Great video, thanks for sharing. I'm building a channel that give up and coming divers practical information to what the industry is like and will definitely add your video to my Offshore Dive Jobs - What to Expect playlist.
No, usually when you say stop, it stops straight away.. but the diver supervisor was pressing the wrong radio control, and the deck didn't hear him.. That shouldn't happen normally
There is no comms delay normally but the supervisor fucked up. I have to say that many Indian supervisors are very poor with communications, indirect and very loose 😣
Great job Dude I am a CD for more then 10 Years in Switzerland, i see many young man who want become a Cd but 90% say after the first Projekt , man CD's are crazy and leaves. When there realized that kind of a job is too hard for them. 🤣

Generally I hear this accent only on my telephone at night or lunchtime. Good to see they do also something else... a little more exiting and less invasive to others... Good Dive!!
Peter, awesome video! As usual, I have several quick technical questions lol. I couldn’t quite understand, but was the depth of the basket 22.5 meters? I'm guessing they keep the basket a certain distance from the rig for safety purposes (you mentioned that it was miles away if I understood it correctly and I could see that if your umbilical cord got caught up in the rig it could easily turn into a serious situation). It looks like it would be extremely difficult to swim while pulling the umbilical cord. When you got to the rig, do they neutralize the buoyancy somehow, or do you just have to hang on when you get there? (when they did the wide angle shot it looked like you were having to hang on). Looking at the time stamp, you were in the water for about an hour if I read it correctly. Was the riser pipe a structural element or was it to carry oil or gas? And the last one, did you have to make a decompression stop on the way to the surface on this dive? Sorry for all the questions, but that was cool to watch!
The basket is taken down to a certain depth, for where you're working, but also the excursion length of the umbilical so it doesn't hit the ships thrusters! So the guy controlling the basket on deck didn't hear the radio and kept going down... it also means I am deeper, so I have less bottom time to work! the ship was far off from the platform, so it was a 16 meter swim for me to reach the platform... you get about half way and want to die, lol. That's why I started going down at the end, too tired to swim stronger.. You just hang on when you get there, you can use magnets and rope to hold yourself, but I just use my legs like a clamp. - yes, good spot! the dive was basically a full hour... the riser clamp basically supports the new pipeline it's holding, down to the seabed.. just stops it from bending / moving. holds it steady. Then when it reaches the seabed it bends in a J Shape and carries on along the sea floor! Which is the video clip you saw before on my home video, impacting the bolts up on the flange.. yeah this one was in the chamber, so it's straight out of the water... no deco in water, but then you have 7 minutes to get inside the chamber breathing o2, and in there for half an hour!
Im interested in doing this, I saw you mentioning the pay wasn’t great but here in America it pays a lot, any other tips or things to know before i start
@@Kaidjnsksbskdjsbw the most I've worked is 6 months in one year, so yes - if you find a steady rotation with one company that's your best option, you'll typically work 2 months on, 1 month off. Otherwise you could be months without a job
Sometimes, yes, other times it's spoken to you in the control room before your dive, and you know exactly what needs to be done... so you just get on with it.
Very rare that anyone dies... if the ship looses position from satellite and moves away from the platform suddenly, it can rip your umbilical and sever your connection. If you're working under the crane lowering anything heavy and the crane for whatever reason bounces with the wire and the load drops, then you should be well away from the object in a safe space. A diver died a few years ago when a concrete mattress attached to the crane lifted up and came back down crushing him. Another diver I believe he was Egyptian died when walking through a burst oil pipeline and the pressure of the flow blew his helmet off his head and killed him.
Is it in Dubai Petroleum buddy ??? I worked in the same location, you might see some dude hanging on the rope and doing the Inspection on the Platform, that was me and my mates ........
It's to maintain control of the umbilical, without it being connected / guided like that.. it would be free floating in the sea from me all the way back to the ship.. the tide would drag the umbilical anywhere it wants to and becomes a danger for me and the ship.. for example, floating towards the thrusters under the ship.. it would also be very difficult to hold my position if the whole umbilical is being pulled around freely by the waves. The umbilical is measured and hooked at a certain maximum length.. As to not cause problems under the ship with thrusters etc. Without it being done in this way it would be lethal.
I know next to nothing on these matters but wasn't it a bit concerning that the guy controlling the basket wasn't in the loop for a moment or two ? 20 meters of sea water is 2ATM pressure I think - you were down for an hour , what are the risks of DCS ? Fascinating area of work - the whole business . Oh , and is this a Diving Support Vessel with a DPS ? Sorry about all the questions - I know some of the lingo after watching a docu on sat diving !
I think the supervisor accidentally used the wrong radio to talk to the deck crew who were controlling the basket.. and so they didn't hear him, until he realised too late. No risk to my health, it just means they work out the times / decompression differently.
37 - Not that huge.. they will not fly you out from America, it's too far, if you're in the UAU then sure it should be fine. I worked on that ship for two years, and never once met an American diver.. It's mostly South Africans, Philippineo, Indians and UK
It's not me, the dive supervisor watches the gauge and tells people on deck by radio to stop the basket.. He pressed the wrong radio, so nobody heard him.
Bush Camping Tools Dive plan should be shared with the dive leader, at normal practise the basket wire will be marked every 5 meter or so. Unless this is the first dive, which is obvious it wasn’t as the clamp was half pre installed. Somehow good practise diving and keep safe mate!

