I don't remember that as an episode, but I didn't think she came forward until later. Been a while, memory could be a bit fuzzy
I was only 7 or 8 when it came out, but i watched it obsessively, It helped me become the woman I am Murphy Brown was who I wanted most to be in the world.
I was probably a baby around the time this show came out but I watched the reruns with my dad and fell in love with it. I was excited to see it was getting a reboot 😁

I can't wait. Sadly the original series proved not to be able to draw an audience in reruns and the season 1 DVD set didn't sell well.
It's very hard because they are trying to bring back a feeling from another time and so much has changed since 1998. Good luck to them.

This is great that the team is back - I remember seeing somewhere that Donald Trump took Candice Bergen for a date once, and its not an experience she wants to remember.
She was on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live and talked about him and her going on a date.
She should have brought Charlie McCarthy as a chaperone. Hope “the Donald” didn’t stiff her for his dinner.

my daughter, now 40yrs old , suffered a head injury at 14 yrs.old .....when she woke up, for a couple of days , the only "people" she ~knew~ were the Simpsons & Murphy Brown.... lol ....it took longer for her to believe that Murphy Brown was not a real person........ but she is fine now, and is as tough as Murphy...........proud momma
Murphy’s come back was just I hate Trump, I hate Trump, I hate Trump. Nothing more. If these characters more fleshed out and get more of a reason then just hating Trump we may have had a longer run.

CBS Sunday Morning did a segment on ‘house staging’, in case
you don’t know what that is, its were an empty house is dressed for sale by
making it appear, lived in. Very much like what television viewers experience when
watching a newscast, the producers take ordinary plain looking Janes and Joes,
make them appear exciting, by adding facial make-up, hair dye, give them news
copy, stage them before televison cameras, on a news room set, then tell them
to read the copy, and if necessary, to act like a journalist…and if convincing,
with increased viewer numbers, pay them a million bucks…

I wish that Jim would be on. I also wonder if Murphy will have different secretaries every week. The only time I really watched was to see the secretary every week, this was really mom's show to watch, not mine.
It's working!! Taking a look at the varied comments here, it's plain that the time is right to bring back a series that can let us laugh a little, at the insanity that is politics. Now PLEASE, somebody in charge: make sure this season (technically, #11)doesn't get mired down with Motown's greed-based "music rights" so it can be released on DVD. Yeesh----people can walk on the moon, but we're still waiting for the complete seasons 2-10 of "Murphy Brown"!

Lots of hate-posts in the comments---which shows Murphy can still pop the hot-air balloons. The reboot, currently on Amazon Prime, plays well when it's not constantly compared to the earlier series. Great cast, and Candice Bergen and Jake McDorman play well off each other.

I wish that this show had lasted more than one season because I was really enjoying it.
I love that Jake McDorman plays Avery Brown. I loved his show "Limitless", but like all quality shows, it went down the tubes from no viewership.

I have watched both new episodes hoping to see a glimmer of what made M B so great the first time around. There just doesn't seem like there's a spark, that the whole attempt is tired. I am sorry because I had high hopes. I'll watch it for the next few weeks hoping I am very wrong.

I am so excited that Murphy is back, they will do what many elected official officials are failing to do. Telling us about the issues that really matter. We owe you guys big time. Finally something that makes you laugh and at the same time brings important issues of our daily lives in our face. This might help those that do not watch the news because how depressing they are to realize it is important to know what is going on. The most crucial thing I learned about the 2016 election is that some folks that do not want to take the time to be informed of what is happening here and in the world took the word of someone that said I will fix your problems, only I can do it and voted. I am hoping this show will change some of that and people decide to spend the time to find out more about what is going on, there are many places you can go to find information that are not politically motivated. This is my humble opinion. I am soooo looking forward to see the show!! Welcome back!!!
The 1st 15 minutes of Stephen Colbert on CBS, The late show, is also a good & humorous place to learn about the days "news" about what is going on in the white house and the Donald. I am looking forward to Murphy Brown Show, too!

I saw this episode, very funny
The scenes with Murphy and a now adult Avery were the best part of this reboot. Those scenes were perhaps the most like the originals in spirit. BUT, the rest of the reboot was somewhat weak. None of the other characters ever married or had kids? Also, as much as I don't like Trump, the original series seemed to be less biased. The reboot got VERY preachy. I'd have liked to have seen a conservative character who'd have been a good foil for Murphy... maybe Tyne Daley's character. Daley's character was supposed to be a former homicide detective from Manhattan ... yeah, seems to me they don't tend to be liberals

As a kid I was a fan of Murphy Brown. This show should have ended after the first four seasons but in typical Network fashion they let it go on too long. I didn't realize it actually ran for 10 years. The backlash this time will simply be that Americans won't watch it LOL. As much as I loved the Old Murphy Brown I did watch it last night.

Exactly!!! It's possible he'll make a guest appearance or two (the actress who played Jim Dial's wife passed away a few years back, so they could mention Jim as being a lonely widower).
He will be back in a three episode story arc. Kimbrough is 81.

That's not true-- Full House, Roseanne, and Murphy Brown were all old shows.

What happened to Jim’s character?
Loved her show back in the day and even now I watch the reruns and was so looking forward in seeing her new show and boy was I disappointed, I watched until killery came on and turned the channel won't be watching again again, really believe they need to stop bring back the old shows always disappointed, hollyweirds need too start coming up with new ideas.
I don't understand the people upset that Hillary was on. The bit was funny. The former secretary of state interviewing for an actual secretary position after losing the election? That's pretty funny. She made fun of her email scandal even. You really couldn't stand to watch a sitcom because a person you didn't like showed up for 2 minutes? The show was always politically driven.
The show was ok for a first episode of a show that has been off the air for 20 years.
