Great interviewer and great storyteller. This might be one of the better podcasts that YMH has put out. That story with Greg and his dad was very intense and I'm sure relatable for a lot of people.
This is the scariest podcast to listen to when you’re a 35 year old who drinks a little too much and has a family history with heart disease 😳 Makes me want to change my habits for the better to be honest.. great show guys!
yea i had to do the lifestyle change 2 years ago. im 30 and my family all have high blood pressure and my gpa has congestive heart failure so yea. i vape that's about it and that's pushin it haha ✌take care much love from st louis MO
Yeah I just turned 36, I took a break from drinking a couple of years ago. Now I have a few beers here and there but damn quitting smoking had been the hardest part for me, I still am smoking, which I know I shouldn't , my dad died of a stoke stoke and his parents. My grandfather on my mom's side died of heart failure. The older I get the more this shit makes me think I need to quit at some point or I'll end up like my dad dying at 57. That rattled me for sure.
@@phl_knives The smoking is a damn demon brother. My grandpa had a heart attack and double bypass in his late 50s from it, quit cold turkey and is still kicking strong at nearly 80. Dad had a heart attack around the same age and he checked himself out of the hospital early to go smoke, 5 years later he can't stop and his heart and arteries are falling apart, precancers in his lungs. Grandpa on other side died of heart attack at 46. I switched to vaping for a year then quit that cold turkey and it feels like I've clawed my life back. Bupropion stopped the cravings like a light switch, though it made me pissy for a few weeks. Good luck man, never give up! Don't let those tobacco executive animals win!
I'm from Pittsburgh - it's hard to look at that Ravens hoodie but you do got a crazy-badass quarterback that was fun to watch last year (when you weren't playing the Steelers).
Love Greg Fitzsimmons! But you should wait until the end to promote upcoming shows, give guests a chance to warm up the crowd before you announce ticket dates.
I go to emdr because im so fucked up, but i wanna make something clear. It only works if you want it to, if you are like me where your subconscious just completely desensitizes and blocks any trauma, you need to get other help first, otherwise it cant do its job because you are mentally blocking the treatment if that makes sense. Just putting it out there for anyone wanting to try it, it really does work.
I've known Fitzsimmons for a f****** long time with a stand-up but I saw him on Tommy buns and this too and this is gold prime beef content I'm laughing my goddamn balls off this dude so f****** funny
This is a hilarious episode but covered some important stuff Glad to hear them talk about therapy, it definitely helps a lot of people, including myself. It' was a lifesaver for me seeing a female trauma specialist therapist. I had done 3 years with her working through shit, now it's been 2 years since I've got my life back.. I've heard EMDR works wonders for PTSD, Prolonged Exposure therapy is tremendous. It is rough but it helps. Personally I would take a quality female therapist, just my preference as a guy, I feel like I can be more open about things with with a women.
yo sickcell this podcast is something else man. the guts to go so casually and fun at the low-lights is fucking inspiring man ! my mum passed last week and no kidding man i shed a few tears and moped a day but just listening to the stories you and your guests tell every week i fucking grabed that shit by the balls, took it as what it is and fucking supported the shit out of my family. the amount of insight u get on how to deal with certain shit is crazy. and i dont mean i take my situiation and paint it as yours nononono way hóse, but i sincerely feel like The Dew presents u all these horrific situations as well as very diffrent approches to handle them (a.k.a. crazy-comic syndrom) so that u really take something with you from every episode not at all guiding or anything but real subtle key-thoughts and (i just make this up:) "Mental-Health-Rules" , even if u dotn realise it. hearing stories by people who been through terriffic shit, what fucked them up, what helped them, and looking for each initiative instict or feeling that led them to it .... having THAT : made me get my family together get everyone to talk, clear shit or just REALLY be there. i was always the guy .... fucking leave the room and leave me alone and i know i would have done the same shit this time regarding my mum because my brothers kinda did that :s so long story short : Sickler no kidding u really made an impression on my life that i will not forget.
