I don't anymore. I would get the tremors and extreme hunger when I used to drink though. I found myself eating anything sweet to settle it down. I was also pre-diabetic.
yes had really bad reactive hypoclocemia all my life finally worked out what it is. Trying keto now only been 2 weeks and struggling to get into ketosis. Did carnivore for a few months but did not completely cure it due to gluconeogenis so switching to higher fat ratio and ketovoir style. Wish these vids had been around years ago! Thank you
A friend of mine and myself were hangingout a while back. We stopped st Dunkin Donuts and she started showing symptoms like sweating, ordered like $15 worth of food and eventually collapsed in the place. Luckily he go back on his feet and I bought him a Gatorade This is scary when nobody expects it
*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*
My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article th-cam.com/users/postUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.
I'm Non-diabetic Hypoglycemic. I Notice I Only get shakiness and weakness when i've been eating carbs and sugar. but if i eat Meats, cheeses, eggs and fat, I Don't.
This entire time I’ve been blaming all of these symptoms on anxiety 😭 Noticed that when I drank a single half glass of wine I woke up shaking, thirsty, weak, throbbing headache, dizzy, like almost unresponsive and ready to faint. This was also happening with some foods and I couldn’t tell which ones triggered it so I stopped eating for like 3 weeks because I was so scared of feeling like that. Got blood work done in the middle of having all of these symptoms and my glucose was 57 mg/dL. Definitely will leave it to my doctor to diagnose me but I’m happy I saw this and have a better idea of what could be going on. Thanks for the information!!
Well I thought I was anxious as well, and when I was starting to feel dizzy and I was not able to concentrate the people were blaming me that I act like a child and I have to deal with my emotions. 4 years later I found out that is hypoglycemia. I feel the same after drinking, I was taking anxiety pills I did not know what is happening.
Oh my god same. I can drink one cider and then I will have unbelievable shakes and trembles to the point I can not walk or talk. My teeth start chattering and my fingers turn blue. It is so scary
I'm hypoglycemic. I was dx with reactive hypoglycemia a few years ago after passing out on a subway train. I took a 5-hour glucose tolerance test and received my diagnosis. I still deal with some of those reactive hypoglycemia symptoms, including hunger, shakiness, and sleepiness after I eat certain foods, but it's gotten better now that I'm in the know. Knowledge is wealth.
This makes so much sense. I would feel symptoms, sometimes pretty severely like being close to passing out if I didn't put food in my mouth immediately, but when I did a fasting blood test, the results came out normal.
When it was happening to me I ate a piece of orange and the orange helped, this feeling is Scary🙏 I thought I was fixing to Faint I almost fell unconscious because of this 💔
This comment section is like having family members I didn’t know I had, and meeting them for the first time… I’ve struggled with this since I was a little girl.
Girl this comment section is saving me! Because I had never felt so alone in my life. I got tired of trying to explain what was going on in my body to the people in my life because they were looking at me like a deer stuck in headlights.
Same, been on this roller coaster no one understands since i was a teen. Not to much help given by medical providers. Im an adult now, will start educating myself and not depend on others to fix my body. Eating meat, eggs and fats is what reduces my symptoms tremendously. These are things i have noted through the years. Seeing others validate these findings is great.
Where is the "OMG TY TY" button! My wife has been living with this for 15 years with bad advice from doctors. I've recently been diagnosed with Type 2, and we started a Keto lifestyle. It's so good to finally get some proper explanation!
Same. I'm positive I have non diabetic hypoglycemia but no one believes me. I've asked for further testing but they won't because they do basic testing when I'm NOT having symptoms. It's so frustrating!! I've had it since I was young but some of the symptoms I have I was told by different therapists they are due to anxiety
So true. I did keto for 3 years and I'm so glad I did, but it's not perfect for everyone, and I struggled with it myself. While I lost weight and cured some inflammation issues, I also had periods with symptoms of hypoglycemia or ketoacidosis. I was skipping breakfast everyday, but that just wasn't sustainable. The frustrating part is, all the big influencers always say the solution is MORE KETO, and yet that will put me into a spell of vertigo that will have me literally on my ass. Still waiting for the community to catch up and start speaking to the people like us, the outliers. I believe in low carb, but it's tough to manage it. Always looking for ways to improve the diet. Oh, another thing, I really don't digest fat well and that's an obvious problem.
