Christian Gonzalez VII was good, but it wasn't great imo. I did, however, thoroughly enjoy VIII and IX more. Those two had better tightly knit stories without needing tie-in after tie-in for it to completely make sense, but that's just me.

I remember back in March, when I went to Japan, and at this one store in the Tokyo Skytree Tower, there's this one little corner which sells Square Enix merchandises, and this exact video was playing.. I just basically stop & stood there (alone),. & keep watching until the video ends, and even repeats until three-four times.. strangely (& quite mysteriously),. I just felt sooo much warm feelings, smiling myself, and even honestly almost shed some tears (manly tears),.. it's not just simply because of nostalgia (although yes I'm sure it's a big part too),. but, as a musician & gamer myself,. Final Fantasy series means almost EVERYTHING to me,. the music, the games, the magical/fantasy world & stories.. it's like a safe place/refugee whenever I want to escape from everyday's sh*tty reality/real-life/real-world.. into the beautiful, magical, imaginative, & wondrous, liberating world/universe of Final Fantasy! words can't express of how much I am deeply thankful & glad for this beautiful game series/title.. thank you very much Square Enix.. it's all what I need in this cold, harsh reality/real-world/real-life.. :')
I started actually going out of my way and collecting games in the series all thanks to Theatrhythm. Yes, I got deep into the series from the music alone.
I only played VI before I bought theatrhythm, then discovered the other. I also began to play Chrono Trigger, NieR and Bravely Default because of the DLC
Guess that's the hidden power that made SE make Theaterythm, to introduce to the world the music headfirst as an incentive to learn more and even play the worlds they came from.
Everyone, we are living at a time when an actual history of gaming is being made. This, Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, etc. etc. are the roots and beginnings and catalysts of recovery after the Atari shock. They are the living legends that have left their mark in history, and they aren't quite done with doing such.
Fun little fact: Final fantasy was suppose to be called fighting fantasy, but due to square soft(now square enix) running bankrupt, fighting fantasy was their last game and so to emphasis this they called it final fantasy instead instead of fighting fantasy. With the success of Final fantasy square enix was now saved from going under and the game franchise is the reason they are standing here today.
[Late comment] except that it's not true because the real reason it was renamed was because another game called Fighting Fantasy already existed, so instead they chose Final Fantasy. In truth, they would've chosen anything with F in it just because they want the name to be shortened as FF
When I was in High School, my sibling introduced me to a video game for our Super Nintendo. We rented a video game called “Final Fantasy II”. Although my sibling monopolized it, I found myself intrigued by it as well. I remember the moment in which I decided I wanted to play it too: in the story, a dark knight named Cecil undergoes a quest to become something more than he is, and upon reaching the top of Mount Ordeals (fitting, isn’t it?) he gains a new golden sword and transforms from his dark knight appearance into that of a multicolored haired Paladin. He also is thrust into battle against the former visage of himself, (a battle I admit losing a few times because I kept fighting the dark knight and LOSING) and afterwards becomes a changed man, forsaking the darkness he had once embodied and representing the justice he stood for. I thought that was awesome. Sadly, our time with II (now known to us as Final Fantasy IV) was brief, as we could only rent it so many times until it finally fell out of our grasp. But then, to our surprise there was a new Final Fantasy to play: III (now known to us as Final Fantasy VI) also for the SNES. We played it all the time, and a friend of mine from school told me that if I really wanted it, I could buy it from him. I forget how much I paid, but he sold me his copy of FFIII for SNES. Al and I loved that game, and Al would progress through it better than I did, but it became beloved to both of us. We didn’t know what laid ahead. I largely forgot about Final Fantasy until the spring of 2000, when my sibling and I began to live together and he got a PlayStation and a copy of Final Fantasy VII. I remember seeing it and thinking, “I don’t know if I can like this”. The polygonal sprites were a bit off putting after the 16 bit sprites of the predecessors. I stated as much and Al said, “Just try it. You’ll get it.” I shrugged and said I would. Little did I know I was about to begin playing what has been, and continues to be my favorite iteration of the Final Fantasy series. The characters, the story, the villain, all of it made me come back for more. And during that time, I experienced a breakup from a girlfriend that left me feeling lost and alone. And during that time I found refuge in the world of FFVII. I particularly cared for Aeris, and how she fired on Cloud. What happened to her in the game (and if you have never played the original FFVII then I suggest you do so) left me in tears, which was hard because it was immediately followed up by a boss battle, so I was fighting a boss battle while tears flowed from my eyes. Suddenly I played with a renewed sense of purpose: I had to complete the game. I had to gain vengeance for what happened. And I did so, albeit with cheat devices which you cannot use these days. Not too long after, another Final Fantasy game arrived to play, VIII. Now, 8 was different than 7, the characters overall were more realistic, the story much more serious in tone and the stakes were