Its not that hard to be honest (in my opinion), the majority is basically hammer-ons and pull-offs, a tapping part that isn't all that hard if you actually try to practice that part, and the rest of the song is pretty easy.
I would say it's not a difficult song all thing considered, it's just incredibly easy to screw up and, in terms the note/song structure, therefore makes it sound terrible when you actually mess up, making you think you're worse than you are. I would say though, this song is a great way to initiate you into what it feels to play shred guitar.
Thanks Nyarlah for the kind words though your version sounds better to me :). Hardly any mistakes in yours where I have a few decent flubs in mine. Just goes to show that % accuracy in the game isn't everything!
I'm learning this now and I got to the tapping part and looked up how to transfer from notes to the tapping part. Looks like I'm gonna have to slow it down :( this song is soo much fun to play though. I've got 100% up to the tapping. Had to get a new string for the high E lol...
I managed to get it yesterday, but it was an overbend. I find if you bend properly it doesnt register, but get it a little over (and sometimes even under) it will register.
Yeah, it didn't take me very long to get over 90%, and the only prior practice was Guitar Hero and a few months of lessons, and if I could do it I know you can for sure :P
currently I can't even pass 40% but it's by far one of the best songs there (to me personally). And today I hear that they're going to bring guitar hero back to life. I can't help but wonder WHY... Why would anyone want that plastic piece of crap when you can have this majestic creature?
Yuro Lohe There's nothing wrong with Guitar Hero or similar rhythm games. At this point in time it would be more fun for me to play Yngwie Malmsteen songs decently on Rock Band than to fail miserably on this on Rocksmith. Many guitarists seem to think that guitar and Guitar Hero are somehow comparable. They're not even close to the same thing and they're played for very different reasons. Yet oddly it's always the guitarists who seem to think that rhythm game players are the ones who think they're comparable when we're under no illusions, we know that Guitar Hero doesn't make us musicians or good at music/guitar or cool in the slightest. Guitar Hero is also motivational. I didn't really pay that much attention to guitar until I played Guitar Hero. I wouldn't have been motivated to learn to play guitar if I didn't play rhythm games and as a result pay more attention to music.
Yuro Lohe I had tha same like Magniloquent. I started to play guitar because of rythm games. Even at start i could keep my rythm constantly with no problems and i knew that i won't get bored because it's a game :D Games aren't boring :)
+Yuro Lohe I used to play a lot of Guitar Hero before actual guitar, and it actually got me farther on real guitar than my friends who also picked up rocksmith. Also, it's way easier to play songs like Through the Fire and Flames on Guitar Hero than it is on actual guitar. You'l spend well over a decade trying to play that song if you're just starting out, then it isn't really worth it at that point.
Thanks 6fingers :) And lets be honest... That note at 1:27 was terrible, lol! I somehow find a way to add a few of these major flubs in most of my videos. Oh well, I'll keep trying though!
*jaw drops This is really amazing, especially to a total and complete newb like me. I literally just started Rocksmith about 2 hours ago... Before that, I tried to dabble a bit on guitar, but never got past a few chords and some easy strumming songs. How long did it take you to get to this level? Any tips for when it gets really frustrating?
If it gets frustrating, take a break then come back. Trust me, playing while getting annoyed at it will make you play worse, which will make you more frustrated, play worse ect. I'd recommend using the riff repeater on songs you really want to learn, start slow, add more notes. This song used to scare the shit out of me, I've been taking music seriously for less than year and I can play this with a few errors. You can do it dude, but you have to want it. ;D
Hello, Nick! I think you're an amazing guitarist, an inspiration I'd say. I'm 14 and I've been playing for about 1.5 years for now. Any tips on how to start learning solos and that kind of crap? Keep on rocking, bro! :)
Thanks Darkian! As for soloing, it will take time to build up the speed and muscle memory so stay patient with it. I would recommend finding a solo that you really want to learn and is a bit above your current skill level. Take it into Riff Repeater and play it with all of the notes but at a speed where you can learn to play it cleanly as well as memorize it. Once you have it down at that speed, slowly speed it up 1% or 2% until you can play it cleanly at that speed. Rinse and repeat:) Also, make sure to do some practice outside of the songs (Session Mode is awesome!) and learn some scales. Play them ascending, descending, in different positions around the neck, as quarter notes and triplet notes, etc. Make sure to change it up as well. 15 minutes a day for a few weeks, months, and/or years will go a long way into your ability to solo! Thanks for watching!
Nick Smith Which pick do you use for standard tuning Nick? I just ordered a V-pick, apparently they really aid you in catching those upstrokes quickly when alternate picking fast scales etc. Unfortunately my tortex .88mm likes to snag my strings a little on some of the scales on this song, so Im having to put extra forearm work in there to get it up to speed.
+Darkian1314 practice alone without rocksmith with a metronome. Play a simple arpeggio slow then faster. This will build accuracy between your picking and fretting hand.
That's pretty tough too, but I thing the solos are more doable for an intermediate player and not a more experienced one. The hardest parts are the ones with chords in my opinion.
***** I find that the chords aren't as hard as the parts that aren't synchronised with the rest of the song. The beginning is a perfect example of this. You can learn the chords, but to play something that isn't synced with the rest is quite a different challenge
David Mardakhayev There are a few tricky parts that will test ones alternate picking capabilities though, sure you can mince about with loads of hammerons and probably get the game to register them, but it just doesnt sound right without picking in appropriate places such as the main riff and the ascending scale after it.
Thanks Jack! Good question though... Iron Maiden would be cool but I haven't decided for sure yet. Still a lot of disc content to chew through first. Thanks for watching!
How did you get this song? Yep, I know: Uplay. And when I'm connected to Uplay I can't do anything! I used every button on my gamepad. The only one that works is Y - to exit Uplay. Any advise? BTW: I'm using XBox 360.
Eliza Delgado Your comment is really old but meaby i will answer for someone else. You can't learn how to play fast solos etc. from rocksmith. This game is to learn the basics but you have to work alone with songs like this one (unless you are really good guitarist already).
InadimentStick I'll be the troll for this comment. I'm going to assume that this cat has put at least 10 years into his guitar skills. I'm also going to assume that he's hit 100% at least a handful of times before he felt it was deemed legitimate for youtube viewing. I'm also going to assume that the man had other things to do - rather than go through a 5 minute song again and again just so he could shave off .7% on a stretch of notes. You see the views? 6,299.. no wait. 6,300 now. 0 dislikes. So.. instead of harping on a guy for missing 1 or 2 notes. Let's see you post something anywhere near this, Or better yet; Run off and collect ALL of the Pokemon. I'm sure you are missing a few. Fanboy.
im just staring at this with a blank and confused face.
dummies24 watch my channel for the beginning of the song