I use to be able to go hours and hours in-between means now I can barely go 2 with out getting shaky so hearing there could be a a way to fix that made me so happy a bit teary-eyed honestly
Same here.I would never eat in the morning.I would grab a coffee and go straight to lunch around 2pm.Inknow have to eat right after I wake up.Rice pudding helps me a lot in the morning and usually I can go for hours just with one
I had hypoglycemia and was not aware. Then I started taking Berberine and ended up going into severe hypoglycemic shock. I stopped taking it, but less than 2 weeks later, I had another hypoglycemic episode (this one less severe). Mine was caused by an unhealthy low caloric deficit. I started eating more calories (not carbs so much- still under 20 a day for keto) and monitoring my blood glucose with a meter over two weeks. Days I was at or below my deficit amount, I had hypoglycemic blood glucose numbers 1/3 of the day. On days I ate more calories (still deficit but 10% instead of 35%) my blood sugar was low-normal and I felt better. I had blood work done at the dr and my a1c level was 3.6 from all the hypoglycemic days and episodes. She also found that my LDL was high, and my wbc, vitamin d, and ALC were severely low. Long story short, I am suffering from malnutrition. I cut my calories so much that my keto diet is unbalanced. Little fat, mostly fiber, and a bit of protein. I was eating low cal low carb keto snack foods to stay in and under my deficit. I cant belive I did this to myself. Im fixing my diet and buying more meat, fruit, and veggies and throwing out the keto snack food. Im done. Im also annoyed that my dr was so concerned with my LDL (209, very high) even though she said its from the unbalanced diet and genetic predisposition- told me no red meat or fat.... im not listening, but im not going overboard either. I had 0 red meat since 10 months ago when I started my deficit. I cut out so much fat, that I dont know how my LDL is so high. Im going to stop counting calories, and eat a balanced keto diet THEN have all the blood work redone in a few months.
I've had hypoglycemia since going into 7th grade (I'm 59 now). I didn't even know what it was, until my early 20's, when my then mother-in-law told me about it. If there was information available back then, I didn't know about it. I've learned over the years what triggers it for me, but sometimes I still get it wrong. This video was so incredibly helpful! Thank you for taking the time and effort to put this together! Your explanations were easy to understand, yet full of information. You're a blessing! Thank you again, from a new subscriber! 😊
Wow. I feel like this video just saved my life. Not literally but I woke up out of my sleep with symptoms after eating sweets and drinking soda before bed. I’m not diabetic, I know what caused it. From this day forward, I will live healthy and overcome my lifetime of obesity.🥺 Thank you! 10/04/2021 4:28am
Find out what your A1C numbers are. There is a range from non-diabetic, to pre-diabetic, to full blown diabetic. Knowing your numbers is very helpful to lowering them.
I have been battling with hypoglycemic attacks for 2 decades. I have talked to my primary DR about them. He truly understands my meticulous nature and said I would find an answer for them before him. I love to chart food in take, calorie count, time of day. I have never looked at the relationship of carbs v. protein/fat in my diet. I definitely thinks that it is worth looking. I will concentrate on my carbs v fat/protein more closely. Thanks.
Thank you so much for finally being able to explain to people why I get so angry when I’m hungry, and why I begin to feel so terrible up until I eat…then it’s a crash so bad all I want to do is lay down for an hour. This information just changed my whole life outlook!
Thank you for this article..I’m 71 yrs old and have been struggling with these symptoms for yrs..even had heart surgery in 2021, that only fixed half my problem..now I’m going to start tonite on my diet..thx for the info, I’ll let you know how things are going..
Wow thank you. I’ve brought my hypoglycemia up to multiple doctors who never told me as much info as you just did. This is so great thank you thank you
My sugar randomly crashed yesterday. It was so bad I almost passed out. Heart started racing too. I bought an icecream and woke back up. And no I don't have diabetes
Felt it today, sudden hunger that I was rushing to reach something to eat, fast heart rate, shaky, and the feeling of passing out. I immediately drunk milk just to have something to put in my mouth. I did not eat very well in the past few days, because of the GERD. I was scared of eating anything. This morning, I just ate a little cereal and that's eat. Nothing for lunch. Around 2:30PM I started feeling funky. When I drunk milk, I felt a little better. I boiled eggs and ate some bread and drunk apple juice, now I am feeling a lot better. I will have to get my snacks ready from now on.
Thanks so much for this video. I started getting so tired I couldn't stay awake very weak dizzy. I started checking my blood sugar 2 hrs after every meal and my readings where 90 and I felt horrible. It's such a scary feeling 😫
1st time I've actually had my condition explained to me. I always wondered why this would happen to me after eating a large meal. Extreme weakness, excessive cold sweat, shaking, extreme hunger.
I suffer from reactive hypoglycemia. Its definitely a nightmare to live with. Its been a challenge lowering the amount of carbs I eat a day, but your videos are very helpful!
I have this and I nearly collapsed while out with a friend a couple years ago. I took a fasting A1C glucose test at the doctors and my blood sugar was in the normal range. I have to take snacks with me everywhere I go in case I get a low.
Hi Haley! Do you only feel this way after meals? Or before? My symptoms come before meals. I too tested negative for diabetes. This only started last year. Desperate for some light on this. Thx in advance!
I wake up and within 20-30 minutes of waking up I feel weak, shaky and need to eat. I’ve felt dizzy and can’t concentrate too. If I eat something I may feel better but not always. I only get it after waking up. I may have non-reactive hypoglycemia. Have you heard of someone having if in the morning right after waking? How can I do intermittent fasting if I feel weak in the morning and don’t eat?