raised, although it didn’t feel as big as the stakes of VII. But the story, which centered around a budding romance between its main character Squall and Rinoa, became compelling, and it made it easier to play through despite the game being so definitely different than its earlier counterpart. Not too long after that, yet another FF game came along in IX. Once again very different from the 2 previous games, the game tried not to take itself so seriously as the last one and tried to reconnect with the fantastical roots of the series as seen before. It was fun, but nowhere near as moving or as interesting as the entries seen before. A new video game system arrived in the PlayStation 2 and alongside it came the next game in the series, X. With new innovations and the long awaited introduction of voice acting to the series, X was both ground breaking and a bit disheartening as the journey you undertook was linear, with no way to deviate from that pattern. But the characters and story once again made it a fun experience to play and complete. With the next game in the series set to be online, with FFXI being that entry, I opted against that, having no desire to enter that world of online gaming. My friend Tim would end up picking up the next mainline series title, XII. Although it looked good, neither the world or characters appealed to me and I didn’t end up playing the game. Then, with the PlayStation 3 forthcoming, I found a reason to want to jump in with a technical demo for the system created around FFVII. The world was abuzz with the possibility of VII being remade for the new system. But when we learned it was only made as a possibility showing for the system, our hopes were dashed... Then new hopes for new entries came with the trailer for a game set in the same meta verse as Final Fantasy XIII: Versus XIII. With a trailer and action that seemed to be like Advent Children in real time play, it seemed like a home run. Next came the first of 3 games for the PlayStation 3, of which I picked up 2 and only finished one: Final Fantasy XIII and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. I finished the first game after hours of slogging and CP farming, but the other game put me in a standstill so I gave up on it. That would be my last great experience with Final Fantasy until 2016, when Final Fantasy XV, which had been originally marketed as Versus XIII, came to be. The story was alright, although seemingly borrowing from films like Stand by Me and stories from within its own meta. But I finished XV in time to begin hype for Kingdom Hearts. That is it’s own story. But before XV came out, suddenly we had major reason to care about Final Fantasy again. Cloud, the main character of Final Fantasy VII was revealed as a DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS, which got people excited and nostalgic for Final Fantasy VII again. But then in 2015, a trailer came out that changed everything. A trailer that showed updated graphics and ended with the characters of Barret Wallace and Cloud Strife walking forward ending with the sentence “The promise has been made” followed by a new version of the classic FFVII logo followed by the word “Remake”. A few years later, more information came to light and this game, which many vaulted to mere vapor ware, suddenly started to seem more real. Then in 2019 we learned that in March 3, 2020, Final Fantasy VII Remake would finally be released, with many trailers showcasing the new combat system and updated graphics. Although in early 2020 we learned that it was pushed back a month to April 10, Remake released on that day officially, although it had been released earlier in some countries due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The game was amazing, pushing all the right buttons and giving us a new yet nostalgic experience for Final Fantasy VII. And this was just the first part of the game, which is set in Midgar. More will come in time. For over 30 years, Square (then Squaresoft and now known as Square Enix) has produced many timeless adventures for people to embark upon. Just as many games and stories have stuck with us, so has this legendary game series and it is my fondest wish that it continues well past my time on this planet. Out of all FF games I have played, *Final Fantasy VIII* will forever be my favorite! Squall is awesome. I love his development, and his relationship with Rinoa. Love how this video uses the theme heard during VIII's credits, too!
yes they used 8's version here, I think the reason why is because in the interview Nobuo Uematsu said the 8's version is the first completed version of the FF Main Theme.
I don't use twitter, so here: My first experience with FF was seeing the intro cinematic for FF8 in stereo surround. That whole game is my "most memorable FINAL FANTASY experience", but it began there. the current composer Soken for 14 is uematsu's apprentice. uematsu is still doing music for final fantasy in many many ways. he has done the opening trailer for the expansions of ffxiv. hes done music for 15., hes done a lot of the music inside 14 as well but most of it was from 1.0 and they just continued to use it in the revival. you cant bring someone back who isnt gone
30 years congrats!!!! i love this series to pieces every single one has something to offer and i love them all (even 13) my favourite by far is still Final Fantasy VIII and will always be i think, with XV and X competing for my 2nd favourite. continue the great work SE your one of the best RPG/JRPG makers, no you ARE the best in my opinion.
As a nearly 40 years old man, I have played FF for nearly 30 years since FF3. Yap, you can say that I grow up with accompany of FF (and also other TV games like DQ). I sincerely hope that SE can keep developing new FF games with the glory of FF, even though FF15 is a little bit screwed up.

