Hello young man I live here in Dallas Texas I always find your videos so fascinating because I’ll be honest with you I don’t think I could figure that one out. Well also I’m 60 years old when I was trained many many many years ago things were a lot simpler now engines and everything else that goes underneath the car has gotten to be so complicated you need computers and stuff like that but once again thank you for your video God bless you and your family and all your viewers thank you once again for a fabulous video. ✝️✝️✝️🇺🇸
@@ricardorodriguez-se7tp mr. Rodriguez do you work in the shop or do you do your own repairs at your place residency, I’m asking because I have a van it’s giving me all sorts of trouble so I was hoping to see and talk to you through email? God bless you sir please let me know if you were interested and doing some work for me thank you and God bless you and your family and friends.✝️✝️✝️🇺🇸
Honestly. Goes to show that assumptions are a tech's biggest enemy. I would have assumed the job was done right for time's sake, but that would have cost me the job. Nice reminder to just take the extra time to be sure (where reasonable)!
If a less knowledgeble investigated he would have diagnosed a faulty new high pressure fuel pump the replacement which would not have solved the problem. Top marks to you diagnosing the real cause!
Congratz, fantastic process of doing a proper diagnosis. Thats exactly what separates a mechanic from someone who just throws parts at a repair hoping to fix something along the way. Sure, you could do that, but that'll cost a lot of money. Aint gonna lie, as a mechanic, sometimes I also have to take an educated guess, there are just too many variables involved and way to many deviances between car makes and models but thats NEVER an excuse for not doing a proper diagnosis. Eg for example, practically all petrol engines prumye the fuel pump at the key on. EXCEPT for my 1.8T A6 which fuel relay sends a signal to primes only once it recieves a signal from the crankshaft sensor... I spent 4 days trying to figure thay out... At least it was my own car. Also, just for the record, I never trust anyone who said that they have already replaced parts thenselves. You never know what was the quality of the said parts. I remember fitting a customers camshaft sensor having given in to their reasoning that what they bought was "good enough"... Only afterwards I double checked the product company (as the customer never gave me the original parts box) and it was one of the worst aftermarket makes anyone could buy. Swapped it out for an expensive part and suddenly the ECU could register camshaft rotations properly.
I replaced the cam follower in my sonata and was advised not to since those Fuel lines carry a whole lot of pressure. Great video! You sure don't make it easy to decide weather XTool or Launch...
I enjoyed the part of the video when Eric said they have blown engines in the back. I guess I am happy with my rescue Honda Civic with 224k miles on it. She ain’t pretty but gets 31.5 mpg. Great video.
XTool lost many cool points. That was hilarious how you were giving multiple props about the tool. The top secret function they wouldn't let you talk about. Then the units of measure fiasco. Epic.
Nice catch by any time you loosen the high pressure pump bolts and the high pressure metal line they all need to be replaced. They are torque to yield bolts and the high pressure line is designed as one time use as well.
i have lost count the amount of times people have done this on the 2.4 theta gdi hyundai / kia engine , yet when i have had to replace rocker cover gaskets i have never had that come out , but such a common issue if you are unaware
You gotta know the system in order to diagnose it. Early on in the video I was thinking a slightly worn camshaft, but you have to do the tests like Eric did here. Learned something new about the roller. Do all GDI pumps have the roller like this Kia? I have a 2020 Toyota RAV4 with the A25A FKS engine that has GDI. Does this engine have that roller? Good diagnosis Eric! Thanks for this video.
I have xtools D8 and regret it, not reliable or consistent. Should’ve gotten a launch like Eric! Now I’m selling my xtools, doesn’t do a lot of things it should and like Eric said I can’t wait days for an update.
Launch for the win. I know you are trying to highlight other scanners, however, I'm biased to the Launch. I enjoy all of your content, but the content with the Launch are the ones I save. Keep up the great work.🤙
Hi, love your videos and the way you diagnose electrical components. I have a convertible F type that the convertible top is not working. Have even changed the module and no luck. Have done a lot of work on it, I feel like I don't trust anyone with my car but I'll definitely would like if you can work on it.
I mean nice find but correct me if I'm wrong but I could hear a tapping noise coming from that engine when it was running. Hopefully there is no cam damage without the roller.
I have a quick question . I was watching a video from awhile back . The one with your brother chevy cruze . Did you ever get that fixed? I saw that he needed a catalytic converter. I'm have the same issue with my cruze . Getting a po420 code also .
Even though you are not familiar with Hpa vs Psi, you could have continued with the original scanner. The important facts are the relative numbers When there is a difference between actual vs requested of 3X, you know what you need to know.
xtool needs to add a recent vehicle tab or vehicle history. It's so annoying when I go back into the same vehicle I'm working on and I have to re-autoscan it
That would be the reason for a sign that reads, if i fix your car i charge $40 and if you try to fix it first $200, and thanks for sharing the 431 update
I have a 2013 Hyundai Accent with the same code. This thing turns off when intermittently and is hard to turn on. You leave it alone and then some time later it will turn on and work fine. Low pressure pump tests good. High pressure pump puts what it is asked to, no difference. I have only been able to duplicate the issue once and noticed that when it turned off the coils were not firing, but it does not set a code for anything else other than a knock sensor code. I know its hard but any guidance would help.
Hey Eric, My Coworker has a 2017 kia sportage 4 cylinder with 92K on the clock. This thing is going through a quart of oil every 250 miles! It dont smoke and it dont leak. She took it some place and they replaced the Valve cover and pcv valve and it made no change. Any ideas what she should try next? Im baffled!Lol! Thanks
@@davidhall3747 plugs are directly in to the head, where oil splashes up and lubricate the entire inside 9f the engine bes8des water channel's. So oil 9n plugs is normal. Lol u shud be more spwcific like if the oil 8s a white whipped cream looking colour then the head has gone/piston ring's or even bott9m end. Least you tried to help i suppose thats the main thing
Off topic message but this was your most current video to date but what is the launch tech support contact and are they pretty quick to reply? I’m looking to get the launch x431 series unsure which yet but I would like to go with someone with quick responses and xtool and autel take a day sometimes to reply and by then the job I need help on is gone and out the shop by then. Autel is a tad bit quicker to respond than xtool but wonder how quick launch is with tech support
I still use my snap on vantage pro. It’s compact and and takes care or most of the jobs I need the scope for. I have a 4ch also but the vantage pro is great for jobs like this. I wish snapon would still have updates for it. Sometimes it’s easier to just get the connector view from the scope itself.
kia replaced my engine and never put the follower in. good thing i had an extra. a customer of mine had a kia sx turbo engine replaced and told him he needed a new fuel system. all it needed was the harness extension clipped in
You never know what you'll find when you're looking into other people's problems. Hell of a good job. Been working on vehicles since 1972.
thats a lot of experience🎉
Cleaning up after someone else is tricky sometimes. Excellent diag!
I got a car. Went to change plugs all the nuts that hold the plugs in were missing 😂