I had gastric bypass surgery 4 years ago and ever since ive been dealing with this. I had no idea my symptoms was a result of hypoglycemia. I went to the ER several times and was diagnosed with anything from high blood pressure to anxiety but never had blood sugar checked. I recently bought a blood glucose monitor and am logging my readings for my doctor. Thank you for the info because my doctor doesn't even want to talk about it since I have never had these issues in my life. I feel like the bypass was the root cause of this. The way I eat changed drastically and im having a hard time dealing with the consequence of my decision for weight loss surgery. Keep it in mind if anyone plans on undergoing the same.
I inherited Reactive Hypoglycemia from my mom. I have passed out, and nearly passed out, from this and few times. and it is extremely uncomfortable otherwise. I think you're on the right track here. Thank you!!!
Apparently I must have reactive hypoglycemia because I started the Keto diet 3 weeks ago and that's when it all started. I never realized how many carbs I was consuming until I started Keto. I had been programmed not to eat fat and my diet was very deficient in healthy fats. My body has been very reactive since I lowered my carb intake until I feel as though I'm going to pass out. The headaches and irritability have been so bad that all I can do is lay on the couch when I'm normally a very productive person. I have an appointment with my PCP this month to confirm it. Thank you for this video, it answered a lot of questions and I now understand what's going on with my body.
I’ve had a very similar experience when trying keto. It was very scary and it lead me to eating carbs again, and I realized that I relied so much on snacking and eating carbs that I have never felt those symptoms before. Have you still continued with the keto diet and has your symptoms improved?
@@kayleeloomer I'm no longer on the keto diet, I realized it wasn't for me. However, I have cut back on the carbs and snack maybe once a day. I do consume more healthier fats like walnuts, dark chocolate almonds and almond butter. I do 16/8 intermittent fasting daily.
I can't find any info or what to do for hypoglycemia when your unable to eat or eat too little. Yes, eating is a problem for many people for many different reasons but no one addresses how not eating leads to chronic low glucose and insulin, any info is always connected to diabetes, medications and carbohydrates. The more my levels lower, the nausea prevents me from eating. What should we be eating to raise these 2 levels quickly without eating a lot of food.
I am suffering from reactive hypoglycemia since I got pregnant. I used to have insulin resistance and was following a keto diet, the doctors put me on Metformin and when I started the second trimester on my pregnancy I started to suffer all of these symptoms you described. I did a test and I was diagnosed with Gestational diabetes. Then I started using a CGM and discovered that my sugar all night and after 2 hours of eating was dropping to 45-50. I was feeling terrible. I went in for monitoring in a hospital and the doctors gave me a glucose injection, it was horrible, my heart was racing, my sugar spiked in 5 min... Now the only solution they gave me is to eat every 2 hours and be sure to add carbs. I do eat my carbs last as I read a book called Glucose revolution in which I got the tip. I am trapped in the vicious cycle you explained, eating from 6 am to 10 pm, last meals I'm not even hungry (I used to fast 16 hours, I was eating twice a day) but I do it for my baby, I force the meal into my body, it has been working as my sugar now is stable 70-120, haven't had any crashes lately but I really hope I could go back to eating how I liked and what I liked after the baby is born. I have read that ketones are not good for the baby so I'm not following any keto diet at the moment, but I'd appreciate if I could get more information on how to address the root cause for hypoglycemia during pregnancy. Thank you for the video, very informative
It's been a while that I was searching for symptoms I was having, such as dizziness, sudden hunger, headaches, and no videos had them presented clearly mentioning the cause and the prevention of them. Here Kait explains them with a comprehensible and simple ways, and even insists on the ways of prevention and treatment. Now I know how to behave. Thank you Kait.
I’ve had bariatric surgery 20 years ago. Recently diagnosed with AFib. Hypoglycemia has been happening more frequently. Went to endocrinologist today for hypothyroidism. Adjusting meds for that. He gave me a monitor for checking blood sugar to get it documented before moving on to treatment. Very frustrating. I’m 66.
Right now during the Lenten season where I am supposed to fast or abstain from certain foods. I have to simply stay away from other things that are not food. The church is okay with it.
My hypoglycemia/ insulin resistance was causing my mouth and eyes to get really dry and hurt. At one point my lips were even burning. Thankfully a wonderful doctor recommended the keto diet and intermittent fasting. I no longer suffer with these symptoms unless I cheat.
God Bless you! I’ve been trying to figure out how to describe the yucky feeling I have been getting a couple hrs after eating especially after dinner. I don’t know how this video popped up but I’m glad it did. All the comments as well are so helpful. This explains why I feel much better once I have high protein intake along with my veggies. I’ve tried to just do veggies but I get the shakes and NEED a little dairy, juice, something to get out of the funk. I will be adding more protein to my veggies in addition to checking out your other videos to gain more knowledge.
What happens, do you just come back round after passing out? Do you take something sugary? Do you feel breathless with it? I get really breathless and feel faint then try to drink sugary milkshakes and eat and after maybe 30 minutes it's a bit more normal. It is really scary though. I don't know if it's diabetes.
