Love these auction videos, it's like walking into a very expensive sweet shop!! Lovely cars especially the Alfa gtv spider, one of my favourite cars as a kid and that Mondeo was a beaut too
Good video Trevor. That Focus ST was a bargain. Quick true story featuring an XJS. It's 1984, I'm working as a sub-contractor in the audio industry, working very hard, not doing bad, me and my friend who I did a lot of work with had just bought brand new XR3i's, which at the time were fantastic and at the limit of what we could afford. We needed some help on a contract and my mate new of a guy that had the skills so we contacted him. He turned up for the very informal interview in an XJS 5.3C. When you park one of those next to an XR3i, boy what a difference. It just blew us away, literally. They are fantastic cars, if I had a few less projects I would have snapped that one up. We felt like poor relations at the time, but as it turned out, the guy was a bit of a con-man, owed money all over the place and got the XJS (which was 100% financed) repossessed before the contract finished! At least I got to keep my humble XR3i.
@@robertallen3441 Ah, right Robert. That'll teach me to fast forward to the auction bits! Didn't pick up on that information. I liked the Mondeo as well, amazed at what it fetched, as you say, a lot too expensive.
Amongst the various UK car auction videos this is a standout in its presentation and picture quality. Clear and concise information plus splendid editing with the individual car plus auction being coupled together. 👍
Great video. Love seeing these auction videos. You make it very interesting with the short intro to each vehicle. Hope you make some more auction videos.
The Audi TT was a full restoration job. The MOT failure sheet was the longest I’ve ever seen. Shame really, it must have taken some abuse during its last year on the road.
Finding Oscars Garage, I’ve finally found a gentleman who is as passionate as me about anything automotive. His knowledge and engineering interests are incredible! 👊
@oscarsgarage447 what might be an idea for a video would be one of your car history and experiences, you occasionally mention various interesting motors from your past.
Clearly I am a "certain age', my dad's boss had a CX GTI turbo. He went for the weird having an Australian Ford Fairmont estate at one point, when they were briefly imported into UK.
I love your channel. Its a flex its so low production value just to the point. The level of detail you get who needs cut scenes. Its like watching one of dads mates you are brilliant at this. I never once wonderd where are these cars today. Until you shown them. Bringing back memories 2007 ish best year. But that Indian guy wow. Banglor bangers watching his garage run was a circus literally. Barefoot crawling over the roof level mechanics. Lipu lippy his idea of car design was just stupid. They had bob idk the cockney he'd get the car alright. Then lima watever would craft it into a birthday cake car. The online bids on these auctions are convenient i would want video feed of these online buyers like covid did. Let the room see its fair. Wow a GTE my dream car as young teen. Not too fast but small cos i drive two wheels on the path The plate is awesome for carl 222
The Z3's vary in price by a massive margin. You often see them for less than £1k and as much as £7-8k with the M version on another level. Mostly down to mileage and cosmetic condition. I need another one to run around over the summer and perhaps another Tribute build !
I watch a lot of car auction walk arounds. This popped in my YT recommendations. It has the best photography and picture quality. Nice to watch someone who genuinely knows his stuff and not grifting it from Wikipedia. Loved the BMW 530 touring. I worked for a couple years for BMW in the 1990s. The 525, 530, 535 back then were best car on UK roads. Though 518, and the 520 with auto box were under powered and painfully slow. The Z3s are ugly ducklings in my view
Well done Trevor, very interesting and informative. I wonder if a few are now getting their confidence back a bit? I'd think your money could be better off in a "Classic" rather than sitting and waiting for a certain "chancellor" to try and swipe it. 🤭
Out of interest, has any of the auctioneers commented on if they believe that E5 petrol availability will be extended beyond the 5 years originally agreed between the FBHVC &the Dft ? I think this agreement is due to expire in twenty months.
To be fair it must be a difficult job to do. I imagine some guidance will be taken from the owners expectations, but also the two phone bidders wouldn't let the other have it so carried the price higher!
auctions are filling up with gas guzzlers that will be unaffordable to tax come April, THE 40 year tax exemption will soon be closed, the future is K cars 800cc which is enough to do 70mph
As I said in an earlier comment its not a job I would want to do. Seller expectations are a factor, both high and low, and of course auction houses prefer lower estimates to attract more bidders and hopefully the price will rise as a result. ST24s like that are a rare thing, and they admitted it was a bit light but they (and the winning bidder who I know) didn't expect it to go that high. To be fair they get the majority right.
@@oscarsgarage447 Personally I have two HQ Kingswoods, an HQ SS and an HQ Premiere ('71 to '74) and a 1960 FB Special, all Holdens andall at various stages of restoration, ... but some of those sports edition Toranas and Falcons are damn nice too.