This song is so fun to play
agreed
Yes if your a sweaty god with jazz hands
I can do everything but that main lick in the beggining
This is probably the funnest song to play in the entire game
I feel like learning this now.
have you learrned it yet? :)
Well done on the accuracy and first place Nick :p
Thanks Nyarlah for the kind words though your version sounds better to me :). Hardly any mistakes in yours where I have a few decent flubs in mine. Just goes to show that % accuracy in the game isn't everything!
damn props to this dude not misses most people miss a coupel notes or something but not not note missed and its a extreme solo
The only reason I can't get a 95% or higher is because of that dam tapping. Real good job man.
literally same. i can whip through everything else except that damn finger tapping
This almost seems inhuman wtf perfect in all.... Except on a few notes where the string went flat but good lord that was nice
Justin Castillo I would agree if i hadn't see Jeff Loomis. That's inhuman.
Justin Castillo whatcha my channel for the beginning of the song
You might like halsb's channel then. He only gets 100% in each video.
I'm only at like 40% on this song, but damn it's easily my favorite song in RS!
I'm learning this now and I got to the tapping part and looked up how to transfer from notes to the tapping part. Looks like I'm gonna have to slow it down :( this song is soo much fun to play though. I've got 100% up to the tapping. Had to get a new string for the high E lol...
I will be unlocking this tonight for sure. lol songs sick.
4:18 I understand how you may feel, missing that G string 2b4 note. No matter how perfectly you hit it, you will 99% of the time, miss it.
I managed to get it yesterday, but it was an overbend. I find if you bend properly it doesnt register, but get it a little over (and sometimes even under) it will register.
Keep on rockin' dude !!!
And still only 2 million points; we need to go deeper.
Damn you are good at this! Still struggling with paint it black lol.. Someday..
You'll get there Daniel, stick with it man! Practice, practice, practice!
Thanks!

