Because I won't lie - I've been talking crap about him until this year. I told other fans on the SNY channel that there was no way we'd be elite unless Diaz becomes the closer he was that last year he had with Seattle - and he's become even better. Baseball fans - mainly elitist Yankee/Braves/Red Sox fans (sorry but it's true) LOVE to verbally bash us and make jokes when we suck - but VERY FEW OF THEM know how to give credit where credit is due when we WIN. You know it's bad when the MARINERS get more love than we do - and they've NEVER won ANYTHING. Thanks for this. EDIT: and tbh if Diaz ends the season this way without falling off and he DOESN'T get ANY Cy Young consideration - I'm sure he won't win - but a little consideration would go a LONG way in giving this man some kudos - and so far he deserves it. Not since Kimbrel's prime have I seen a closer be THIS dominant. He deserves at least a couple of second or third place votes.
Diaz always had the stuff but obviously it took some time to settle into NY, this season is just special, no way around it.