Owned an 05 5dr st170 couple of years back, wish I'd kept now seeing what they're worth!!!
Glad you like them!

Thanks, and great story, there are plenty of chancers out there.
The ST 170 didnt have a very good MOT history due to corrosion, probably why it was cheap. The Mondeo ST24 was my pick, but too expensive for me.
@@robertallen3441 Ah, right Robert. That'll teach me to fast forward to the auction bits! Didn't pick up on that information. I liked the Mondeo as well, amazed at what it fetched, as you say, a lot too expensive.

Blown away with that, fantastic cars, well done with the content, will be interested in the next auction. 😊
Thanks and welcome aboard.
Great meeting you there and a great round up. Darren earnt his money on that CX25🤣
Great to meet you too. If I could of got round copyright issues I would have used Benny Hill music 😂
Thanks again for this Trev, great stuff
Glad you enjoyed it

GREAT WORK FELLA JUST GREAT WORK GETS THE BLOOD FLOWING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved the Citroen I remember a time when you'd see a fair few on the road but that one is a rare one so I hope the new owner takes care of it
Be great to see it properly recommissioned

Great video as ever, loving the auction stuff

Might be the stories around them rather than the actual vehicles...

Thanks. I think the Z3 is a bit of a marmite car.
Those Alfa’s are future risers for sure
How do you pay on top of hammer price ?
10% inc vat

Thanks. We shall see as the year goes on...
The Alfa seems like a bargain.
Great video.
Thanks! 👍 I agree, the Alfa was a car with potential.
Yes but from April this year, cars over 25yrs are now to be taxed including the vintage ones too,
Don't believe so, the 40 year rule is continuing - do you have a link to where you found this information?
@ Only off the bbc website from last week me personally they should leave this alone,
What did the red pickup make?
£2600 plus fees
For me not really classics except for a few, some nice old cars like the mondeo and the nova gte,so not necessarily cheap on prices i think but fair.
After market wheels on BMW 530? To avoid paying for continental size tyres .
Possibly, metric tyres are expensive
@ yes I had a 1996 525i fir 8 years , couldn’t bear to get rid but several tyre dealers offered.
for the original wheels .
That seemed a fair price for V9 wagon Bimmer.

They haven't as far as I am aware (and as it might put off buyers I guess they wouldn't) but I might do some digging on the subject.
15:08 “Pedal it home when it ran out of petrol.” In your dreams! 😂😂😂
Well according to the manufacturers claims.. 😂
Why would they guide the Mondeo ST24 so low. That was ptoject car/banger territory. I would have been very happy to own that for what it sold for.
To be fair it must be a difficult job to do. I imagine some guidance will be taken from the owners expectations, but also the two phone bidders wouldn't let the other have it so carried the price higher!
@oscarsgarage447 true but at least the seller got fair money for it. Beautiful car.
I imagine seller was pretty chuffed...

Time will tell.
I don’t think an XJS will ever been in the same class as the E-type
I don't disagree, just think it is becoming less overshadowed by it.
BMW Z3 for less than a grand?! I want one!
I know... so tempting...
Whoever estimated that mondeo St clearly doesn't know the market when it comes to Fast Ford's

I have an idea what about the red chip fat Mercedes from fifth gear haven’t seen that car in years ?
Never heard of it but will add it to the list and take a look.
@ thank you
That was all the money for the rusty Jetta.
It did go for more than I expected.
@@oscarsgarage447Wonder what rust was on the underside?
The problem is, is that not one of them is as cool as Aussie classics.
Please put forward you contenders for consideration...

I'll be honest, I had to google those, but do look pretty cool.
How so? Are you an expert?
Seems a bit rude
BMW are shit
today it looks like you can call anything a classic
only until 2010... Virtually all
of today's garbage will ever be classic