There is almost no welding work subsea, it's rare to do welding in commercial diving. Either become a coded welder, and do surface welding if you're talented at it. Or become a commercial diver, but the diving work is incredibly competitive, and the industry is dying. If you want to progressive in diving you need 3:1u and 3:2u Inspection courses, and it would help for training in Wind Farms. The standby diver does not have to be on bottom with you. They might just be topside on a different bell. Your bailout should last you enough time for them to get in and get to you of anything happens

wheres the standbye diver? wheres the standbye divers predive checks? what sort of amatuer operation is this?
The standby diver does not have to be on bottom with you. They might just be topside on a different bell. Your bailout should last you enough time for them to get in and get to you of anything happens
@@lolimthenoob buddy iv been doing this job for a long time. i know where and how far away the standbye should be. you have NO standbye. where the fuck is he? getting lunch? in the mess? he should have done his predive checks before the diver and be dressed in sitting next to the LARS with his hat on his fucking knee being fanned and feed grapes by another diver.
What are you talking about fella? The Standby diver is on his Standby chair directly behind the stage, dressed in, ready to go, checks already completed before I sat down on the bench, chill out...
@@peterisjustaname didn't see him. So many problems here I just assumed the rest of the shit show was on
Was your supervisor an Indian?
Yes on that particular dive, but there's mixed nationalities
you just reported your bail out pressure as 190 Bar and the supervisor acknowledged but when he started the video he said it was 200Bar. indians huh? no thanks.
This is Offshore Dubai, so yeah.. It's not the North Sea here
You would think that this job pays a lot…
You would be wrong
Indeed, which is pretty crazy. For sure very unique job.
Did you get out of diving altogether?
@@mxaexm yeah I retired 3 years ago
man don't put music again !! the original sound is the best !
Nar, I like the music and it's my video
@@peterisjustaname sure, it's your choice, bye :)
ALL STOP ON THE BASKET FUCKING STOP THE BASKET
Іще трохи і опустили б на дно Маріанської западини.
blew past the dive depth by 5 meters?!! couldnt communcate between dive control and stage operator. parked you 50 meters away from the jacket. this is only the first 5 minutes. what a bunch of muppets.
I think the dive supervisor was pressing the wrong radio control.. he's got two in there, one goes to me, one goes to the deck, and I could hear him talking to me.. so he was pressing the wrong one, so the people on deck never heard him. Hence.. went past the mark. Now and then people make mistakes on a 12 hour shift after two months being there, even the supervisors. The ship was as close as it could get topside
Trust me,
The music ain't needed !
just mute the video
