@@colie2020 no. Anytime I've seen that, a comedian has basically addressed them before telling them to shut up, then kicked them out if they continued to talk.
@@colie2020kind of, kind of not. Most comedians unfortunately DON'T deal well with this type of interaction with the audience, and structure their routines AWAY from allowing people to interject like that. When people DO interject, it's often seen as heckling, and the job is to try and "shut it down". Josh has the ability to lead audiences TO the moment he wants, partially because of his style of making it feel more natural than scripted. It's a VERY hard line to walk, and he does an amazing job of execution.
Drake can't seem to grasp the reach of not like us, everyone around the globe were tuning in, i live in a tiny twon in india and we were all up to date with the beef it was great
Full circle moment - I'm a high school English teacher and knew about the Drake/Kendrick beef tangentially. It was Josh's bit on the beef that led me to the music. Kendrick is a world-class poet AND a musician with an incredible ethos. He put that all together, along with zero-fucks-to-give about Drake, and TORCHED him. I'm enjoying this continuation of the saga.
Same here. I didn't pay enough attention to Kendrick Lamar and I've just listed to almost all his stuff. Josh's first set about the beef made me interested lol
I’m sure this comment will get lost in the sea of bots, but I used to work in at for a studio owned by Warner in my teens - early twenties. Moved from Texas to LA, because I wanted to be a in the music industry. I wasn’t trying to be a big artist, so this isn’t coming from a place of anger or jealousy. I was a studio musician, then recording engineer and then did some producing. But the industry works exactly like Drake’s complaint describes. It’s like… not even a secret if you work in the industry. At that level, it feels like a pageant where you are trying to show off your artist to the higher ups and say “look, this guy/gal is marketable, this is a great song, etc… get it distributed through your means.” So it’s really like that, and it is actually kind of why I left. I had the realization that I wasn’t really involved in the art of musicianship anymore at all, and it felt hollow. So the fact the DRAKE, out of all people is the one bringing this up, is really funny to me. Because I have to be honest, I’ve always really hated Drake. He has always been kind of the epitome of what I hate about the industry and its hollowness. And yet with this petition, he kind of has become the champion of fighting this machine that almost made me lose my passion for music. Like, this level of irony, combined with the coincidence with my personal experiences makes this whole saga stranger than fiction. And to add a whole other layer, that may make this even harder to believe, I literally graduated last school about 3 years ago and work as a whistleblower lawyer. I read these petitions and thought… this reads exactly like a whistleblower claim. The only thing it’s missing is, “claimant has knowledge of these practices and a contracted musician with the defendant, who had benefited from these practices in the past.” 😂 Or some similar language. Because you can’t just make big RICO claims like that without SOME evidence for standing. So it’s so funny that it doesn’t say that, because HOW DO YOU KNOW DRAKE?!? 😂 The last thing I will say about this is, Drake could make this type of claim about 95+% of popular music out there, EXCEPT for Not Like Us, which is hilarious. Because NLU is one of the few examples in the past many years that seemed to get to the top absolutely organically… a testament to Kendrick’s lyricism and like Josh said, his exceptional timing. (Full disclosure: I’m a big Kendrick Stan). So ironically, from a legal perspective (and this is very hypothetical) you could have a case where everything Drake is saying is true… and it is… but it’s thrown out of court because at the end of the day, all these shady practices occur everywhere else but not with the song at issue here. 😂 Anyway, hope someone enjoys my lunch break ramblings and you get to impress your friends with this knowledge at the bar tonight.
If Drake plans to file suit in US federal court he could be waiting a *very* long time for a judge. Personally I agree with John Oliver and think we have to stop litigating America to death, and that maybe you could try (ego forbid) to make light of the whole matter and move on, but of course every artist is entitled to their own opinions about that.
@@Winspur1982 Probably extremely difficult to make light & move on from a situation where you are $400,000,000 (contract) in debt to an entity and that same entity chooses to allocate their technical resources (aka bots, LOL) wholly to the benefit of another artist they are in business with in a direct battle against you; or so Drake is alleging. The MOST IMPORTANT SINGLE WORD in the music business is "RECOUP" which is also basically a fairy tale concept in the music business as most artists interestingly seem to never 'recoup' their way out of debt to their label. i think Drake sees this as his opportunity to (at the least) get out of that $400M contract with a partner that he feels back-stabbed him and potentially damaged his earning potential in the process, thereby making it potentially impossible for him to ever 'recoup' and earn his freedom or maybe an EVEN LARGER PAYDAY from them. Colossal allegation for sure. Can't wait to see if this advances and whether he exposes any real receipts. IMO, a victory for Drake just might get the attention of government law-makers & benefit the smaller indie artists if the system gets broken down between the major labels & streaming platforms, at least for a little while; until they create their next payola hustle.
In the beginning, Kendrick lifted the copyright of 'Not Like Us' , so content creators went crazy with it and it spread like wildfire. You could mostly post it without TH-cam strikes and did not have to pay for Spotify to listen to it. To me, that's the main reason it went so viral. I love how this lawsuit just indirectly confirms Drake has love kids running around he isn't supporting.
There wasn't any official statement from Kendrick that he won't claim videos. The labels make claims on music so it was most likely the labels choosing not to claim temporarily to maximise vitality thus profits from the beef
The actual smartest move this year was J Cole bein’ like “I am just gonna go over there and shut my damn mouth for a bit, cuz I am not ready for that smoke. Peace.”
Idk it looks like he has some demons to hide. He’s retiring, shutting down his label, and shutting down his festival. He’s either completely at peace without music anymore or so tilted he rage quit
hey josh, i’ve been going through a rough patch, i’ll spare you the details but i found your channel a few days ago and man, i’ve felt a lot better. the way you present yourself is so entertaining and you’re an incredibly smart guy. i wanted to thank you for helping me through this, a lot of your videos have taught to me ideas and concepts on an emotional level of self-understanding i wouldn’t have reached at this time without these amazing stand ups. your brief talk on the id, ego and superego was super interesting to me, and to be honest the consistently funny comedy is what keeps me listening, and it helps me learn about myself and others in a deeper way than i ever would have expected from a youtube video. don’t know if you’ll see this, and i know it’s not much, but i sincerely wanted to thank you in some meaningful way. if you ever tour anywhere in scotland- i’ll be there front row.
The anticipation & laughter when Josh starts cracking a smile is unmatched in comedy. To be so in sync with your audience with brand new material on the reg. is…silly. 🙌🏼
Interesting... I think the opposite. I think the smiling and half smiling he does the way he does it looks fake and forced. Also the way he starts off saying certain things with a stutter also sounds like he's forcing it to sound like it's thought of on the spot.
And what about it? Comedians have a style of talking and this is his. The only thing that matters is entertainment, which you wouldn’t know about because you seem miserable lmao

