Don’t worry, visiting the Geysir geothermal field should be safe in my opinion. If it isn’t due to possible ejection of stones, they will simply keep people further back than normal from various vents or geysers.
i agree there is greater pressure for these events. higher pressure is forcing loose over hanging clay (the mud you had mentioned) to be ejected from the geysers.
could be linked to the solar activity as its been proven without doubt to encourage earthquakes volcanic activity , maybe research this and recent massive solar storms
@@ohsoleohmio solar storms like what is happening now would have to had gone on much earlier. its too early for this to ramp up from this. and it would also affect other areas like yellowstone.
Thank you for this news, I love hot springs and geysers. We have a mineral spring on our property that we want to build tubs for people to soak in, which there had been here a long time ago. Wish us luck!
You may know this, but the English word “geyser” derives from this Geysir which is derived itself from the Icelandic verb geysa ("to go quickly forward"). So, this is the OG geyser!
Could this potentially be related to activity on the Reykjanes? There were some pretty major earthquakes and large ground motions associated with that, would it be nearby enough to affect all the way out to Geyser? It seems like the only activity major enough and close enough to have that sort of impact.
I like your spreading rift theory. It doesn't cause earthquakes (at least not usually), but it could create micro cracks that allow water to seep down closer to the mantle than was previously possible. That would allow more ground water down farther, and heat it up faster too.
La redistribution des masses à la surface du globe (fonte des glaciers, inondations , sécheresses, montée des eaux ) est-elle de taille à modifier les équilibres des plaques tectoniques? Peut-elle induire plus de séismes et de volcanisme ?
given the increased volcanic activity caused by global warming(more pressure on the earth's mantle by more water putting pressure on the planet with glaciers melting worldwide) this may be the related cause as well.
Day 19 of requesting The Meers fault in Oklahoma and talk about other intraplate faults and how large earthquakes can hit away from plate boundaries Also this is an interesting topic and I have to say the world of geology is fascinating and always holds secrets waiting for us to discover

My thinking is the eruptions are related to increased dynamic activity of the Earth's motor like core as the increased solar activity pumps more electrons into the earth's magnetic field, which are funneled into the core. Generally there should be increases in earthquakes and volcanism.
Iceland is located at the northern tip of the Atlantic mid-oceanic ridge, which is constantly spreading. It is a very weak spot in the crust where magma constantly pushes up against. I don't understand all the confusion about why geothermal and volcanic events are happening there. Sorry that people have settled there and grown accustomed to the ground heat as a way of life, but the fact remains that Iceland is a huge volcano that we only know about 300 years of actual history about. I guess what I'm trying to say is Iceland is probably entering a very active phase of volcanism as it has thousands of times before people were ever there. And yes, I do enjoy your channel very much and will continue to do so. Thank you for the great content.

just look to biscuit basin in Yellowstone.

Not a good sign.

Thanks as always, Geology Hub!
Fantastic that you have equipment to measure this.
thanks for the information and footage
Thank you for sharing! 😊
Iceland does know how to have too much fun.
GREAT ☆ thank you for the info
I love geothermal videos!
Très beau
Beautiful place.
So glad I have one more thing to add to my list of places to go visit whenever I finally get to go visit Iceland :)
Thanks.

My first thought was, "What does INSAR say?" Ground deformation, gas emissions, or chemistry samples from the springs might provide clues.
It's all Yellowstone to me❤🎉
The day you make a video warning us that Yellowstone is going to erupt, I'm getting out of Dodge!
He won't cause it will be too late
If Yellowstone goes, you won’t be able to hide
He has done videos explaining why that will never happen within our lifetimes.
Na I'd stay and watch the fireworks.
Strokkur - and the whole Geysir area - is amazing. Sounds like it may be getting a little less safe though.

Great topic Hub , what do you know about the geyser fields of Healdsburg CA, didn't they put a power plant there ?

Is it safe to assume that the scenes without sources being cited are ones you took yourself like at 0:55?
Nevermind, it was answered at 1:21!
The hotels nearby draw hot water from underground. It smells like sulphur
Power in liquid form!!
So Iceland is springing more leaks?
Its when the roaring stops...

Strokkur? I just met her!
(I'll see myself out)
So that is where the word Geyser comes from.
I would NOT get close to that.

So we call Iceland the "nation" now? I think this headline only makes sense if written in Icelandic.
You ARE aware it's its own sovereign nation, right?
You are confusing it with Greenland which is a part of Denmark.
Sussy named geyser is sussy.
Recent Solar Flares, Comets and Supermoon drawn more water towards the surface?
No. Solar flares and comets don't influence geysers or volcanos.
Additionally, there's no evidence to support a Supermoon's influence either.
