Not exactly. If you check your luggage at the little self-check computer kiosks you can't do that with guide dog!s bag. You have to ask them directly at the ticketing counter to check it under your reservation as your guide dog's necessary equipment. Our most recent trip was the first time I'd tried checking for free, I was too scared to deal with an argument previously, so I had only carried it on before!
Thanks for this great video! My husband was matched with his first dog this past summer, and I am going to get mine this May. With the bowties and other accessories that attach to the collar, would I need to use a separate regular collar in addition to the chain training collar? Also, do you find that the cooling vests bring out the wet dog smell while in public? Thanks!
Congratulations to both of you! Oh my gosh how exciting!!! The cooling vests do NOT amplify wet dog smell or make them smell like wet dog LOL. That sounds funny... I’m not sure why, but it’s not an issue we’ve had. I do groom daily though (brush) so maybe that is part of it? Re the collar, with bow ties or a tie that goes on the collar. I did not need a different collar. Figaro was issued with a martingale collar and he still uses the same collar. I may get him a cute collar from Curly Tailed Hawk on Etsy, but they make the cute patterns WITH the same martingale chain piece that his current collar has, and a quick release (important). But, his tie at graduation was just one that slips over the collar. When you have the tie or bow tie on the collar and are actively using his leash or harness, the chain martingale piece of his collar tends to sit slightly off to the side closest to you, so I put the tie or bow tie on the fabric area of collar just off to the side of the chain piece under his neck if that makes sense. Congrats! So excited for you guys!!