i just came back to this, again. this is something very emotional to me, since final fantasy was always a part of my life, from I to XV, including all the spin offs. so much memories that i share with friends, with my mother, with my wife and even with my son. you can't imagine how great it was for me to introduce him into the final fantasy franchise, and he really loves it!
And now the Final Fantasy VII remake is just around the corner with part one almost complete. I hope every game gets remade with time and with as much attention to detail as VII. Yes even Final Fantasy I-VI, even XI and XIV, though VIII and IX have remasters they should also be remade someday. Someday future generations will come to appreciate this great franchise as well.
Thanks for hundreds of hours of fun and excitement throughout the years Square. These are hours I would gladly spend all over again. I got absolute chills seeing Rinoa and Squall embrace.
30 years of saving the world and embarking on epic adventures. Wow. Final Fantasy was what got me in to RPGs and the feeling of the games is something I aspire to capture in any RPGs I run for D&D. That sense of scale, where the whole world is relying on this rag-tag group of heroes to do the impossible. The feeling of overwhelming despair as the final boss takes on their last form, the feeling of triumph as you see it go down. The loss when a beloved character dies, and the excitement when a fan-favorite appears on screen. Just, so many feelings that it's hard to put them all into words. Thank you Square Enix, for a journey that's lasted three decades and I hope continues for a lot longer. May you all ever walk in the light of the crystals.
This brought tears to my eyes.. this franchise is not just a franchise to me it became part of my life since it's been around ever since I was a kid, thank you Squareenix thru the good times and bad times we stand by this beloved series.
Back when I was about 8, I found in a small store in my home country a game for my brand new SNES.... It was used, and it dind't even had the box nor the manual, just the label, a shining sword on a red backgrond with the words: FINAL FANTASY II. I took it home, and couldn't understand anything! but the music and the graphics blew my young mind away, so everyday I sat down, painstakingly translating with a dictionary and whatever book I could find each and every line of dialog, every stat and spell, every piece of equipment, just to understand this monster of a game.... I taught myself english out of the sheer determination of playing it and seeing where the story went, and Cecil's journey became the first time I ever realized games could be this wonderful, awe-inspiring, magical thing. So, Fom Venezuela, Thank you so much for all these years of wonder, and I hope my children one day would find the joy I find every time I play a final fantasy game. Happy birthday. #FF30TH
Final Fantasy is one of my favorite game that I ever played. I'm literary growing-up along with this series. Thank you SquareEnix to give us this game. Will waiting for FFXVI and FFVII: Remake in the future.

I still remember my first time playing a Final Fantasy game; Final Fantasy X back in 2002. I was gifted the game the day it released in Australia and even after all these years, it's stuck by me as my favourite game of all time. Back then I was only eight years old, and beating the game took months. Last year, I purchased the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster for PS4. After many hours, I managed to replace all spheres with the highest stats & max the sphere grid for each character, capture ten of every monster, defeat all monster arena bosses, beat Nemesis, defeat the Dark Aeons and finally Penance, things I never achieved in the original PS2 title all those years ago. It's still my favourite and most cherished 'Platinum Trophy'. Alongside Nyx Ulric, Tidus is tied as my favourite Final Fantasy character of all and I'm forever thankful to have been able to experience his story. The world of Spira, the characters and everything X had to offer, and even Final Fantasy as a whole is a part of who I am still to this day. I started with 2 and played them all when they came out. FF7 - FF8 - FF10 and 4 are my faves. All i need now is an earthbound (mother 2) remake and my life will be complete.
FFVI got me into the final fantasy series. it's one of my favorite and will always be in my heart. the song, characters, villains, opera.. everything is so iconic please SE I need the remake, or at least the movie 😭🙏
I started since FFVI in the early 90s. Never regretted it. But the most captivating part of the games was not just certain dialogues or plot elements, but the music, music, MUSIC!!! From Uematsu until Shinomura now, I am so in love with the music. I so want to play in the orchestra that bass trombone part. All the time. Thank you, SE.

