absolutely mind-blowing how these companies blatantly disregard human life by knowingly choosing to create death traps for children and adults and all for greed and ego....twenty years ago when trains were shorter you were not allowed to block certain crossings for a fraction of the time that these super long trains are blocking them now....there is no way to make that make sense
However long or short it is the train should be moving. The only time it should stop in a crossing is briefly to switch directions or if it got into an accident.
I cant officially call myself a "railfan" but I can say that the railroad owners are PATHETIC when it comes to their abuse. The blocked crossings has been out of control for years on end and now they are pushing trains to their LIMIT due to the extended long couplings of trains to the point where they are pushing their limits of their design. So much so, that trains derail and dump their dangerous cargo. They also have a driver shortage that THEY caused themselves, in their hiring policies.
Well said. Don't forget to thank the US Supreme Court that abolished states regulation of RR and ruled in favor of profits over safety, workers, or kids.
I think they should only allow each train to have two engines and absolutely no more than 4. If there is enough load that the trains need more engines then it needs to be a different train not one absurdly long unit of like 6 locomotives.
This is a darn good piece of journalism. This mainly impacts poor and Midwest kids and families. Send this report to the U.S. Supreme Court. The fab 9 struck down no blocking laws in the 37 States that had them. Just wow. The judicial branch need to be reigned in there are no checks on these nasty judges.

You cant shorten a fright train. That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Cut the crossings is a good idea, but trying to shorten freight trains is just plain dumb.
This is called precision railroad trains are longer with fewer locomotives engineers and conductor’s. The railroad are making money hand over fist. A locomotive engineer once told me that they’re moving trains as long as 13,000ft.

The proposed overpass will do nothing to alleviate the pedestrian issues. The children will still have to travel an additional two miles to go around the trains by using the overpass. My thing is I understand the blocked crossings are annoying…. But you knew the tracks were there when you moved there……or you knew you lived by a rail yard. Also the Precision Scheduled Railroading adds to it….longer trains more engines, cars. No room in the yard . It’s not that they don’t care ……it’s the employees being told what to do 🤷🏾♂️. If a train is blocking a crossing for a period of time……it’s not purposely……trains go into emergency braking due to numerous reasons which requires conductors to have to walk the train to find the problem or a crew change…..no room in the yard or other factors
People shouldn’t move to homes near level crossings because trains might stop on them for several hours or days? Don’t be ridiculous. The fact that trains can sever towns for such long periods is outrageous.
@@nkt1So don't move to a house that's close to the tracks. It's not the engineer's fault, they're just doing what they're hired to do. Advocate for walkways over crossings or tracks. @@colbylawson5331 And what about all the people who already live there, or can’t afford anywhere else? Can motorists park their cars for hours on end on level crossings? Of course not. So why are these trains allowed to do it?
@@nkt1 Because trains don't work like motor vehicles do. It's so simple to understand. They're trains, not trucks or cars. Have your community build a walkway over the tracks, it's not up to the railroad to make sure your kids get to school. That's up to the people who live in places where trains are.
Couldn't putting in more train yards be able to allow trains move through cities and not have to stop? Granted 2 track sets beside each other is essentially a passing lane and could see that causing trains to be blocking intersections still. But over all if more or bigger yards were built, that'd allow trains to sit and wait. Regardless if it were just for railroad crew swaps, or getting permission to move through on other tracks, or whatever. Or build high traffic roads over the tracks, or move the tracks over the roads so responders can get through. Crosswalks going over helps. They are ideas, how feasible they are to accomplish is the real question. Plus cost, to ensure ultimate safety and properly built it will take a lot of money. Spread out responder stations to more areas of cities as well. Not sure. I hope solutions are found for the various cities and they layouts as to how this situation can be solved.
It doesn't work that way. Trains run on schedules, otherwise that'd be the first thing they'd try. That would just waste more time than if a walkway was built over the crossing.
They need to wait. Tracks are for trains, not idiots. It is better to be late often than dead. Walk to the next crossing down the tracks or walk up to the next. The dumb 10 minute rule is absolutely garbage. Slow moving trains can carry the most cargo and without that cargo, people die due to lack of food, medical supplies and their precious IPhones that people can’t live without 10 minutes for. People can wait, trains can’t.
The railroads own Congress. Blocking the recent strike and forcing the railroad workers back proved that.
Sounds like a simple pedestrian bridge over the railroad near the street that the school is on would be wise.