Since hearing about the botting claim, I genuinely listen to Not Like Us three times in a row anytime I hear Drake's name just to inflate the numbers a little bit more.
616 LA, Euphoria, Meet the Grahams and Not Like Us was playing in the boombox while me and a bunch of other white nerds were playing Magic The Gathering here in Brazil. I don't think Drake and Drake stans really grasp how huge and how good Kendrick's music actually is
I think of all Josh’s videos, this is the greatest example of Josh’s ability inform the audience of current events, make them funny and relatable, while also painting a picture of what it all says about our culture. All of his sets are great, but this one is incredible
If Drake ends up winning and the music industry is exposed in court I'll still have to thank Kendrick, without that public ass whooping Drake would've never destroyed the house that built him
These lawsuits will never see the light of day. Two things to note: one, he'd have to prove that he didn't benefit from the same system that he claims benefitted Kendrick. Two, the only reason he didn't sue Kendrick direct is because then he'd have to actually prove that Kendrick lied...and something tells me that he can't prove it.
@@christopherbullock6679 Nah bruh, if Kendrick can't prove Drake is a pedophile he will be guilty of libel. The burden of proof isn't on Drake. I'm not sure what him benefitting from the system has anything to do with the suit. If they don't make it to court it will be because UMG and Kendrick settled out of court, else these are seem to be really strong cases.
Michael Jackson, Prince and others have always said this about the industry. Listen to TLC and Prince talk about how everybody is getting paid except the artist. How much money is lost.
And George Michael. I remember when Prince showed his support for George Michael's battle/struggle back in the 90's. I remember when some people were not so kind to Prince because they did not understand his plight.
This stuff reminds me of all Prince went through with his record label. Changed his name to a symbol to get around regulations because they had a claim on the name he was given at birth.
Prince was the most authentic** all* encompassing* musical icon to ever do it. Like from the ground up. They couldn't ignore or cover up TALLENT that raw so they tried thier best to limit it's reach/impact.
I had to explain Prince changing his name to a symbol to a younger person last week. They were shocked. Prince will always be the genius of music. Even when he was forced to make albums. I really miss him and his undeniable glory of taking his power back. Big love for pointing in his direction. It has to be said. Big love. Best
@bawnfordays73 It's the it won't happen to me syndrome. I watched the N*Sync documentary about their manager. After their manager lost Backstreet Boys and N*Sync very litigious and publicly, he tried to create a girl group. And they signed their life away to him. One even had a lawyer look at the deal, and she still signed after he told her that was the worst deal he'd ever seen. It's the desperation of wanting to make it.
I kept waiting for him to talk about the third fight to bring it all around but I realized that I have no idea what the hell is going on with those "gentlemen" so I still don't know
When I was younger, I would have harshly judged someone like Kanye And he does deserve judgment and criticism for a lot of things, especially promoting hate and misinformation and harming children at his school through his erratic behavior and terrible policies But as an autistic person who has experienced burn out, meltdowns, and breakdowns as an adult, I can empathize with him Kanye is also autistic. I understand how it feels to be overwhelmed by the outside world, all the sensory stimuli and information Our brains are always processing information. We don't tune out unnecessary information like background noise, we take it all in. Studies show that our brains process an average 42% more at rest than non-autistic brains All the information comes at you and you're always thinking about it, you rarely or never have a moment of peace away from your thoughts So you're thinking and thinking about all these problems, trying to understand why they happen and how to stop them Meanwhile the people around you don't seem to notice or care about the problems It can lead to you frantically trying to communicate the thoughts in your head to people who are confused and possibly even scared because you sound like a crazy person I think Kanye thinks he can fix the problems that upset him because he has money and fame now, but he can't and he can't accept that The only way to really change things is to get out of your own head and build relationships with other people working toward the same goal
I'm a middle aged white man that listens to jazz and trance music. I jammed to Not Like Us multiple times a day for weeks. It was the greatest song in a long time.
I was just saying something similar to my Wife. like. I thought I was done. I thought I knew what my favorite shows were and who my favorite authors were and who my favorite artist was. Honestly, previously, I would've said I had a few faves and it was different depending on the day. But, thanks to the Internet in just the last few years most of that has been upended and while I still love what I used to, even though I'm 34, I've actually recently found stuff that means EVEN more to me to the point that I feel like a kid again-- cuz now I DEFINITELY have a singular favorite that stands above the rest in most of those categories. I'll never understand people who completely lose that curiousity, that willingness to look. Cuz, he's right. They're just waiting for ya, somewhere, out there! @@nonstopcooltopI really hope you don’t mean what it sure sounds like you mean. Seriously? All the reasons Drake is a talentless hack and you’re gonna try to be antisemitic about it? Really?
Facts. Kendrick, Whitney and Dave probably thought everything Drake said was pathetic and laughable. The Not Like Us music video basically solidified that. lol Drake has no idea what its like to have lifelong, ride or die people in your life like Kendrick is surrounded by. Drakes fake industry friends and people he has on payroll to be around him don't come close to all of Kendricks day 1's. That alone shows the difference in character when it comes to them both. Outside of any rap lines that was spit, the way Kendrick has moved the past year is to be highly respected and something to aspire to. It's nice to have role models again, especially ones who aren't afraid to grow up and mature with age.
That's why Kendrick even cared. Until Drake did the AI Pac shit it was still lighthearted from him, it wasn't PERSONAL. The drake brought up Whitney and that NEVER goes well. Don't bring up family members in a rap beef, that's the shit that gets people shot
@@austinrukweza455I guess the difference is there’s been zero speculation prior to Drake about Whitney being abused while there is plenty of speculation about Drake based on things we’ve seen him do