Nicole cake - you should really talk to your doctor. Have you spoken with an endocrinologist - can your doctor refer you to one? If you are passing out you can have a seizure, go in to a coma. Get this checked out by a medical doctor. And best wishes on your health
My glucose level averaged at 3.0 mmol/L. And so the doc put me on a six meal a day diet, and that was that. No other help at all. So, my brain began to shut down bit by bit. One of the first signs was that my pupils now took up to 2 hours to respond to a change in light intensity. Then later on, auto eye focus was no longer auto eye focus. I had to control it manually. After 8 years of this not receiving any effective help from my GP, nor the specialist I was sent to, I was well on my way to becoming a complete vegetable. I now could not even recognize all words as words, but had to read them letter by letter. My short term memory, on and off throughout the day, would shut down completely. I could not even spell my brothers name anymore. And the list of problems goes on and on. After the cause was found, it still took another 8 years for me to relearn things, although I never did relearn how to write, other than write my signature. And guess who found the cause. Yet, it was me, despite my condition. The doctors were 100% hopeless, if not outright evil.
Very helpful, Kait, I just had a GTT done and it came out "normal". I've made an appointment with my doctor - but, knowing how little MD's know about digestion is scary. We'll see how it goes. Thanks to you I now think I have 'reactive' hypoglycemia and I have new guidelines to follow.
No 7. Sweating (Waking up in the middle of the night sweating). Worst symptom is when everything turns blue in the centre of your vision but you can still see the parts around the central blue areas. Solution, eat something quickly or use a glucose kit. No need to even test, my sugar levels are lower than 3.4 at that stage.
I get an episode when I eat poorly. Yesterday I got one because I ate small meal and I had to work phisically. When I eat good healthy meal with meat and veggies I don't have any problems.Thats just my case.☺️
I started having these symptoms went to the doctor he told me i was depressed and had anxiety. Put me on 4 different drugs that caused me to be a walking zombie and lose 50lbs. As i got sicker and sicker and continued to still have problems i realized my doctor was a quack drug pusher. After researching i realized hypoglycemia was actually the problem as i refuse to ever go to a doctor again people like you have taught me how to manage it naturally. I still have problems on occasions but for the most part im back to being healthy. Doctors are nothing but legal drug pushers now days😢
I think I have this because of my bad drinking habbits for years... I work hard as a cleaner. I eat a full meal 8 in the morning.. then breakfast 9 , then 2 energy bars 12 and then a full lunch ( warm meal ) at 14:00 and warm meal at 18:00 again. If i don't do this I'm in problems
I'm currently trying to catch my symptoms, whether it's hyper or hypo... This morning, I eat bread then 10mins later half an orange. By time I was going on the other half, it hit me! Headrush like I was going to pass out! My systolic went from 120's to 142 within seconds! The symptoms left me weak, unbalanced and just sort of zombie-like until the next day. This has happened at random times. It's so hard to catch... I keep trying to look for other symptoms but it's so random. Dr keep saying it's just Anxiety, because by the time I go get checked, my sugar and blood levels are normal! It's extremely frustrating!
Are you already eating low carb diet? I'm on keto and I've noticed that eating a carb heavy meal knocks me out (I literally almost passed out last time). It's definitely not hyp(er)glycemia as the symptoms you describe are classic low blood sugar. I think what's happening is that being on low carb makes you insulin sensitive, when you eat a high carb meal it drives your insulin response too hard and you end up with reactive hypoglycaemia.
I was delighted when you talked about fasting. I fast purely for spiritual purposes but I’m glad to know that it also has the added benefit of preventing hypoglycemia (although I will experience it in the short term during the fast). The spiritual side to fasting is absolutely incredible and has been sorely ignored in the modern world of self-indulgence in my personal opinion. Have I understood correctly? I am also hypoglycemic. I dip Copenhagen and have cut back considerably and do not indulge during my fast as I feel this profanes it if that makes sense. I am also an ectomorph but I recently put on 25 lbs due to a medication I take for schizophrenia. All of this combined makes for a pretty stressful life, but I’m thankful that it has caused me to depend on the Lord. Stress may not be that bad after all. Those who have had lives the easiest might never reach dependence upon the Lord while those who have faced many stressors may develop dependence on the Lord from having it a little harder and turn to the Lord and the Holy Spirit for help.
Okay guys hear me out please. I work in a tire warehouse unloading containers of tires. Its as hard as it sounds. For me, it was basically the gym. I’ve been in it for 2 years, and lost 30 pounds. Since its intense physical activity, i do not eat in the morning before leaving and leave for about 6 hours and come back and eat a lot. So basically i’ve been eating once a day (a lot of food) for the past year and a half, but i was fine. Two days ago i was at the store when i got incredibly dizzy, i started taking deep breaths, but that had never happened before so i got scared and my heart started beating super fast and felt super light headed. This is just starting but why? (Forgot to include I’ve been having sleep paralysis more frequently too)
I’m 90% positive I have hypoglycemia and I’m a vegetarian so I’m nervous that I’m going to be in this constant cycle. Do you think plant based proteins would help?
