    I bought this exact knife in black. It comes in today. I wanted a flat grind knife to compliment my Mora Garberg which has a Scandinavian grind.

    I'm very tempted to get this one. The price is very reasonable, and 440C is not a bad steel. It isn't the latest greatest, and it gets dissed nowadays, but it was a premium steel for many years before all the powdered metals started hitting the market. It looks thin and slicey, so for me a good camp knife for food prep, LIGHT kindling splitting., cutting paracord or bank line, etc.On another note..I'm your 400th sub!!! Woo hooo!

      I really like this knife and l don’t have any problem with 440, I think it is a fine steel. This is definitely a slicey knife! And thank you for 400!! 🎉🎉✌️🇺🇸

    I got the ODENWOLF SOW CATCHER....paid $50 with free shipping with a discount code. Knife came screaming sharp. I cut myself badly. It's the best knife value around currently. I like it better than many other knives I have that are around $100.

    May have found my next bargain knife. Looking for a fixed-blade to carry when out walking the dogs. FWIW, my Spyderco Paramilitary 2 also has really sharp jimping.

      You're right!
      I've spent a £few hundred on knives. Some really expensive, but I've now gone back to three of the really cheap knives - A small hollow grind and a full flat grind both made by Whitby Knife Co (UK) and a Linder Guide with a 5.5" blade. All three together cost no more than £60

    • @ScreamingReel500
      @ScreamingReel500 ปีที่แล้ว

      My SpyderCo Pacific Salt 2 has micro jimping too, not sharp-maybe my thunb still strong, which is different from big knife because you don't put a lot of force behind it. Jimping is overrated. My SpiderCo Endura doesn't have jimping and it is fine compare to the one with jimping. I grind some jimping off my knives with a sanding wheel attached to the drill and fasten to a table with wood clamps, except the Pacific Salt 2.

    If the heat treat is good on that 440 that'd make a damned good knife. I admit I wouldn't buy an mtech or elk ridge. There's too many choices out there to buy instead of those 2. But that's my opinion.

    • @marshfootoutdoors
      @marshfootoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I don’t disagree with you at all. The Odenwolf is a great little package for the price, I think it can have a place in anyone’s collection. I just like to review some of these really cheap knives because some folks honestly can not afford $100 or more on a knife, but I like to showcase some budget beaters from the $20-$40 range that the weekend warrior or occasional user can have on their side and get the job done for them. Plus I really just like knives, so it’s fun for me to review these types of blades.

    “Budget” excellence? “Common” man?
    It is so difficult to find high end custom knives among the plethora of budget and common knives.

    • @marshfootoutdoors
      @marshfootoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I dunno. The high end custom stuff is certainly out there, but they are definitely at a price that is tough for the average bear to afford. And yes there is no shortage of budget blades out there, but some of them are quite good for the price.

    • @ulbushcrafting6592
      @ulbushcrafting6592 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marshfootoutdoors I meant it is difficult to find those custom or high end knives on TH-cam.

    • @marshfootoutdoors
      @marshfootoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay I’m trackin. Yeah that’s probably because unless companies are sending you those knives or you are rich, it would not be sustainable for someone like myself to be able to review high end custom stuff, I’d be broke and divorced in a month, lol. You prob already know but Preparedmind 101 does higher end reviews and I also like Zack In The Wild. I did review a TOPS knife a few weeks back.

    • @ulbushcrafting6592
      @ulbushcrafting6592 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marshfootoutdoors or somebody who has money , not married, and is a Bushcrafter like me starts doing videos, lol. I’m familiar with Tanner, he was doing large knife reviews before I liked large knives. Have not heard of Zack in The Wild. I will check him out tho. But what miffs me is the few high end reviews that are out there, get tons of burger flippers who have to comment on how they would never spend “that much” ( however that much is ) on a knife. That is why I push back with an opposite pro view for higher end knives. Tops has their niche for sure. I like the different designs they come up with. But they do stick to one dominant steel , as many do, and they are mostly thick, 1/4” and above. It makes for a heavy tool and heavy isn’t my bag baby, lol. The “UL” in my name stands for Ultralight. I did buy/collect Tops by the dozen. But have given them all away pretty much. Even tho their steel isn’t the “greatest” they do have a great heat treat resulting in good performers. Thanks for the posts and the banter sir!