30 years of amazing games that I have had to cram into just 17 years of life. Final Fantasy is my favorite franchise and that will most likely never change. Final Fantasy 15 is my favorite game of all time and I hope that square keeps putting out amazing games.

That's the weird thing about XII because even though the story focuses on Ashe, Vaan is considered the protagonist of the game and its sequel. Then again he was the one that witnessed and fought in all of the events. Its Kind of the same with Tidus he witnessed all of the events and helped Yuna make her decisions. (Tidus is also next to Yuna in the FFX part of the video)
In the beggining of the game Tidus said "Listen to MY story, this may be your last chance." its obviously his story even though i preffer Yuna above everyone else on the entire FF universe :3
Having those FF exlusive spin-offs is the best Nintendo does. There's crystal chronicles, chocobo dungeon, tactics advance and advance 2, theatrhythm, 4 warriors of light and Bravely default and Bravely second
The fact that I watched this video and just got so hype. This series is one of the best in gaming ever. If they never made another game they could still be in the running for number 1. I'm so happy they are so successful and I wish to make a series as captivating as this one some day!
Shocking, but you have so much to discover. They're a wonderful collection of games. Except for the XIII trilogy, they are definitely not worth your money
If you have Steam, there are several Final Fantasy games you can easily get if you're interested. But imo the versions of III, IV, V, and VI they have there are inferior remakes which were ported from Nintendo DS and a few other handheld devices.
BridgyP FFXIII isn't necessarily bad for everyone. Some people enjoy a linear experience, and FFXIII definitely provides a good one. SoulSilvally All of them are good to say the least, but find one that suits your preferred play style (if you're interested). If you prefer linear, FFXIII and FFX both deliver. If you want a classic retro experience, FF, FFII, and FFIII are all where the series was still shaping. If you want story, FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX and FFX are the golden age of FF story-telling. Or if you're into music, FFVII, FFX, FFXIII, FFXV all have brilliant scores. I wouldn't recommend playing them in order though, just single out one that's really interesting to you.
Nicholas Wyatt imo I feel like FFXIII is just a little more linear than FFX so if you're able to endure FFX's linearity, you can pretty much endure FFXIII's linearity.
I've bought these games on PS3 and Steam already, but I would 100% rebuy them in a collection on PS4 if they fixed the graphical issues that plagued XIII-2 and LR. Tbh, I also just want another reason to replay LR, which is my favorite in the Saga.

I remember back in March, when I went to Japan, and at this one store in the Tokyo Skytree Tower, there's this one little corner which sells Square Enix merchandises, and this exact video was playing.. I just basically stop & stood there (alone),. & keep watching until the video ends, and even repeats until three-four times..
strangely (& quite mysteriously),. I just felt sooo much warm feelings, smiling myself, and even honestly almost shed some tears (manly tears),.. it's not just simply because of nostalgia (although yes I'm sure it's a big part too),. but, as a musician & gamer myself,. Final Fantasy series means almost EVERYTHING to me,. the music, the games, the magical/fantasy world & stories.. it's like a safe place/refugee whenever I want to escape from everyday's sh*tty reality/real-life/real-world.. into the beautiful, magical, imaginative, & wondrous, liberating world/universe of Final Fantasy!
words can't express of how much I am deeply thankful & glad for this beautiful game series/title.. thank you very much Square Enix.. it's all what I need in this cold, harsh reality/real-world/real-life.. :')
I started actually going out of my way and collecting games in the series all thanks to Theatrhythm. Yes, I got deep into the series from the music alone.
I only played VI before I bought theatrhythm, then discovered the other. I also began to play Chrono Trigger, NieR and Bravely Default because of the DLC
Guess that's the hidden power that made SE make Theaterythm, to introduce to the world the music headfirst as an incentive to learn more and even play the worlds they came from.

