  • Hi everyone!
    In this video we talk about how to recognize a bad boss. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out if our bosses really suck or if it’s the norm in every dental office. To avoid loosing our minds at work we(DAs) have to be comfortable with our team and feel respected. Based on our many years of experience in the field we decided to point out the main red flags we wished we knew especially when we were starting out. Again, these are our own thoughts and opinions but may not be everyone's story. So if you have a story to share or other tips please leave us a comment below! :)

    I work for 2 dentist. 1 is super sweet and helpful , she use to be a dental assistant. The 2nd is so mean she’s literally put her hands on me and ask a million questions at once and not listen to any answers I give.

    Also a dr that is a blamer, I worked for a dr that used to blame his DAs for everything for even his mistakes.

    Thank you so much for this video. There’s so much of it going on and on and so many times assistants pretend that there’s nothing happening. We need to stand up for ourselves 💪🏻💪🏻

      Thanks for the love!! Yes, we need more assistants to know they CAN Stand up for themselves and they SHOULD! We do such amazing work and we have to stop working for drs/office that doesn’t appreciate us

      Temps can be challenging. The key to master it is to detect what you’re doing wrong and tweak it. And the rest is just practice practice. Did you watch this video? th-cam.com/video/u9mklBSv2Es/w-d-xo.html

    LOL I’ve had stuff thrown at me but it wasn’t from a doctor it was actually from an assistant.. 😅😅 I really never told anyone about it.. She already made my life miserable along with her clique. I’m glad I came across this video now so for the next office I work in I look out for some red flags.

    Gabriella Simoes Long story short I thought it was a great interview and I was ready to come in and meet the doctor and everything like that and then the office manager asked me if I had any questions which I said I pretty much have one question how does the Dennis treat their assistant because I’m very big on respect and I don’t put up with disrespectful people I let them know and I don’t wanna be wasting anybody’s time and she says no that’s a great question he’s kind of like this blah blah blah but I will let you know about the job when just five minutes earlier she was super excited to have me come in and start working

    I'm a new DA who just graduated and started to work in an office and the doctors have no patience with me and keep asking me during the procedure and confusing me I feel down to the point I started to feel that not my career 😢 sometimes he asked me in front of the patient and embarrassed me. How can I be professional and at the same time not silent?

    • @DentalVibes
      @DentalVibes  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So sorry you’re going through this! You should meet with the dr and express your concerns. If they agreed to hire a new DA they knew there would be lots of training. If nothing changes after your meeting then you should look for a new office. Good luck!

    My internship manager is so rude she told me from the beginning I don't care about your hours this is career that really hurt me

    • @DentalVibes
      @DentalVibes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s rude! But, externship is different than if you’re an employee. Unfortunately, they don’t owe you anything. You’re not an employee. They are doing you a favor for letting you be there. If you still need a lot of hours left try finding another office to complete it. A good office will make you feel welcomed and make sure you learn what you need to learn. Good luck!

      @@lisbetojedasosa7651
      Well you are your own boss its independent contractor work, you get on with a temp assistant agency and they contract you out to dental offices that need help for the day or multiple days. And most of the time you get paid end of day depending on how a temp agency is set up. Some places the temp agency pays you and will take out taxes for you and some agencies the dr. Pays end of day and you take out your own estimated taxes depending on your state. I am full time temp assistant it offers me flexibility in which days I choose to work, but I typically base it off of the demand of the temp agency I know most offices that are private practice will usually only be opened mon through Thursday so thats what o usually work. I hope this helps. Good luck 👍

    I keep being told to not work for female dentists because they can be catty. That came from 2 RDA's with over 10 year experience. I have a working interview in 2 days and that office is all female dentists. What would u suggest?

    Avoid DSO's, all of them. I have been doing this 15 years. After 12 years in a great practice the dentist sold and retired, the field is nothing like the older gen had. Overbooked schedules, no lunches, no benifits, no paird holiday, staying late. The pay is not worth the stress and disrespect. Find another field, do yourself that favour and respect yourself.
