did! The Americans had just fought a war to free themselves from a tyrannical government and they intended for the citizens to have the right to protect those newly found freedoms. That is the purpose of the second amendment, not duck hunting.
If "shall not be infringed" means "no one can prevent me from owning whatever arms I want", you're in for a disappointment. We live in a country in which individuals can be denied the right to legal ownership of firearms. That's true right at this moment and has been for a long, long time. We live in a country in which access to automatic weapons and destructive devices also is restricted. People can believe whatever they want about the meaning of "shall not be infringed". The problem isn't a lack in believing in a god or gods, it was that when people realised that there are no gods, they threw the baby out with the bathwater and became divided so far that many no longer view others as human if they are in a different group.