Everyone, we are living at a time when an actual history of gaming is being made. This, Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, etc. etc. are the roots and beginnings and catalysts of recovery after the Atari shock.
They are the living legends that have left their mark in history, and they aren't quite done with doing such.
Fun little fact: Final fantasy was suppose to be called fighting fantasy, but due to square soft(now square enix) running bankrupt, fighting fantasy was their last game and so to emphasis this they called it final fantasy instead instead of fighting fantasy. With the success of Final fantasy square enix was now saved from going under and the game franchise is the reason they are standing here today.

[Late comment] except that it's not true because the real reason it was renamed was because another game called Fighting Fantasy already existed, so instead they chose Final Fantasy. In truth, they would've chosen anything with F in it just because they want the name to be shortened as FF
FFVII, FFVIII, FFX, FFXIII, and FFXV are my favorite ones. Especially XV. Haven't felt this impacted from a game in a long time.

Specifically from 8 and 10 for me personally.
When I was in High School, my sibling introduced me to a video game for our Super Nintendo. We rented a video game called “Final Fantasy II”. Although my sibling monopolized it, I found myself intrigued by it as well. I remember the moment in which I decided I wanted to play it too: in the story, a dark knight named Cecil undergoes a quest to become something more than he is, and upon reaching the top of Mount Ordeals (fitting, isn’t it?) he gains a new golden sword and transforms from his dark knight appearance into that of a multicolored haired Paladin. He also is thrust into battle against the former visage of himself, (a battle I admit losing a few times because I kept fighting the dark knight and LOSING) and afterwards becomes a changed man, forsaking the darkness he had once embodied and representing the justice he stood for.
I thought that was awesome.
Sadly, our time with II (now known to us as Final Fantasy IV) was brief, as we could only rent it so many times until it finally fell out of our grasp. But then, to our surprise there was a new Final Fantasy to play: III (now known to us as Final Fantasy VI) also for the SNES. We played it all the time, and a friend of mine from school told me that if I really wanted it, I could buy it from him. I forget how much I paid, but he sold me his copy of FFIII for SNES. Al and I loved that game, and Al would progress through it better than I did, but it became beloved to both of us.
We didn’t know what laid ahead.
I largely forgot about Final Fantasy until the spring of 2000, when my sibling and I began to live together and he got a PlayStation and a copy of Final Fantasy VII. I remember seeing it and thinking, “I don’t know if I can like this”. The polygonal sprites were a bit off putting after the 16 bit sprites of the predecessors. I stated as much and Al said, “Just try it. You’ll get it.”
I shrugged and said I would. Little did I know I was about to begin playing what has been, and continues to be my favorite iteration of the Final Fantasy series. The characters, the story, the villain, all of it made me come back for more. And during that time, I experienced a breakup from a girlfriend that left me feeling lost and alone. And during that time I found refuge in the world of FFVII. I particularly cared for Aeris, and how she fired on Cloud.
What happened to her in the game (and if you have never played the original FFVII then I suggest you do so) left me in tears, which was hard because it was immediately followed up by a boss battle, so I was fighting a boss battle while tears flowed from my eyes.
Suddenly I played with a renewed sense of purpose: I had to complete the game. I had to gain vengeance for what happened. And I did so, albeit with cheat devices which you cannot use these days.
Not too long after, another Final Fantasy game arrived to play, VIII. Now, 8 was different than 7, the characters overall were more realistic, the story much more serious in tone and the stakes were raised, although it didn’t feel as big as the stakes of VII. But the story, which centered around a budding romance between its main character Squall and Rinoa, became compelling, and it made it easier to play through despite the game being so definitely different than its earlier counterpart.
Not too long after that, yet another FF game came along in IX. Once again very different from the 2 previous games, the game tried not to take itself so seriously as the last one and tried to reconnect with the fantastical roots of the series as seen before. It was fun, but nowhere near as moving or as interesting as the entries seen before.
A new video game system arrived in the PlayStation 2 and alongside it came the next game in the series, X. With new innovations and the long awaited introduction of voice acting to the series, X was both ground breaking and a bit disheartening as the journey you undertook was linear, with no way to deviate from that pattern. But the characters and story once again made it a fun experience to play and complete.
With the next game in the series set to be online, with FFXI being that entry, I opted against that, having no desire to enter that world of online gaming.
My friend Tim would end up picking up the next mainline series title, XII. Although it looked good, neither the world or characters appealed to me and I didn’t end up playing the game.
Then, with the PlayStation 3 forthcoming, I found a reason to want to jump in with a technical demo for the system created around FFVII. The world was abuzz with the possibility of VII being remade for the new system. But when we learned it was only made as a possibility showing for the system, our hopes were dashed...
Then new hopes for new entries came with the trailer for a game set in the same meta verse as Final Fantasy XIII: Versus XIII. With a trailer and action that seemed to be like Advent Children in real time play, it seemed like a home run.
Next came the first of 3 games for the PlayStation 3, of which I picked up 2 and only finished one: Final Fantasy XIII and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. I finished the first game after hours of slogging and CP farming, but the other game put me in a standstill so I gave up on it.
That would be my last great experience with Final Fantasy until 2016, when Final Fantasy XV, which had been originally marketed as Versus XIII, came to be. The story was alright, although seemingly borrowing from films like Stand by Me and stories from within its own meta. But I finished XV in time to begin hype for Kingdom Hearts. That is it’s own story.
But before XV came out, suddenly we had major reason to care about Final Fantasy again. Cloud, the main character of Final Fantasy VII was revealed as a DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS, which got people excited and nostalgic for Final Fantasy VII again.
But then in 2015, a trailer came out that changed everything. A trailer that showed updated graphics and ended with the characters of Barret Wallace and Cloud Strife walking forward ending with the sentence “The promise has been made” followed by a new version of the classic FFVII logo followed by the word “Remake”.
A few years later, more information came to light and this game, which many vaulted to mere vapor ware, suddenly started to seem more real.
Then in 2019 we learned that in March 3, 2020, Final Fantasy VII Remake would finally be released, with many trailers showcasing the new combat system and updated graphics.
Although in early 2020 we learned that it was pushed back a month to April 10, Remake released on that day officially, although it had been released earlier in some countries due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The game was amazing, pushing all the right buttons and giving us a new yet nostalgic experience for Final Fantasy VII. And this was just the first part of the game, which is set in Midgar.
More will come in time.
For over 30 years, Square (then Squaresoft and now known as Square Enix) has produced many timeless adventures for people to embark upon. Just as many games and stories have stuck with us, so has this legendary game series and it is my fondest wish that it continues well past my time on this planet.