God bless you, this has been the most informative video I’ve seen so far! I’ve been trying to do keto for a bit over 2 months now and even after cutting carbs, adding fats and protein I still struggle to even make it 3 HOURS between eating 😢. And even after the first hour I can’t think clearly and am in a bad mood. For some reason it’s actually gotten worse the last couple of weeks! I can go 12 hours by not eating after dinner, but that’s because I’m sleeping. So, if I could sleep all day I’d be good 😉. I need to learn how to feel good while reaching my goal of going longer without food. The type of food doesn’t seem to make much of a difference these days (although maybe it would be even worse with carbs...hard to imagine right now because it’s really bad without a lot of them).
Try magnesium I started taking it and I don't get the headaches I use to and my anxiety is completely gone. Also check to see if your deficient in other vitamins.
Is this hypoglycemia? I don’t know why but personally for me, when I don’t eat sugar I start to get hungry/nauseous, and my head starts to hurt, and i can’t concentrate until I eat sugar. Then suddenly feel better.
I keep passing out and getting blurry, shaky or just losing my vision. I eat so much though it’s a bit insane. I’m exhausted, dizzy, lightheaded etc. My doctor found out I have Hypoglycemia and I even described how I thought it was low blood sugar and I could feel the drop(s). It was on my blood tests or something. I’m not sure what type I fall under. I have to eat every few hours and even with doing this I’ll still get symptoms.
I have had intense episodes triggered by alchohol consumption when low carb dieting. Collapsed on bathroom floor, can't pick my head up, feel like I'm going to die type episodes...I've lost consciousness before. It usually passes in about 20-30 minutes, but its extremely frightening, and the most horrific indescribable feeling inside my body. I've never been able to find out much about why this happens to me. I've never really heard anyone else experience this series of events. Low Carb Diet -->Evening of moderate (3-5 drinks) drinking ----->Hypoglycemic event. I've never had this occur when eating a "normal" diet.
The alcohol is raising your blood sugar too much. Your body reacts by making a lot of insulin to compensate for the high sugar. That amount of insulin then is too much and you get hypoglycemia and the other symptoms. Try going with a lot less alcohol and sugars. That should help you.
For me is other way round , when I don’t eat I feel light hearted , shaky and heart tremors . ( Heart is fine checked with Cardiologist) . Recently in Spain and they always eat with ted wine . I have noticed after wine my sump Roms get away. I am not alcoholic but wondering why is that .
At age 16 I was diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia after a 6 hour glucose tolerance test (only lasted 3 hours). I am now 48. Believe me, i have tried everything. Had high protine snacks 6 times a day. Cut out sugar...basically I had a digestion problem. My problems started back when i was 11 and needed antibiotics for strep throat. I developed candida, leaky gut, IBS. My gallbladder was removed when i was 25 just after having my second child ( I have now 5). I now struggle eating animal products and animal fat. I have been able to fast and thus discovered which foods my body is having a problem with as i reintroduced them. Anyone out there with similar experiences? Would love to exchange stories.
Been keto 2 years. Fasted a long time today after having been super strict with carbs 10 or less. My glucose usually runs 90-98. When it dipped below 90 I was shaking, headache, no focus and nauseous. What’s up with that! Diabetes runs in my family. Turned 50 this year. Ideas?
Pre-keto I had horrible reactive hypoglycemia, diet soda made me pass out, would wake up shaking like crazy and struggled to concentrate and stay awake daily, just learning that I may have adrenal issues and that may have been the true cause as even then I was very low carb...
Great video! I actually how you did the sponsor section as well and will check it out. I IF daily 18-20 hrs and do low carbs. I was curious and checked out your video because I tend to always have low blood sugar levels. This week after dinner I was at 71 however it was my own fault. I am low carbs and IF when I got home from work I felt like having a white claw beverage and I’m sure that was a big part of it - alcohol before dinner. Thanks again for a great video
I'm curious if anyone has ever experienced this. I used to smoke weed (emphasis on used to) and anytime I would smoke on an empty stomach or "wake and bake" I fainted from my blood sugar dropping. My friends would have to bring me back to life with food. I've fainted so many times in this same manner. To the point where I would refuse to smoke at a function or with friends if I hadn't eaten anything recently. But I cannot find anything on the internet that mentions this correlation. I know SO many people who smoke on an empty stomach and function just fine. Another family member with hypoglycemia experiences the fainting as well. Anyone else?
My psychiatrist diagnosed me with hypoglycemia. He did this with everyone suspected of having an anxiety disorder, because hypoglycemia can feel a lot like a panic attack. I've managed it with metformin and snacking. Ends up I didn't need anxiety meds and antidepressants.
I've had so many issues getting diagnosed. I have had hypoglycemia symptoms for years. But every time I go in tests are normal. It's so frustrating. Sometimes I will have just ate less than 2 hours ago and then bam I'm at work an hour after eating shaking and fighting a headache and dizziness.