🍿 it’s a whole movie with a sequel 😂😂😂
That’s dope…
Same here. I didn't pay enough attention to Kendrick Lamar and I've just listed to almost all his stuff. Josh's first set about the beef made me interested lol
You said you're an English teacher twice?
Oh wait, no, that is how you spell "tangentially". Nevermind. 😂
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I’m sure this comment will get lost in the sea of bots, but I used to work in at for a studio owned by Warner in my teens - early twenties. Moved from Texas to LA, because I wanted to be a in the music industry. I wasn’t trying to be a big artist, so this isn’t coming from a place of anger or jealousy. I was a studio musician, then recording engineer and then did some producing. But the industry works exactly like Drake’s complaint describes. It’s like… not even a secret if you work in the industry. At that level, it feels like a pageant where you are trying to show off your artist to the higher ups and say “look, this guy/gal is marketable, this is a great song, etc… get it distributed through your means.”
So it’s really like that, and it is actually kind of why I left.
The last thing I will say about this is, Drake could make this type of claim about 95+% of popular music out there, EXCEPT for Not Like Us, which is hilarious. 😂
Anyway, hope someone enjoys my lunch break ramblings and you get to impress your friends with this knowledge at the bar tonight.
Thank you for taking out the time to type this. It was incredibly insightful