yes they used 8's version here, I think the reason why is because in the interview Nobuo Uematsu said the 8's version is the first completed version of the FF Main Theme.

the current composer Soken for 14 is uematsu's apprentice. uematsu is still doing music for final fantasy in many many ways. he has done the opening trailer for the expansions of ffxiv. hes done music for 15., hes done a lot of the music inside 14 as well but most of it was from 1.0 and they just continued to use it in the revival. you cant bring someone back who isnt gone

30 years congrats!!!! i love this series to pieces every single one has something to offer and i love them all (even 13) my favourite by far is still Final Fantasy VIII and will always be i think, with XV and X competing for my 2nd favourite. continue the great work SE your one of the best RPG/JRPG makers, no you ARE the best in my opinion.
As a nearly 40 years old man, I have played FF for nearly 30 years since FF3. Yap, you can say that I grow up with accompany of FF (and also other TV games like DQ). I sincerely hope that SE can keep developing new FF games with the glory of FF, even though FF15 is a little bit screwed up.

i just came back to this, again. this is something very emotional to me, since final fantasy was always a part of my life, from I to XV, including all the spin offs. so much memories that i share with friends, with my mother, with my wife and even with my son. you can't imagine how great it was for me to introduce him into the final fantasy franchise, and he really loves it!

And now the Final Fantasy VII remake is just around the corner with part one almost complete. I hope every game gets remade with time and with as much attention to detail as VII. Yes even Final Fantasy I-VI, even XI and XIV, though VIII and IX have remasters they should also be remade someday. Someday future generations will come to appreciate this great franchise as well.

Final Fantasy was what got me in to RPGs and the feeling of the games is something I aspire to capture in any RPGs I run for D&D. That sense of scale, where the whole world is relying on this rag-tag group of heroes to do the impossible.
The feeling of overwhelming despair as the final boss takes on their last form, the feeling of triumph as you see it go down. The loss when a beloved character dies, and the excitement when a fan-favorite appears on screen.
Just, so many feelings that it's hard to put them all into words. Thank you Square Enix, for a journey that's lasted three decades and I hope continues for a lot longer.