How many percent today bro?
Awesome!,, At about 1:27 I think your G string might have gone a bit flat but It still sounded great. Doubt anyone is gonna beat 2.1 million.
Thanks 6fingers :) And lets be honest... That note at 1:27 was terrible, lol! I somehow find a way to add a few of these major flubs in most of my videos. Oh well, I'll keep trying though!

*jaw drops

+Francesca Cascio Everyone has own tempo but I could play that after ~7 months.
Yea, but I've gotten so good that when I play a song, it is ALWAYS on 100% percent, even if I haven't played that song before.
epic accuarcy

that was pretty good, better than i can play it no doubt. But i think the G string was flat
That was sic. I need to know my way around the fretboard before I can come close to that. How did you unlock that song?
you get it by going into Uplay
This is the new Through the Fire and Flames. Really fucking hard, but you're glad you tried.
You want hard? Try Aching Head by Self Destruct, the last unlockable song in the game.
That's pretty tough too, but I thing the solos are more doable for an intermediate player and not a more experienced one. The hardest parts are the ones with chords in my opinion.

This song is actually quite easy. Mostly a bunch of hammerons

This is badass hehe hopefully someday I can do this x3 btw, what kind of guitar do you use?
Good game, man!
How is your score now?! Think I beat it! 2.210.572
I'm goin' for 100% now...or at least try to!
KEEP ON ROCKIN'!
So, did you ever get 100 lol I find it hard enough to get the game to register an FC on blitzkreig bop let alone this song!
amazing job Nick what dlc song are you planing to do first.
Some Iron Maiden perhaps? :D would love that!
Thanks Jack! Good question though... Iron Maiden would be cool but I haven't decided for sure yet. Still a lot of disc content to chew through first. Thanks for watching!
Reminds me of Rayman Legends.
How did you get this song? Yep, I know: Uplay. And when I'm connected to Uplay I can't do anything! I used every button on my gamepad. The only one that works is Y - to exit Uplay. Any advise? BTW: I'm using XBox 360.
How do I unlock this?
you unlock it by log in to uplay
this actually isn't that hard of a song, just keep practicing it and stick with it and you all who are having trouble should get it eventually!
Seb Fl I agree.. the fingering comes very natural on the fretboard
Its a really easy warmup song that helps thats why i like this song tbh
holy sheep :'O
did u learn how to play guitar with rocksmith??
Eliza Delgado Your comment is really old but meaby i will answer for someone else. You can't learn how to play fast solos etc. from rocksmith. This game is to learn the basics but you have to work alone with songs like this one (unless you are really good guitarist already).
Learned to play fast af from rocksmith, just put in the hours man
Sounds like an Indiana Jones theme honestly.
Aaawesome!
Wow
How many playthroughs/hours did it take for ypu to even attempt this the first time?
beaut
Thanks cjee246! Looking forward to some more epic videos from you soon. Keep it up bro!
kirk wants his solos back..oh and his phone 3:36
I think if you get 100% in this song, you play all rocksmith songs easily
why didnt you try for 100%?
haha sorry, i should have said amazing job first, but i would have played day and night until i got that 0.7%
InadimentStick I'll be the troll for this comment.

Logan Moriarty I was as a matter of fact. Thank you for pointing that out for me. I'll edit if I can.
No problem. I do, however, hope that this guy gets more popular, he has a ton of talent and I feel he deserves over 6,000 likes!
the guitar is not in tune
