    Finally got one today from my AD. Really love the watch, the understated look but very refined details.

    Hey man, from Syria- I bought this watch last August after selling my Submariner to fund it- it is an elegant watch. A mature man's choice. Cheers

    I love my 124270 Explorer. I also have a 36mm OP and they are not the same watch, They have different cases, clasps, bracelets, dials and hands. They are two of my favorite watches in my collection.

      You made a good choice, the 36mm OP is a great daily watch

    Most comfortable watch I own. I live in a hot climate and can wear this all day everyday. My heavier watches I take off as soon as I get home.

    If you only want or need one Rolex then this is it. What I'm so impressed with is the accuracy of the movement which puts a lot of other sometimes even more expensive marques to shame...!!.

      @@Mrvicious999 wrote, "Why is this the original? Honest question here … always thought it was the seamaster"
      Answer: Because the Rolex Explorer is the watch worn by 007 in the original James Bond novels, which existed before the movies. The Omega Seamaster is typically known as the James Bond watch by people who were first introduced to James Bond from Bond movies starring Pierce Brosnan as 007.

    Can you please explain the function of this watch and what it does besides telling the time? Would love to know what makes it different from a standard oyster perpetual, thanks and great video

    • @LocalWatchGuy
      @LocalWatchGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t serve any other purpose rather than tell the time.(Hours, minutes and seconds)
      It differs from a standard black oyster perpetual in terms of added text and numerals (3,6 and 9 markers) as well as a different movement to the OP. Thanks for watching and Im glad you enjoyed the video :)

      @@LocalWatchGuyGreat video and I totally agree with you...However, the differences with the OP are not the movement because they have the same one, the 3230 (the same as the sub no date too). The explorer has a shiny black dial while the OP is sunny, and of course, it has the safety clasp as only on the professional range of Rolex

    • @ninjesus4079
      @ninjesus4079 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      there might be a better shock absorption too compared to OP and more secured clasp

      The function of a watch...to tell the time...so why not just use a smart phone, which is more accurate...its art, the awe of the movement, the craft work of the case, the sentimental element, the experience with the watch..the highs, the lows...it will last the rest of your life and beyond, a part of you is imprinted on it....one day a derserving person will be delighted to receive it...telling the time...its only a small part

    i prefer my 39mm MK2, it always intrigue me when i look at that beautiful matt dial, by far the perfect dial i have seen on explorer, glossy dial comes with concave at the center of the dial, which is not very OCD friendly 😅

    Unfortunately, the term "underrated" is used ridiculously often. Since I would have to wait up to 3 years for this watch, I can't do much with this term.

    Don't know about the modern versions, but was informed, during my visit to Rolex factory to collect a replacement for my 34mm Explorer, which Rolex had "lost in the post" following a shoddy service which had to be re-done (so much for Rolex!), that the Explorer was basically an AirKing but with a different dial. In other words, their most basic watch, yet the prices for these vs the Airking are mental. Just goes to show what a bit of hype can do!

    • @LocalWatchGuy
      @LocalWatchGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, this is new information to me! Always thought the Air King looked a little too familiar