Back when I was about 8, I found in a small store in my home country a game for my brand new SNES.... It was used, and it dind't even had the box nor the manual, just the label, a shining sword on a red backgrond with the words: FINAL FANTASY II. I took it home, and couldn't understand anything! but the music and the graphics blew my young mind away, so everyday I sat down, painstakingly translating with a dictionary and whatever book I could find each and every line of dialog, every stat and spell, every piece of equipment, just to understand this monster of a game.... I taught myself english out of the sheer determination of playing it and seeing where the story went, and Cecil's journey became the first time I ever realized games could be this wonderful, awe-inspiring, magical thing. So, Fom Venezuela, Thank you so much for all these years of wonder, and I hope my children one day would find the joy I find every time I play a final fantasy game. Happy birthday. #FF30TH

total feels. would rush home from school in 1997 to play FF7 then on to 8 and 9. Those were a golden age in gaming for me.
I Love you please never stop making Final Fantasies. even the bad ones are good.
I still remember my first time playing a Final Fantasy game; Final Fantasy X back in 2002. I was gifted the game the day it released in Australia and even after all these years, it's stuck by me as my favourite game of all time. Back then I was only eight years old, and beating the game took months.
Last year, I purchased the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster for PS4. After many hours, I managed to replace all spheres with the highest stats & max the sphere grid for each character, capture ten of every monster, defeat all monster arena bosses, beat Nemesis, defeat the Dark Aeons and finally Penance, things I never achieved in the original PS2 title all those years ago. It's still my favourite and most cherished 'Platinum Trophy'.
Alongside Nyx Ulric, Tidus is tied as my favourite Final Fantasy character of all and I'm forever thankful to have been able to experience his story. The world of Spira, the characters and everything X had to offer, and even Final Fantasy as a whole is a part of who I am still to this day.
Thank-you Square, for everything, and I'm excited to see what the future has to offer. "You'll keep the future of this world safe. I believe in you."

I started since FFVI in the early 90s. Never regretted it. But the most captivating part of the games was not just certain dialogues or plot elements, but the music, music, MUSIC!!! From Uematsu until Shinomura now, I am so in love with the music. I so want to play in the orchestra that bass trombone part. All the time. Thank you, SE.

30 years of amazing games that I have had to cram into just 17 years of life. Final Fantasy is my favorite franchise and that will most likely never change. Final Fantasy 15 is my favorite game of all time and I hope that square keeps putting out amazing games.

Yuna's story, but she is not the main character, I agree on the XII one though.
That's the weird thing about XII because even though the story focuses
on Ashe, Vaan is considered the protagonist of the game and its sequel.
Then again he was the one that witnessed and fought in all of the

Its Kind of the same with Tidus he witnessed all of the events and helped Yuna make her decisions. (Tidus is also next to Yuna in the FFX part of the video)

The fact that I watched this video and just got so hype. This series is one of the best in gaming ever. If they never made another game they could still be in the running for number 1. I'm so happy they are so successful and I wish to make a series as captivating as this one some day!

Except for the XIII trilogy, they are definitely not worth your money
If you have Steam, there are several Final Fantasy games you can easily get if you're interested. But imo the versions of III, IV, V, and VI they have there are inferior remakes which were ported from Nintendo DS and a few other handheld devices.
BridgyP FFXIII isn't necessarily bad for everyone. Some people enjoy a linear experience, and FFXIII definitely provides a good one.
SoulSilvally All of them are good to say the least, but find one that suits your preferred play style (if you're interested). If you prefer linear, FFXIII and FFX both deliver. If you want a classic retro experience, FF, FFII, and FFIII are all where the series was still shaping. If you want story, FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX and FFX are the golden age of FF story-telling. Or if you're into music, FFVII, FFX, FFXIII, FFXV all have brilliant scores. I wouldn't recommend playing them in order though, just single out one that's really interesting to you.
Nicholas Wyatt imo I feel like FFXIII is just a little more linear than FFX so if you're able to endure FFX's linearity, you can pretty much endure FFXIII's linearity.

I've bought these games on PS3 and Steam already, but I would 100% rebuy them in a collection on PS4 if they fixed the graphical issues that plagued XIII-2 and LR.
Tbh, I also just want another reason to replay LR, which is my favorite in the Saga.

Congrats on a great 30 years! I have been a fan of the series since FF1 on the NES. Final Fantasy is my favorite series of all entertainment mediums. Looking forward to many more years. Thank you all so much for the memories.
