Yeah as I mentioned in the video , they will be completely different games , and like you a lot of people visiting then channel are here for the pure simulation and not a chilled out arcade experience that you get on TDTAD , this is where ART will probably win out !
But as always , what a time to be a simulation gamer on console , it's never been better for choice !
Well, I did give it a few hours to see what I'd let myself in for and here's my 'brand new player' thoughts.
Story mode: Horrible. 31 chapters for 1000g ain't going to happen.
Freeroam: A little shallow but the map is well utilised. Short haul missions are a waste of time though.
Visuals: I found them over-saturated and a little blurry. Saturation can be partly toned down but distance blurring cannot.
Handling: Felt a litgle spongy on a controller so wheel support will (hopefully) be a godsend.
Likes: Map. It lacks scenery variety but it's a good size.
Likes: Weather effects.
Dislikes: In-cab satnav is too small, doesn't rotate and suffers with lighting issues.
Dislikes: Day/night cycle is way too short and the weather changes too frequently.
Is it worth £33? I'm going to lean towards "yes" - but only just. Story mode is a 100% nono for me and I'm unsure exactly how long freeroam will stay interesting....especially when you consider that there are zero achievements attached to this mode as well as it having a somewhat weak progression system. Freeroam should have been the primary game mode, with the story an optional extra.
One final note: When you enter the garage be VERY AWARE of the "press A for manual gears" option. If you don't notice it and inadvertently switch gears then trust me, you absolutely will be left scratching your head as to why you cannot get your truck out of neutral after leaving the garage.
Hope this helps anyone still on the fence about making a purchase.

Just a quick heads up, Lee. I stumbled across the fact that Logitech G920 wheel functionality was partly included in the last update, but a word of warning before everyone rushes out to connect their devices....a combination of (1) the fixed cab camera, (2) that horrible '3d glasses effect' filter on in-cab details, (3) the weird fishbowl effect when looking out of the windows and (4) the general over-saturated look of all visuals really does take it's toll on the eyes. I had to quit driving after about 20 mins🫤
I know there are external cameras available - but they're just a bunch of chase views....some of which completely obscure the front of the truck (when a certain trailer is attached) and none of which that are particularly suited to a wheel.
Yeah they accidently left the ability to connect a wheel on the Xbox build as that is the system they have been testing on !
Definitely going to get this when the wheel support launches.

I would be interested in this game if it had wheel support with real force feedback (not just centre spring like most sims on consoles lately). For now I keep my eye on Alaskan Road Truckers....
I can't tell if it will or won't have FFB at the moment , all I know that wheel support is being worked on as we type !
I could not get this video out of my head since I watched it the other day... Mostly because this is another one of those games I bought and played once then uninstalled. Hearing you say they updated it so heavily I started asking what else have they done.. I found out today they did a lot to include adding steering wheel support as of today. Even got an official post about it on facebook!! I will be reinstalling tomorrow and looking forward to giving it another chance!
Excellent stuff, it's not a bad little driving game ,.the story is cheesy as hell , but the freedom to roam is brilliant ! Let me know how you find it !

I did give it a try two days ago on my PS 5. BUT did not really play as I was not able to put a destination mark on rhe map and that is a major bug at least for me.

Loved the idea of a trucking game with a story mode attached to it, but the excessive price since launch has kept me away. Found a copy for $29 last week and am looking forward to finally giving the game a try.
The price you paid is a good price , it has just had a permanent price drop to 32.99 here in the UK , so you got a bargain !

Look..i have put allot of time into this game.. sure it's had problem but the devs have worked really hard on it to correct the problems. It's a beautiful game and is with the price tag. I myself have contacted them several times to report issues and they have addressed them. It's still got small bugs but in no way are they game breaking. Ppl need to understand nothing is 100% prefect. The game is good and I'm really emoting it. Just a couple more bugs fixed and it will be great. And by the way.. the ppl that say it looks bad, literally need glasses lol the game is beautiful. No regrets on my purchase at all.

No new news on TDTAD I'm afraid , I have no idea on what they are working on next for the game ? I had heard that the team who created the game are helping to fix the original TD

Love the game, but honestly with bugs etc, i'd find it really hard to buy it. ETS had massive issues with ai, but massively improved since. This game for me needs to "mature" a little then perhaps considering buying it
Definitely pal , I totally agree , it's far from a finished product and as you mentioned , the AI is really bad at the moment , but with the way the game has progressed over the last 8 months I have every confidence the AI will be fixed

Hi I enjoyed your videos on things game , simulator.. So I just purchased for my PS5. This game. I have more problems with this game than any of my others. Very bad Ai. Crazy. And game has locked up my new PS5 3 times in 5 hours of play…. So bad I asked Sony for a refund. No go on that. Can you talk to the developer about the problems with this game. I think you talk to them. I have been a gamer for over 40 years. And I also was a bata tester for games. Anyway you could help talking to them would be appreciated very much 🎉. If you play on Xbox it currently has a work in progress wheel support , but it is coming to both Xbox and PS fully soon

It's not a bad game as to the story mode but I think truck and logistics better as it has multiplayer
More improvements are coming to make it even better !

It's a story yes x 2 , and it has a free roam mode too where you can earn money and xp etc... to earn new trucks etc...
So no Pc version of this in the future ?

As I said in the video , this is not simulation , this is a chilled out arcade driving experience , OTR like Alaskan will be , is pure simulation , a lot more to think about with a simulation game !
For me there is room for both and all theses types of games .
It's never been better for choice , so it all depends on what you are after in a trucking game I suppose !

While the graphics are nice now with unreal 5, the AI are way too frustrating making the game practically unplayable.
Completely agreed with you mate , I've not touched it since I finished my play through on the channel , just to painful with the AI .
A new update is closed though so fingers crossed the AI is part of that update
@@CGDGAMES yea I have been sending them clips. Painful to play but never going to get better if they don't have examples since they told me on Discord I shouldn't be having issues and send clips if I do.

You can upgrade all the trucks in free roam ,.you just have to unlock to the options to do so 🤦♂️

Don't expect simulation , expect a nice chilled out driving experience, that's fun to play although let down a little by the poor AI
American truck simulator is still the best trucking sim to date

this looks great- amazing detail in the graphics...I love Fernbus also, what a bus simulator...they really put in effort on that sim. I might buy this, as I'm getting to like these types of games. Somehow they are really addictive.
One total mess and a pure rip off...is On the Road...they should call it "nothing but road" what is that garbage?...nothing but road and the same trees over and over, and repetitive radio music... the towns look like Mario brothers from 1988. Do the same delivery thing, look at boring nothing scenery. The truck handling is a criminal offense... what a rip off...THATS the tragedy in sims, NOT this good looking game.
Hang fire on purchasing American dream just yet , the AI is not great , in fact it makes the game painful to play , and update is due any moment , so keep an eye on the channel for news on that 👍
@@CGDGAMES you're right...I bought it yesterday...wow, its still a buggy mess....it crashes when I change graphics settings, and crashes in general randomly on PS5....thanks for your advice...the developers sure aren't a professional triple A team. It's been out a while and still not nearly finished. IT's ok, we can tinker with it and see improvement along the way. Its still in beta, and they charge full retail...not right. It's not a 1. something yet, still version 0.996 or something. What is with the map, it's horrible - the indicator arrow is tiny, I wish they'd make it easier to read for older eyes!!

It has currently had a significant price drop , pricing for ART is currently unavailable, but I would think it will be in the £30 - £40 mark , which is the same area that truckdriver the American Dream is currently

As a current Truck driver I can say, if the AI is trash at intersections and just in general than this game performs wonderfully compared to real life because people are morons 🤣