Yesss!! Lisa, basically same thing here, but then what I realized is that when they had me fast, I always made sure I ate a buffet of food before bed overstuffing myself, & scheduled the earliest blood testing possible, so this is why my blood levels were low but not low enough to "qualify" in a sense. 🤦🙄😩 I did it that way just because I knew for a fact that I wouldn't be able to last that many hours while awake without eating, because I would start getting weak & shaky & probably throw up, but I had forgotten that me being IN that condition is the time that I actually SHOULD have them test my blood (instead of just overstuffing myself & sleeping through the "weak" phase. Lol. BUT, I saw a doctor once say that you really need to fast for longer then the amount they had told me (I forgot how many hours they suggested though I think it was like 12-13 or something?), but basically then go gt your blood levels tested whileee you are having the negative symptoms. I'm not a doctor or anything lol but I totally get you & have had the struggle too, so I hope this helps them get it figured out for you! 😊
I watched the insulin resistance video before I watched this because I’m having trouble losing weight postpartum. But I don’t really have many of those symptoms aside from I’ve always had extreme thirst, and I have all of the hypoglycemic symptoms… I got hypoglycemia from my grandfather we discovered it when I was a kid. I was the only one that would get physically sick and shake if I didn’t eat on time.
@@gavinr5576 but when I say I have suffered from extreme thirst literally from my childhood so I’m not sure if that’s just how I am, like more aware of my hydration than most
You should try salting your water. Your thirst could be due to not enough electrolytes and too much water causing and imbalance. 1/2 TSP salt per litre of water is a good place to start. Your body will flush out any excess you don't need. But on another note, your insulin is high which signifies insulin resistance. Hypoglycemia is related (I have a video on this).
Thank you for this information. Based on your description I think I've been experiencing hypoglycemia. I experienced fainting, feeling clammy and sweating, lethargic along with nausea and feeling like I have to go to the bathroom. I experienced these symptoms several years ago. I'm also dealing with hypertension. However, within this week it started again and I'm not sure what I did to bring on feeling. I recently started walking/ light jogging which I haven't done since before the pandemic. Sometimes I start my day with a list of things to do and put off having breakfast. And before I know it the afternoon is about to end. I would like to know, based on my outline whether I am hypoglycemic. And if so, how to correct this issue and change my behavior.
Hi Miss Kait. Thank you for the video and the work that you do, in general. I am for anyone who means to support others in their wellness! I just wanted to share that I am diagnosed with Hypoglycemia and believe myself to be reactive. The question I had is tied into Glycation, the process of which is when damage is done to various proteins in the body from sugar molecules. Judging from the info in your video, I tend to think that Hypoglycemia has many moving parts but I'll ask anyway. Are people who do have the diagnosis of Hypoglycemia less susceptible to the ravages or degrees/effect of Glycation or AGe?
Remember…”normal “ is based on the population of North America, where 40% are obese and full blown type 2 diabetic and another 30% are overweight and pre-diabetic..according to Shaun Stevens podcast April 2021 only 12% of Americans are metabolically healthy. Normal is not optimal.
Omg!! Thank god i was looking for why I was feeling dizzy and my heartbeat was so fast…. I’m doing keto and fasting. And I eat a dark chocolate in the afternoon and for dinner I was feeling sick…
After I eat white rice ,I get SEVERE low blood sugar symptoms ,I literally go numb ,weak ,nauseous ,sweaty ,shaking fast heartbeat and panic attack .I avoid it completely.Still I get low blood sugar, if I skip meals
My symptoms starting about 3 weeks in of cutting out all grains..i was not eating any junk food..my body just does not do good on just protein, fat and fruit..now I am going to try adding in rice or something back in and see how I feel..I thought this was mast cell issues as I have that too so time will tell..I wake up shaky and with adrenaline rushes, cramping feet--when I eat I get so anxious, weak and then i just lose my appetite so I have been having a hard time getting enough calories in..my stomach is in knots from this. This could be a mast cell issue that has exacerbated due to seasonal allergies and the diet change or just from the diet change..I had CF for years and I think intermittent fasting was bad for me because once i started a macro app I realized I was only eating about 1000 calories if lucky for years..
I’m not sure whether my case of hypoglycemia is rare, but it affects me, my brother and my mom the exact same. We can’t go a single day without eating otherwise we will collapse and pass out from this. If we have that same experience with hypoglycemia for a few days, it could lead to be fatal Our situation is a bit different and possibly more severe, we’ve known about this for years. But either way, thanks for the tips
My blood sugar goes down to 3.0 every night when I sleep and sometimes in the day after I eat a load of sugar and it's still coming down. I just recently got a cgm sensor and it has been interesting. 5+ Years carnivore now and not worried about the low sugar at all.
In my case I have non reactive hypoglycaemia with no identifiable reason. Food or no food my body seems to cause it quits. However acarbose has some effect and has reduced the speed of a hypo as long as I have had a carb heavy meal prior to it (otherwise I'm on the floor).
Please can you explain what causes pain in the solar plexus region . I have had this pain off and on for some time, usually around the time youd expect to be in need of food. However my blood sugars are around normal or abit on the low side. As this gets better when I eat or have a drink of water I am confused. Can you shed some light on this .Appreciate your advise Jo
I have Hypoglycemia. Diagnosed when I went into insulin shock and had a seizure. Here is my problem. I don't eat dairy of meat. I am whole food plant based. Any advice? Because I have never liked eating meat.