The average mech wld have never observed such essential piece was missing. WOW!👍🏾
Welcome back! Thankfully the cam was not destroyed. Thanks for sharing 👍
Good job!!
At the beginning of the video I guessed a flat cam, but that was just a guess!!!
Thanks for the video!
Very informative..!

Great vid, Eric!!!!
Tremendous teaching techniques ! Great video shots to coincide with your coaching ! Thanks !!!
Excellent diagnostic work!! you never cease to amaze me!!! 👍
Another brilliant *cough cough* DIYer that ended up spending more money than if he went straight to a competent mechanic. Superb video, Eric!

Hell of a diagnosis and fix brother. Great video
Being missing the new vids, great diag!!
Love how the gas light was on at the same time
First class diagnosis 👍👍
Long time no see man... Welcome back bro
Hi Eric the video was awesome keep up the good work😊
Did you rule out leaking injectors because a lack of a rich condition and a rough or dead miss?
Great diag. The steps were easy to understand and great explanation
HE'S BACK!
X tool not so great 😂 good old launch👍. great diagnosis
Great video Eric ,which type of camera 📸 you are using?
Very nice video,Waiting for FIAT part 2
Please share or add the fuel pressure kit you use to test the low fuel pressure.
What feature was he talking about when he said xtool didn’t want him showing anymore?
Thx
Welcome back
Great video, I’ve tried the xtool but it wasn’t for me. I’m in Houston, how can I take my car to you?
Hey I'm from Houston and have issues with my AC I seen a older vid where you fixed one. Do you have your shop on the area?
Great work
Loved T-shirt with the new Logo
Eric, have you ever used any of the Top Don diag tools? If you have, do you recommend any of them?
How’s it going, would you say this unit is better than the LAUNCH CRP919X?
Glad to see your informative videos

GREAT job Bro....
HE'S BACK!, WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG????? 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Thanks for this video. keep up the good work. Thanks
Great work sir👏👏
I wish I lived near you these shops in pa are terrible at diag
I don't think anybody really uses the HPA lots of people use PSI instead it's so much easier to understand
Chingones tus videos me gustaria que isieras videos en espanol tambien pero tal ves no lo able porque tienes un color European muy bien asentado
I would think fuel pressure guages are SI units, they would give the same units of measure across the board..
