Would’ve been cool to see the artwork expand into the discs instead of going cheap and taking the boring black discs from the retail releases and shoving them in the special edition box
I completely agree with you that it would've been far better if HBO had thought to expand the artwork onto the discs.

Xuande12 who cares what the discs look like honestly. They put a lot of money into the presentation and it doesn’t cost that much more than the regular complete series set. It’s looks amazing but damn they ruined this show with S08.
man this would have been awesome. but satisfied either way with this purchase. this thing was way bigger than i thought. it's like record albums.
Would have been way more expensive than already is if they had to print these new discs for this release alone

Dude! He said Tyrion as "Tyrone"!!! What else do you expect! This would have been a great unboxing if the one unboxing was a real fan. He knows about the Red Wedding, he hinted on "NOT TO SPOIL ANYTHING" from the Artwork. But he couldn't say Tyrion's name right. He must be from what's west of Westeros :D
It should include exclusive stuff you can only get in this edition!

Hazrey Tomyang hey are. I got one from Best Buy and there is a lot of defects on it. You expect better quality for the price.
Seems like they won’t hold up. I hate when cases slide out like that and the cardboard gets soft and starts to peel. Not fair to people paying such a high price. Expected to be very set on buying it after seeing videos, but will def pass on it.

They released season 1 and 8 in 4K but I would rather have the complete series box set in 4K

People really got upset because they didn't get a happy ending, for a show that always warned you to not expect happy endings. You would think the red wedding was the biggest hint of that

The outer case is a slipcover on the UK set (I’m from the UK)
I’m going to pick up the Blu ray standard edition at some point.

Only problem I see is the slots where the disc go would get badly damaged after a bit of use

Most impressed by this collectors edition, especially the box and the hand of the King pin/locket.
However...
VERY surprised (and actually quite disappointed) that for a COMPLETE series/set there is absolutely no booklet/disc containing the overall story/synopsis/characters/analysis, ect..
For fuck's sake, they did/had that within the very first season release in March of 2012. You'd think by the end of the COMPLETE series they'd have TONS more to add.

I highly doubt that they will make a 4K version this nice as they are trying to do away with physical media...if we get a 4K version at all.
I can see those disc getting scratched over time due to how they are placed in that cardboard holder.
Excellent review. I know my wife would love it but there's no getting away from the fact I would be paying £180 for a box! £300 for this, vs £120 for the standard collection? Nope.
that king's hand pin is a nice touch...
It's very impressive but I also think the inside sleeves should be wood or even leather. Also the discs not having art on them is kind of a dis to fans who bought this. It's still a really beautiful set. Enjoy it. Great video.

gorgeous . it's on sale at amazon and best buy still as of 5/11/2020 and i just got the last copy at my best buy. so excited. haven't watched this show since the TV release and i need to watch it on blu ray now. i miss this show so damn much.
You probably know by now but the plastic is removable so you can display the box unobstructed. I also managed to put my pin in, it just took a bit of wriggling
I'm glad I didn't waste my money on this. It totally lost me with those cardboard sleeves. sliding the discs in and out of them can scratch them.
I've heard blu-rays are more scratch-resistant than DVDs.
@@JamesLawner I have seen some blu Ray's with scratches due to packaging similar to this. I wouldnt take a chance just because they want to save a buck. Remember when companies use to care about packaging discs? Pepperidge Farms remembers. Lol
I have lots of packaging like this. My blus never scratch. They should've done these in 4k tho, especially for the price!

What is the audio format? Does it include DOLBY ATMOS?
The artwork in this set is stunning.
BUT the price is ridiculous, especially given some of the cut corners/quality issues.
The artwork/sleeves being cardboard is silly - your set is already showing wear and tear after 1 maybe 2 times of removing the disks. They should have been either wood or metal for the price they're charging.
The "leather" strap (which should have BEEN leather for £300) is clearly too big for its slot and too tight for the pin making that feature pointless.
Finally the disks themselves are cheap looking and detract from the beautiful artwork - they should have the artwork printed on top so they blend in near-seamlessly.
If these issues didn't exist I could just about justify the extreme price-tag (maybe) but with these flaws it is just unreasonable.
What's the point of you pulling out amd showing us every single disc? Who cares they are boring black blurays. We came to see the art work and hear your thoughts on the quality & feel of the product.

I have all the steelbooks in 4K, and really to me the only thing I want is the wooden box and the artwork, which is awesome. But I don't wanna pay 300bucks when I have all 8 steelbooks in 4K.

I preordered it a long while ago, got sent before I realized it was released already. Gonna sent it back and just order the 'normal' version as some point. Way to frigging expensive to justify it.
You pay like ~150-200,- extra for pretty box and only 15 hours of content (including commentaries it seems) and not even 4K.
I'm going to replace the plastic with glass, if possible.

I like it but I am not a fan of disk slips like that I would rather have them clip in or something more sturdy but if it ever goes for cheap because all of them didnt sell I might grab one but I think 200 is my max on what I would pay out

Not only not 4k, there is nothing of added value on this box, other than the box itself.

For a set this expensive it should've been 4k
man, those little ticks and dings on the cardboard would drive me crazy on something brand new. I hate the way they have the discs in those cardboard things, whenever a disc is in like that and you put it in and out they always get scratched. I was thinking of getting this instead of the normal full set, but i think with those issues i might be out. Shame with the quality control, and the belt strap, even if you got it to fit eventually it looks like it would break in time.

So the standard set gives you the digital copies, but the collectors edition does not, major fail by HBO, I’ll just wait a year or so and it wait for regular version to go on sale for a more reasonable price
First he mentioned at the beginning of the video they give you a code for digital copies. I can also confirm that this is across the board because my set also came with digital codes. (The advertising was pretty crappy for not even mentioning this.)

I just looked at this on Amazon, at the specifics. It says it is dubbed in Spanish???? Why the hell would I want that? I want the original voices of the actors in English. Is this a mistake or is there some way to specify so that I do NOT get a dubbed version?

What is with studios and their need to use these craptacular cardboard sleeves? I would actually pay the amount this cost if it came with traditional disc holders and I didn't have to worry about scratching the disc every time I want to watch.

anyone else find the disc menues confusing. if I watch an episode and stop, when I restart it doesn't remember where you stopped. this series as a whole always eceded my expectations.

Hi, on Amazon the only subtitles listed were English and Spanish. The Asia edition with mandarin/chinese subtitles costs an outrageous retail price of 500usd (400+ on discount), so I'm wondering if the copy from the States is really missing out on the mandarin/chinese subtitles. Wally World has last season for $30 gonna pick it up for completion sake and the special features
£300 v £120 for the regular BR complete series... Its not worth the extra money IMO, the discs are exactly the same. You're really paying, frankly, for the naff art on rubbish card slips and the cheap oversized wood and leather case. £150 and I might have paid the extra. Hardcore fan with no taste and too much money to burn. No thanks. Winter is coming.

That doesn't disqualify the quality of the first 6 seasons. And even if the writing sucked, the visuals of Season 7 & 8 are worth owning, in my opinion.
JakeTS1992 well i totally agree with the first have of that statement. True. But for me stunning visuals without anything else is just eye candy and life is too short as it is. If I re watch season 8 I believe I would regret it on my death bed. (50% serious)