I think I have reactive hypo. I'm quite slim, bmi 18.2, so I've been resisting fasting, but I think its what I need to do. Maybe I'll just down a lot of calories during a narrower window. Fat + protein mostly. Yes? Are there people for whom fasting is not recommended?
Thank you so much for this informative video! @healthcoachkait I think I’m starting to develop reactive hypoglycemia, as I am a vegetarian eating mostly rice, grains, eggs and dairy. I’ve noticed that one hour after eating, I feel like I’m going to die. My heart starts racing, I feel lots of chest pain. I get dizzy, my limbs get very cold and I start shaking uncontrollably. And I just feel extreme tiredness! I plan on going to the doctor but I also bought a glucose monitor to keep an eye on my blood sugar. What numebrs suggest hypoglycemia? Should I be testing my blood sugar levels 1 hour after a meal? Thank you!
I'm type 2 dietary controlled and quite frequently go hypo I know all the symptoms when I do go ypo I always have a pice of fruit a banana and somthing like veg pasta for lunch intermittent fasting works great too last time I had a hypo was two days after I got a tattoo done got the shakes blurry vision irregular heart rate nausea and confusion and the shakes and diabetic rash which faded gradually after a day with a high carb meal . but these symptoms were only temporary and eating a moderately high carb meal and carrying some starchy fruit with me and some low sugar cordial helped also lots of water and redbush (rooibos) tea helped a lot I never knew of the two types of hypo though so mine was reactive hypoglycaemia not non reactive same as stress I work in a uni kitchen and the nature of the beast is it can get very tetchy at times especially end of term lots of jobs gets busy with formal meals cleaning cooking prepping aghhh!! then a hypo hits cause I forget to take a break and eat that's why I always carry a banana or flask of redbush and water water water I check the colour of my pee and make sure I don't inadvertently dehydrate slightly..that causes a hypo too and in most diabetic cases all types going to the John often is a big sign...soo when treated with moderate carbs most symptoms lessen or vanish
I have reactive hypoglycaemia (RH) and find no regular medic understands it at all. GP specialist advised to control it by eating every 2.5-3 hrs - small protein heavy “meals”/snacks eg hard boiled egg. If I don’t eat, my insulin levels go sky high- are you sure IF is good idea for RH?
I don't know if i have this. But since 6 months ago i feel alot of dizziness. Yesterday i was eating white rice, i started to feel intense anxiety and dizziness so much that i was scared to pass out.. now i get also dizziness when i eat sugar and feel tired alot.
Today I woke up with 30mg/Dl, I thought I was going to die due to the weird way my body was reacting. I was on a protein (60g)(organic meat, eggs, wild-caught fish), non-starchy vegetables, high-quality fat (cold pressed oils, seeds, and nuts) and low carbs for the last two weeks. I lost 5 lbs in 10 days. My BMI is 21. I was feeling fine until today. I was eating 25 g of carbs/day. I am really interested to know how much carbs we need daily. Today I spiked my carbs to 60g. I am a very active person. I eat to live. I was told I am insulin resistant by an endocrinologist and a nutritionist suggested the above diet. I used to fast for 12-16 hours a day for the last two weeks. I am puzzled!!! I just want to have a normal healthy life without feeling I am going to pass-out!
The first time I experienced this was in a summer camp, in the US, when I was a teen in 2008/9. The symptoms came back hard while I was in university, when I did not take enough time to eat properly in between classes. It still happens now, despite me not being diabetic or on any meds that trigger this. I was told to get a blood sugar monitor, how does that help me with the actual issue??? 😕
Do you suffer hypoglycemia?
Luckily he go back on his feet and I bought him a Gatorade
This is scary when nobody expects it

*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*
My brother has been type 1 diabetic since he was 8 yrs old
I developed type 1 at age 32
You can get diagnosed really early
My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article th-cam.com/users/postUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.
I have heard it said that viruses, infections and pancreas failure causes Type 1 diabetes.

I think you just saved my life. Docs kept telling me nothing was wrong even through the shaking was so bad I thought I was having seizures!
What did your blood sugar read as
Some people cannot fast , the sugar gets too low while fasting .
Go on a slow fast instead. 😊
Were you drinking dairy on ur low carb keto? So you think hypoglycaemia is not actual pre diabetic but is caused by malnutrition instead?
I've had hypoglycemia since going into 7th grade (I'm 59 now). I didn't even know what it was, until my early 20's, when my then mother-in-law told me about it. If there was information available back then, I didn't know about it. I've learned over the years what triggers it for me, but sometimes I still get it wrong. This video was so incredibly helpful!

Awesome to hear!
My sugar randomly crashed yesterday. It was so bad I almost passed out. Heart started racing too. I bought an icecream and woke back up. And no I don't have diabetes
Maybe it wasn't radnom if you didn't have a good meal and was physically Active.
Keep honey on hand and glucose tablets like I do. Sometimes, you have to take 3 or 4 until your glucose rises...
Eating too much sweets for hypoglycemia is not advisable. Better maintain proper meal n diet required for weak
Thanks so much for this video. I started getting so tired I couldn't stay awake very weak dizzy. I started checking my blood sugar 2 hrs after every meal and my readings where 90 and I felt horrible. It's such a scary feeling 😫
Thank you for making people more aware. Hopefully the medical world discovers a treatment for this destructive condition.