As a law academic, former lawyer, musician and a hip-hop head , this made me chuckle 😂 thank you for this total gold of an insight.
And Drake enforced copyrights. Two men, 2 choices… 1 clear winner. If you say Drake, you’re wrong.
100% he got a bunch of kids lol he’s just trying to paint it like he doesn’t
The song went viral cos it was good
I live in Ghana 🇬🇭 , and it’s everywhere
The song was also being played by old white country folks at my work 💀 not like us ran the world at a point
There wasn't any official statement from Kendrick that he won't claim videos. The labels make claims on music so it was most likely the labels choosing not to claim temporarily to maximise vitality thus profits from the beef
Josh doesn't "do stand-up", he holds court, he preaches, he makes you think. ✌🏼

Drake updating his enemy list rn
Opps list 😂😂
Michael Jackson, Prince and others have always said this about the industry. Listen to TLC and Prince talk about how everybody is getting paid except the artist. How much money is lost.
@jordanvictoria5 Dionne Warwick, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson...the list goes on and on...
And George Michael. I remember when Prince showed his support for George Michael's battle/struggle back in the 90's. I remember when some people were not so kind to Prince because they did not understand his plight.
And look what happened to them…🤷🏾♂️
That code switch at "Gentlemen", so smooth
This stuff reminds me of all Prince went through with his record label. Changed his name to a symbol to get around regulations because they had a claim on the name he was given at birth.
Prince was the most authentic** all* encompassing* musical icon to ever do it. Like from the ground up. They couldn't ignore or cover up TALLENT that raw so they tried thier best to limit it's reach/impact.
I'm shocked that people are STILL having issues with the music industry AFTER Prince. He warned everyone.
I had to explain Prince changing his name to a symbol to a younger person last week.
They were shocked.
Prince will always be the genius of music.
Even when he was forced to make albums.
I really miss him and his undeniable glory of taking his power back.
Big love for pointing in his direction.
It has to be said.
Big love.

I was thinking the same.......!

Love the Ye translation and basicly every point of view you have in general.
When I was younger, I would have harshly judged someone like Kanye
And he does deserve judgment and criticism for a lot of things, especially promoting hate and misinformation and harming children at his school through his erratic behavior and terrible policies
But as an autistic person who has experienced burn out, meltdowns, and breakdowns as an adult, I can empathize with him
Kanye is also autistic. I understand how it feels to be overwhelmed by the outside world, all the sensory stimuli and information
Our brains are always processing information. We don't tune out unnecessary information like background noise, we take it all in. Studies show that our brains process an average 42% more at rest than non-autistic brains
All the information comes at you and you're always thinking about it, you rarely or never have a moment of peace away from your thoughts
So you're thinking and thinking about all these problems, trying to understand why they happen and how to stop them
Meanwhile the people around you don't seem to notice or care about the problems
It can lead to you frantically trying to communicate the thoughts in your head to people who are confused and possibly even scared because you sound like a crazy person
I think Kanye thinks he can fix the problems that upset him because he has money and fame now, but he can't and he can't accept that
The only way to really change things is to get out of your own head and build relationships with other people working toward the same goal
Hi Friends. Let me know if you’re going to catch the live premiere

“You have not met your favorite artist yet”. Love this so much!
Outside of any rap lines that was spit, the way Kendrick has moved the past year is to be highly respected and something to aspire to. It's nice to have role models again, especially ones who aren't afraid to grow up and mature with age.
@@austinrukweza455 lol, keep them coming, got another wild one?
Just say you’re a drake d rider bro don’t act like you gaf about women
That's why Kendrick even cared. Until Drake did the AI Pac shit it was still lighthearted from him, it wasn't PERSONAL. The drake brought up Whitney and that NEVER goes well. Don't bring up family members in a rap beef, that's the shit that gets people shot
@@austinrukweza455I guess the difference is there’s been zero speculation prior to Drake about Whitney being abused while there is plenty of speculation about Drake based on things we’ve seen him do
Best time of the week. A new Josh set
14:28 hell nah. MJ made his own music, sang his own music, danced, brought up talent, etc. he and Prince became megastars DESPITE the industry. Drake became as big as he is because of the industry
Didn't he.. start in a group with his family? That's where he got known
But yeah drake likely did get more help, mostly from social media and streaming
MJ made his own music? Have you not heard of Quincy mother fucking Jones?
They both were child stars, what are you on about
@@xXSprMgaAwsmFxyHtXxPrince was never a child star!
Drake was "chosen"