1st time I've actually had my condition explained to me. I always wondered why this would happen to me after eating a large meal. Extreme weakness, excessive cold sweat, shaking, extreme hunger.

I have it as well. Complex carb diet works well for me. Carbs get a bad rap due to all of the simple carb foods and sugar.
@Rational Geographic I've never heard of complex carb diet. I will definitely look into it. Thank you!
I have this and I nearly collapsed while out with a friend a couple years ago. I took a fasting A1C glucose test at the doctors and my blood sugar was in the normal range. I have to take snacks with me everywhere I go in case I get a low.
Are you doing low carb?
If not, then it could be a sign of insulin resistance.
You're God sent. You don't know of how much help you have been to me.

Some people cannot fast too long
I’ve had a very similar experience when trying keto.
What is the effect of ketone to the baby? Where can I read about it?

What happens, do you just come back round after passing out? Do you take something sugary? Do you feel breathless with it? I get really breathless and feel faint then try to drink sugary milkshakes and eat and after maybe 30 minutes it's a bit more normal. It is really scary though. I don't know if it's diabetes.

Wow
How you doing now
You are right most doctors do more damage. They just don’t know but pretend to know everything.

It's low blood sugar for sure
Are you already eating low carb diet?
I'm on keto and I've noticed that eating a carb heavy meal knocks me out (I literally almost passed out last time). It's definitely not hyp(er)glycemia as the symptoms you describe are classic low blood sugar. I think what's happening is that being on low carb makes you insulin sensitive, when you eat a high carb meal it drives your insulin response too hard and you end up with reactive hypoglycaemia.
get a blood sugar monitor its simple
(Forgot to include I’ve been having sleep paralysis more frequently too)
Not sure about that. See your doctor because sleep paralysis is not a symptom of hypoglycemia as far as I know.
I’m 90% positive I have hypoglycemia and I’m a vegetarian so I’m nervous that I’m going to be in this constant cycle. Do you think plant based proteins would help?
Have you had bloodwork done?
Thank you ❤️ i’ve been to the doctor I’ve been tested and I’m going to go again. your video just shine light on many things so thank you very much😊
Is this hypoglycemia?
Is there a treatment for that ? Like a medication or how does it get treated ?
What type of food do you eat?
Ideas?
Keto is not for everyone you need at least 30 to 40 per meal or 120 carbs a day or you can depleted your liver
You need carbs man
Pre-keto I had horrible reactive hypoglycemia, diet soda made me pass out, would wake up shaking like crazy and struggled to concentrate and stay awake daily, just learning that I may have adrenal issues and that may have been the true cause as even then I was very low carb...

Your videos are very importants

I have hypoglycemia and smoking weed has never done that to me before, that’s scary
Doesn't metformin keep you from having high blood sugar levels? It keeps blood sugar levels lower?
Great information and easy to understand. Thanks!
Extreme thirst is a potential symptom of diabetes, which can cause reactive hypoglycemic episodes. Get your insulin resistance checked.
@@gavinr5576 always do and it’s fine. My insulin is just high but A1C is perfectly normal 🤷♀️
Great Great information Kait. Thank you very much 🙏🌸
My pleasure Jessica! 😘

I suffer from it recently. I need cut back on carbs eat more fats and protein like you said eat my carbs last. Losing weight will help.
Omg!! Thank god i was looking for why I was feeling dizzy and my heartbeat was so fast…. I’m doing keto and fasting. And I eat a dark chocolate in the afternoon and for dinner I was feeling sick…
🙏🙏
Thank you 🙏 💕

Thanks for the video. Could you please tell me what are the tests one should do to diagnose if it is reactive or non reactive hypoglycemia?
I’m not sure whether my case of hypoglycemia is rare, but it affects me, my brother and my mom the exact same. We can’t go a single day without eating otherwise we will collapse and pass out from this. If we have that same experience with hypoglycemia for a few days, it could lead to be fatal
Our situation is a bit different and possibly more severe, we’ve known about this for years. But either way, thanks for the tips
I have secondary hypothyroidism, and heard it can contribute to hypoglycemia
Can you shed some light on this .Appreciate your advise
Jo
Thank you! you read my mind!!
@healthcoachkait
I think I’m starting to develop reactive hypoglycemia, as I am a vegetarian eating mostly rice, grains, eggs and dairy.
Thank you!
I feel like when I blood sugar gets into the 90’s I feel the symptoms I don’t know why it’s so confusing
Omg it finally makes sense why my mom said I have hypoglycemia
I always get it when I eat weak meal before being physically active. If I eat good meal with both meat and veggies I am always good.
Thank you for this video. I learned more from your video than at the doctors today when he told me I was hypoglycemic ❤
♥️♥️
I drink too much alcohol. How long does it take for liver to repair after going sober? Any other recommendations besides getting clean? Thank you!

I feel like it would be helpful to talk about carbs in terms of simple vs complex, also high/low GI foods :)
